The week I saw Fetish Factory, the new feature from writer/director Staci Layne Wilson, I also rewatched Anna Biller’s The Love Witch and Hillary Clinton lost her chance to be the first female president of the United States. I was very much in the mindset of seeing art through a specific prism of gender politics and sexism, which may have colored my reading of the movie. At the same time, I don’t know if that’s true. This is a movie with gender politics very much on its mind. You don’t make a movie about the male customers of a sex fetish club being turned into bloodthirsty zombies without wanting to say something about the relationship between men and women.

Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.
Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

I'm pretty proud of the writers who contribute to ShockTillYouDrop.com. Over the seven years as this site's managing editor, I've seen some of Shock's writers head over to print (like Fangoria) or take big gigs at FEARnet or explore careers in film. Now, Carrie Keagan has been a dear friend of mine for many years; she's a huge horror fan and has contributed to Shock from time to time. This year, she stars in the upcoming Fetish Factory - a new horror film from director Staci Layne Wilson. We'll have more on that soon.

Have you ever heard a parent say, “I’m not especially fond of children, but I love my own!”? That’s kind of how I feel about zombies. So when I got the offer from Blanc/Biehn Productions to make my feature directorial debut, guess what…

If you’ve followed my career as a horror critic, you know that while I try to be as fair and balanced as possible, I’m always at a slight disadvantage when reviewing zombie flicks because they’re my least favorite.
So why, when actress-producer-uberwoman Jennifer Blanc-Beihn and highly imaginative executive producer Lony Ruhmann approached me earlier this year about writing and directing a saucy suspenser based on one of Lony’s loglines – “pinup girls vs. zombies” – did I say yes?
Anyone who knows me well enough to know I don’t love zombies should also know that my passion for style,...

It was a quick shoot for Fetish Factory, writer/director Staci Layne Wilson's feature debut, which features a post-apocalyptic atmosphere blended with burlesque bawdiness. While the film goes through post, we have several stills to share straight from the set.
“We are wrapped on Fetish Factory, my 5-day feature film wonder-shoot for the fab Bbp,” said Wilson. “What a way to make a directorial debut: pinup girls, multiple costume changes, burlesque acts, singers, bands, claustrophobic ‘haunted house’ horror with a big cast, zombies, beauty and F/X makeup, bloody death scenes, stunts, and humor -- I think my next movie should be about one character in a phone booth or something… Whew!”
“Fetish Factory was more fun than I could have ever imagined,” added co-star/producer Jennifer Blanc-Biehn. “It’s a really exciting film featuring pinup models versus zombies. And I’m so proud of our cast. We pulled...
