Chennai, April 22: Jagapathi Babu, who ruled as a charming romantic hero not very long ago, is set to play the father of superstar Mahesh Babu in a yet-untitled Telugu project, to be directed by Koratala Siva.

"I had planned to rope in someone new for the father's role and when I watched Jagapathi's performance in 'Legend', I knew I had my man," Siva told Ians.

Jagapathi played the antagonist's role in recent Telugu blockbuster "Legend".

Chennai, April 9: Popular producer Anil Sunkara, known for Telugu films such as "Dookudu" and "Legend", will release forthcoming Telugu anthology film "Chandamama Kathalu" under his home banner April 25 worldwide.

"He recently saw the film and was really impressed with it. He agreed to distribute it under his home banner. This will help us get a good theatrical release," the film's director Praveen Sattaru told Ians.

Sattaru, who has also produced the film, says the film will be "life-affirming".

Chennai, April 6: Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Telugu action-drama "Legend" has raked in Rs.31 crore in the first week of its release worldwide and a trade pundit describes its success as a good start for summer.

Boyapati Srinu's directorial venture, reportedly made on a budget of Rs.40 crore, also earned Rs.15 crore from satellite, audio and distribution rights.

"In the first week, 'Legend' has minted Rs.31 crore worldwide. This is a great start to the film, which had already collected about Rs.15 crore from satellite, audio and distribution rights. It has turned out to be the first hit of this summer," trade analyst Trinath.

Chennai, April 1: Filmmaker Boyapati Srinu, currently basking in the overwhelming response to his recent Telugu directorial "Legend", says he was confident of the film's success even before it went on floors.

Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer "Legend", which released Friday, has minted over Rs.15 crore in the opening weekend worldwide.

"When you work with certain actors, you're always confident about success. My relationship with Balakrishna worked on that level of confidence. I was confident of the film's success even before we went on floors. Some said I was overconfident, but I thought otherwise," Boyapati Srinu told.

Chennai, March 31: Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, who is basking in the success of his recent Telugu hit "Legend", will start shooting for his yet-untitled Telugu outing after he completes campaigning for Telugu Desam Party (Tdp) in the forthcoming election.

Balayya, as he is fondly referred to by his fans, is teaming up with debutant Satya in the film.

"The project has been okayed by Balakrishna sir but the regular shooting will only start from the second week of May. Meanwhile, we are in the process of finalizing the rest of the cast for the project," Satya told Ians.

This untitled project will be the 98th film of Balakrishna's career.

Chennai, March 30: Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Telugu action-drama "Legend" has raked in Rs.7.4 crore on its opening day Friday in Andhra Pradesh. Thanks to its impressive release day numbers, trade pundits predict the film may register good opening weekend collections.

The film directed by Boyapati Srinu has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs.35 crore.

"The film collected Rs.7.4 crore on its release day in Andhra Pradesh. This has turned out to be the biggest film to release after the state's bifurcation and emerge victorious at the box-office," trade analyst Trinath told Ians.

Hyderabad, March 26: A Harley Davidson bike used in forthcoming Telugu actioner "Legend", starring Balakrishna, is likely to be auctioned and the proceeds will go to Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute here.

"Post the release of the film, the makers are planning to auction the bike for a noble cause. The amount collected from the sale will go to Basavatarakam Cancer hospital. They are actually planning to organise an event for this soon," the film's spokesperson told Ians.

Chennai, March 25: Vasanth Dayakar says his Telugu directorial debut "Tholi Prema Katha", releasing in cinemas Friday, has been made thanks to funds contributed by around 25 of his friends.

"Nearly 25 close friends pitched in to help me complete this film. I'm extremely thankful to them because had it not been for them, my film would still in the script form. It's an entertaining love story made on a shoestring budget," Vasanth told Ians.

Chennai, March 11: Come March 28, two star-studded Telugu films "Rowdy" and "Legend", by Ram Gopal Varma and Boyapati Srinu respectively, are slated to lock horns at the box office, making it the biggest clash of summer 2014.
