Chicago medics are shocked by a spate of bizarre deaths: healthy people with motor ailments, colds, and flu are dying. Investigations highlight that all of the victims had taken simple Tylenol. Studies show that the Tylenol capsules were laced with cyanide. Several more victims come to light, and a demand for money soon follows.
I'm glad that Netflix decided to make a series about this horrible story; it's such a twisted series of events.
There are some fascinating interviews; you really get a sense of the cost to the victims. There's really interesting news footage too. The whole Johnson and Johnson angle was absolutely fascinating-imagine an employee with a grudge; that is such a chilling thought.
In 1982, how on earth would the authorities communicate the news? Nowadays, we have news in hand 24/7; 40 years back, it just wasn't the case. Fair play: they used so many methods.
Paula's death was so tragic, knowing that she died all alone, somehow that's just worse, horrible, indiscriminate crime. Seeing her in the store, on camera, that literally sent chills down my spine.
Here in the UK, it would be the same with paracetamol; it's in multiple products-it's in almost every other cupboard here. Knowing that cyanide was easily accessible, ouch!
Great start; this is a chilling watch. It's superbly made.
8/10.
