The movie marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.
Sonam Kapoor's character was initially named Anju, which was then changed to 'Mili' in honor of the original movie.
The movie is loosely based on the 1980s blockbuster of the same name which had Rekha Ganesan in the lead role.
After a slow start, the film proved to be a surprise hit due to word-of-mouth.
Legendry actor Dina Pathak played mother of main lead (Rakesh Roshan ) in the original version. Ratna Pathak Shah , Daughter of Dina Pathak played mother of main lead (Fawad Khan ) in new version.
