A well-deserved promotion!
NBC announced Tuesday that Colin Jost and Michael Che were named co-head writers of Saturday Night Live.
The pair have been hosting "Weekend Update" since 2014. They will join the show's current head writers, Bryan Tucker and Kent Sublette, both of whom are remaining in their roles. Sudi Green and Fran Gillespie were also named writing supervisors in the announcement.
Jost, a four-time WGA Award winner and Peabody Award recipient who is currently dating Scarlett Johansson, joined SNL in 2005 as a writer. He was previously a head writer from 2012 to 2015 alongside Seth Meyers and then Tucker.
Before joining SNL in 2013, Che appeared on The Daily Show. The new appointment makes him the first person of color to have the title of head writer.

The women of Saturday Night Live and guest host Saoirse Ronan banded together to tackle the influx of sexual misconduct allegations in a sketch titled "Welcome to Hell."
Ronan, Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant performed the upbeat song on what could pass as a Katy Perry music video set, giving the sketch a cheerful, bubblegum tone despite its dark subject matter.
"It's freaky, it's nasty, it's button-under-the-desk bad," the women sing, referencing the button Matt Lauer had to lock his office door. "But this is our hometown, we'll show you around.

Saoirse Ronan was the host of the Dec. 2 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” and her “Lady Bird” director Greta Gerwig stopped by for a cameo in a quirky digital short. The sketch, titled “The Race,” is about a ’80s-style office where running fast to fetch files leads to corporate glory. Kyle Mooney gets training from Ronan to race against office alpha male Beck Bennet in this silly short film, leading to a inspirational (and slightly spooky) ending.
Ronan recently spoke to IndieWire about the joy of collaborating with Gerwig, which started when the duo first read the “Lady Bird” script together as a makeshift audition.
“We read through the whole thing, and I did Lady Bird’s part and she did everyone else’s parts,” Ronan said. “It just felt like you’d met one of those people that you really wanted to spend time with and really wanted to...

“Every Frame a Painting,” a YouTube channel which attracted many cinephiles by focusing on the artistry of cinema, has ended. Creator and narrator Tony Zhou, alongside his fellow “Frame” writer and editor Taylor Ramos, published a “Postmortem” for the show on Dec. 2, alongside a script for a never-completed final video which was a thoughtful peek behind the curtain of the artists’ workflow.
“Every Frame a Painting is officially dead. Nothing sinister; we just decided to end it, rather than keep on making stuff. The existing videos will, of course, remain online. But there won’t be any new ones,” reads the introduction to the script.
Near the beginning of the script itself, Ramos outlines why the duo have stopped producing videos. “In the past year, we’ve both started new jobs and taken on other freelance work.

In the past few months, a slew of powerful men — from Harvey Weinstein to Matt Lauer — have been outed as sexual predators. Though many may be shocked, the ladies of Saturday Night Live are here to tell you that this kind of bad behavior is nothing new.

“Hey there, boys. We know the last couple months have been frickin’ insane,” said Strong before Bryant chimed in, “All these big, cool, powerful guys are...

‘Saturday Night Live’ Sexual Harassment Song ‘Welcome to Hell’ Shows Women’s Daily Nightmare — Watch
The Dec. 2 episode of “Saturday Night Live” featured the season’s most pointed statement against Hollywood’s ongoing sexual harassment scandals in the form of a candy-colored music video for the song “Welcome to Hell.” In it, host Saoirse Ronan and cast members Aidy Bryant, Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones educate men who have been shocked about this recent run of news about how life has been difficult for women for hundreds of years.
“Well, House of Cards is ruined, and that really sucks, but here’s a list of stuff that’s ruined for us,” the group sings at one point, before listing things like walking, ponytails, drinking, and hotels. The women also reveal how they arm themselves to walk home at night, and how mistreatment in the workplace can be traced back to a long history of men asserting power over women, such as the Salem witch trials...

The 2017 time warp continues: While it may feel like this season of Saturday Night Live started a long time ago, this is only the seventh episode. As host, Saoirse Ronan acquitted herself well, although this is a show in which she served as ensemble rather than actual lead in most sketches. Nothing suggested the show was hiding her in any way, but the nature of the material meant there were few chances for her to stand alone in the spotlight.

Did the luck of the Irish rub off on Saturday Night Live?
Ireland native Saoirse Ronan made her hosting debut this weekend in one of the better episodes of the still-young season, where she was joined by her fellow Irishmen U2. The two-time Oscar nominee, who is currently promoting the acclaimed indie film Lady Bird, even joked that she was hosting the St. Patrick’s Day episode of SNL — albeit a few months early.

In the guise of a saccharine-sweet, Katy Perry-esque music video, Saturday Night Livecastmembers Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon and host Saoirse Ronan had a message for all the men in America who are just now realizing the ever-present, relentless horror and reality of sexual harassment and assault that women have been facing in our country for, well, ever.
Rocking pastel and neon outfits, the women performed a mind-blowing and darkly ironic song about the realities of sexual harassment, set to a disconcertingly upbeat synth-pop track.
"All these big, cool, powerful guys are turning out to be, what’s the word? Habitual predators?" Bryant sing-talks. "And it's like, dang, is this the world now?"
"Well here's a little secret that every girl knows," Ronan chimes in.

"Saturday Night Live" took on the massive sexual harassment/assault scandal by telling perpetrators they are now in the same place the woman have been for years -- hell. The skit -- "Welcome to Hell" -- is not knee-slapping funny, but it's definitely powerful. It’s only December 2 and we have two more episodes after this before Christmas, but this week’s “Saturday Night Live” still opened with a “Christmas Carol” homage featuring Alec Baldwin. Despite seeming to jump the gun a little bit, seasonally, it’s one of the more incisive cold opens in a little while, pounding hard at Donald Trump’s most recent string of missteps.
Afterwards, though, it was an episode devoted to having fun with a fresh face who proved game for all sorts of wackily colored wigs and character moments. If it weren’t for her opening monologue and the fact that U2 was the musical guest, you’d hardly know she was Irish.

Ever since directing the original Saw back in 2004, James Wan’s career has only continued to skyrocket. Say what you will about the franchise that his debut spawned, but the original film – in all its low budget simplicity – was the work of someone with potential and, better yet, the talent to see that potential through. In the years since, his name has become synonymous with modern horror, spinning two further franchises into gold with Insidious and The Conjuring, and while he’s also helped guide Furious 7 through its troubled production and is helming next year’s Aquaman, fans of Wan will always look forward to seeing him return to his horror roots.
But while the director has seen success after success over the years, there’s one year in particular that always seems to get overlooked: 2007. It was then that Wan...

There has been no shortage of negative headlines heading into NBC’s coverage of 2016 Rio Summer Games, the first-ever Olympics in South America. The stories from Rio have been eye-popping: dismembered body parts washing up on Copacabana beach, mere meters from the Olympic Beach Volleyball Arena; a shootout at a hospital; new data revealing that muggings are at an 11-year high; and police, fire and hospital personnel on strike amid budget shortfalls. One such protest at Rio's airport had police officers holding a banner that read: "Welcome to Hell: police and firefighters don't get paid, whoever comes to Rio de Janeiro

Researchers believe the bacteria, found in Guanabara Bay, entered waterways from surrounding households and hospitals. "Every time you get some water in your face, it feels like there's alien enemy entering your face. I keep my nose and my lips closed," German Paralympic sailor Heiko Kroger told CNN. After the haunting series premiere of Dead of Summer, this summer looks like it will take a horrifyingly haunting turn.
Dead of Summer Season 1 Episode 2 greets children to Camp Stillwater, even after the gardener's murder, and all of the crazy stuff that happened to Amy Hughes.
Is this ghost a fan of children? You better hope so, or there may be another lake massacre, which likely started this curse, or whatever it is.
Check out the photos below! How will the counselors react to the children wandering around Camp Stillwater? Who can't handle their duties? How long until the kids are sent home?
Missing are Amy, Jessie, Drew, Blair, and Garrett. That's suspicious.
You can watch Dead of Summer online right here at TV Fanatic to re-watch the series premiere!

“Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” is a proverb whose simple existence proves the fact impressionable souls will do so without fail. This monthly column (with a special year-end retrospective today) focuses on the film industry’s willingness to capitalize on this truth, releasing one-sheets to serve as not representations of what audiences are to expect, but as propaganda to fill seats. Oftentimes they fail miserably.
