I decided to binge this show and I realized that it's like a teenage version of the Mexican hit telenovela "La Usurpadora" and Maryo J. De Los Reyes' primetime hit on GMA "Impostora" starring Iza Calzado and Sunshine Dizon! Jillian Ward had just finished her iconic role as Dra. Annalyn Santos in the hit afternoon drama "Abot Kamay ang Pangarap". This show, however, feels like a complete downgrade for this talented young actress. My Ilonggo Girl's special effects are subpar, some scenes are clearly rushed, Jillian's double back-in-twin are too obvious, and the teleserye tropes are incredibly hard to believe.
The controversial plastic surgery episodes that trended on social media, where the evil Jillian transforms into Myrtle Sarossa, was one of the cringiest moments I've ever witnessed in Philippine television history. I remember when Sunshine and Iza did Impostora, the other Sunshine character sounded exactly like Iza in the first few episodes, and their body shapes were very very similar. It wasn't until a few episodes that the "good" Sunshine's voice started to sound more like the "evil" Sunshine, as she tried to mimic the villain's tone to appear more believable to the family members of the evil Sunshine's kids. Well, this show is not finished yet airing, there's still a lot of room for improvement. The creatives can still make adjustments to improve its quality.
