A work of art

Absolutely amazing!!!!! From start to finish, Sangria Lift had me engaged. I loved the message Melanie sent with this film, it really makes you think about the way we all judge and perceive things in life. This powerful film had me laughing and crying. There were lots of "little things" to catch throughout the 23 minute film. (I won't spoil it for you!) Sangria Lift was well written with an amazing plot, heart-wrenching scenes, and some unexpected twists. Complimenting the film was an outstanding original score! My favorite part about this spectacular short film was the conversation that it started...the sign of a fantastic piece of art!

One of the best short films I've seen!

I've seen a lot of short films, and, often, the end credits are rolling before I feel like the film is "finished" and I leave with unanswered questions. Not the case with this gem! From beginning to end, this gripping short demands your attention and stays with you long after the credits roll. What writer and director Melanie Star Scot has managed to pack into 23 minutes is incredible... a feat of true talent! This short feels like a feature length film, complete with a powerful message, a great score, a talented cast, an engaging script... This journey that we embark on with a little red sports car is a journey like no other! Hats off to you, Melanie!

a gift of perspective

When the film began I was prepared to be entertained as anyone about to see a film would be. I was not prepared for the boundless insight and depth that this film gave me.

I was moved to tears and overwhelmed with joy at the same time. I can't even go into the extent of how refreshing it was to see a film that wasn't simply put out to gain fame and fortune. This film has heart...which is something a lot of modern movies tend to miss.

I also have to touch on how professional and beautifully made it is. The film company as well as the cast/crew deserve all the awards and praise they have coming to them! I was simply blown away.

memorable, uplifting

I wish there were more movies like this. It's engaging. From the beginning, it's impossible to turn away from the story--how it unfolds, then folds up neatly again. At first, as characters are introduced, their stories seem completely separate. Most of these characters are strangers to each other, yet their lives become entwined in a way that is extraordinary and feasible at the same time. All of the actors turn in stellar performances--the young man's self-centered intensity, his girl-friend's patient optimism. One performance of special note is the female exec. She's vulnerable, she's strong. She's pretty amazing. Finally, the screenplay is beautifully written. It's neat and well-planned. There are no loose ends at the conclusion. There's suspense, romance, action--this movie has it all.
