I personally think this movie was GREAT!! I mean the dances and singing were great. I think that it really does give you a glimpse of an Indian Movie in a Peruvian Style way. I was very excited to see it and it was worth it. I have never seem a Peruvial musical in a MOTION PICTURE, YES am talking about a REAL MOVIE, am not talking about DOCUMENTALS, TV SHOWS, OR CONTEST. The locations were very beautiful, the actors bring a living body, very colorful.
The marinera dancing is one of the major highlights of the movie. The first half is a complete entertainer with some great funny instances. The movie was smooth as a poem which leaves you with some memorable thoughts of your infancy.
Another noticeable aspect of the movie is the performance by Oscar Aviles and those strong words that will be stay forever in your heart. Congratulations

I loved the color, but the cinematography was the worse I've ever seen. In the first scenes you didn't follow the basic 180 rule. Yes that rule can be broken but mostly you get the audience disoriented. And thats how i felt with the cinematography, i was disoriented. The director didn't lead me see things that he wants me to see. The story is very cliché, you have a basic love triangle, a conflict that drives the 2 lovers together, and they win. Its very predictable, and who wins a perfect score at a dance competition anyway? they should have built suspense and made it that they barely won since the boy had a broken ankle. And replacing a fight with a dance off? seriously? its a hard scene to pull off but its unnecessary. This is my small rant about the film. I was entertained for the time being, but its one of those movies that i would see it once and not buy the DVD. And if i where to see it again, it would have to be under my own will because i would never see this film again. Go watch it for your curiosities sake, but don't buy it if its out on DVD. The singing and choreography is good, its what kept this movie alive, but everything else was very poor quality.
to put my feelings into one sentence, This movie is a peruvian version of Highschool Musical. I don't plan on watching more peruvian cinema, this film has ruined it for me.

I am not a film critic, but let me tell you this movie was spectacular. Peruvian or not? this is a decent movie with a positive massage, especially if you are a dancer or Marinera dancer. I belong to a dance academy and most of the students that went to see this movie were very impressed and touch by the words from the teacher and the grandfather. "If you really want to dance, DO IT! but with all your heart! Master Oscar Aviles last word were very profound and emotional, as far as I know, it was his last act before he passed away (RIP). But he left a huge legacy for future generations. Viva el Peru! El mejor amigo de un Peruano es otro Peruano!
I am very please to seem a beautiful movie. The musical was one of the best films I have ever seem in the Peruvian Cinema, the great actors were outstanding such Paul Martin, Oscar Aviles, Cristian Esquivel and Alex Donet. The music was beautifully done and it describe me part of the history which flows along with the characters. The location were very impressive I get to know more about Peru such as Trujillo, Moche, Chichlayo, Huanchaco, La Mamamcona, Lima and its dances, specially when they explain different kinds of Marinera that I didn't know that exist it. My Kids and my family love it and we are eager to see it again, definitevely would buy the Blue Ray. And We are eager to see the 2 part
