A Newport Christmas

This movie has strong echoes of Hallmark's A Timeless Christmas. Instead of the rich gentleman it is an heiress that travels forward. Both have houses turned into museums and the main characters of the future in each are involved in keeping visitors who visit said museum entertained. The instrument of the magical time travel is a comet in Newport and a clock combined with a Blue Moon in Timeless. There is a major difference. That is technically a spoiler but I saw it coming for about half the movie.

Personally, I find it hard for any duo to beat Erin Cahill and Ryan Pavey, but Nell Bichler and Wes Brown do an excellent job.

Brown and Bichler have good chemistry and they spend a lot of screentime together which is enjoyable.

This movie minimized something I find annoying in stories where a character is transported to another time or reality. Some amount of confusion is necessary, but many movies overdo that aspect and you think the characters are idiots for not putting the traveler in a loony bin because (s)he certainly appears crazy. In this story, the characters finding Ella figure it out very quickly and commit to helping her.

Time travel movies are so much fun. I thought the actors were great and authentic. Costumes were beautiful! Story line was ok. The only thing that really turned me off was the obvious large proportion of green screen scenes. For me, it made the acting all the more inspiring- but the visual was so phony. So poorly done that as a viewer I'm thinking about the phony scenery and backgrounds (including interior shots) instead of the movie. How expensive could it possibly be for Hallmark to go film at a quant seaport somewhere and call it Rhode Island?

This is one of the best Christmas movies that I have seen on Hallmark. Excellent acting and great entertainment. I particularly loved the ending without saying any more about it and create a spoiler alert. Ginna Claire Mason and Wes Brown were superb like always. There was a new girl to Hallmark, Talia Robinson who also did a great job. I hope to see her in more Hallmark movies.

I love Wes Brown and always look forward to any movie he is in but had a difficult time with this one! The lead actress takes away from the movie and there is NO chemistry between her and "Nick"! I am sure I will watch the movie again just to watch Wes Brown and my opinion may change but I doubt it will!

By my count, this was Hallmark's fifth Christmas time travel movie, and was very similar to the one where the magic clock caused a businessman to leap forward in time and become a tour guide in his own home ... but a home he disappeared from decades before.

This movie followed the same storyline, and I'm not sure the ending followed its own logic, but we enjoyed it anyway. We'd certainly recommend watching it, and we'll probably watch it again.

However, similar to Candace Cameron Bure's time traveling nurse, this time a comet was the time-travel mechanism.

The lead actress played the "young Ann Margret;s character in "A Holiday Spectacular" a few years ago.
