Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour has officially come to an end. The series of stadium jaunts began in March 2023 in the United States, stretching through the end of the year with an announcement of the re-recorded 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on the last night of the domestic leg in Los Angeles.
Right as she picked the tour back up in 2024, Swift flew from Tokyo, Japan to Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada (where she had previously performed) to watch her beau Travis Kelce and his NFL team the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl. She also had to take a brief hiatus after it was unsafe for her to perform in Vienna, Austria.
Throughout the almost two-year tour, she found ways to keep the show fresh and new for those who have been waiting since she opened in Phoenix, Arizona to see her. In the entire timespan of the tour, Swift...

Back in July, it was announced that Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur (Coda) had signed on to star in the horror film Primate. Since then, Johnny Sequoyah (pictured above) of Dexter: New Blood has signed on to star in the film with Kostur – and now, as the project draws closer to production, Deadline has revealed that ten more actors have joined the cast. Here’s the line-up: Jessica Alexander (Amadeus), Victoria Wyant (My Fault: London), Benjamin Cheng (d’Illusion: The Houdini Musical), Gia Hunter (Sherlock and Daughter), Miguel Torres Umba (National Theatre co-production Kin), Kae Alexander (Ready Player One), Tienne Simon (Grime Kids), Charlie Mann (Lazarus), newcomer Amina Abdi, and Albert Magashi (National Theatre Live: Dear England).
Unfortunately, we’re not able to tell you anything about the roles these actors will be playing, because all plot and character details are currently being kept under wraps.

At the start of last year, former DC Films boss Walter Hamada signed a first-look deal with Paramount Pictures, the idea being that he would become, as Deadline put it, “the architect of Paramount’s mainstream horror genre pod, with the mission to release several low- to mid-budget films per year across theatrical and streaming.” Now Deadline has an update on Hamada’s horror-minded efforts at Paramount, as they’re reporting that the studio has given the greenlight to the Hamada-produced horror film Primate, which has Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur attached to star.
Kotsur won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film Coda, becoming the first deaf male actor and only the second deaf actor overall to win an Oscar. Kotsur’s other credits include Wild Prairie Rose, No Ordinary Hero, Universal Signs, The Number 23, and episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Mandalorian, Criminal Minds,...

Taylor Swift continues to use the European leg of her Eras Tour to give songs from The Tortured Poets Department their live debut, with the singer performing “Fresh Out the Slammer” for the first time Friday as the trek began its weekend run in Lisbon, Portugal.
In the outro to the piano-only version of “Fresh Out the Slammer,” Swift also tacked on a surprise rendition of “High Infidelity,” a Midnights track that has only been performed once before, over a year ago at an April 2023 Eras Tour gig in Atlanta.

Warning: contains spoilers for Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 (and – curveball – The Shield pilot).
The act of compiling a list of moments such as these – trawling through memories, devouring fan-sites, gorging on clips – really hammers home the joy of being a Game of Thrones fan. Whatever you thought of the latter seasons, or how the show ended, it’s impossible to recall certain moments from the fierce and frantic, frenetic, kinetic, splenetic, sprawling, sword-and-sorrow-soaked timeline without some part of you screaming: ‘Again! Again!’
The selection criteria here isn’t random, but neither is it scientific. The final results and rankings lay no claim to definitiveness. How could they? Whittling this list down to a mere 100 moments would’ve been tough. This is where you come in. If you feel that your favourite scene or iconic moment is conspicuous by its absence, then fly to the comments section and help us...

Video Version of this Article Photo: Taylor Swift The lyric “Is this the end of all the endings? My broken bones are mending” is just one of the many fine examples that express the idea of finality and justice to Taylor Swift’s story as an individual. Of course, she is still very much young at her current age of 32; but, it is through how she has shared details about her life ever since her Debut album in 2006 when she was merely sixteen years old. From the start of the nostalgic and relatable first love and high school crushes with songs like ‘Our Song’ and ‘The Other Side of the Door’, to adulthood relationships that would influence how Swift will go about future relationships with songs like ‘All Too Well’ and ‘Out of the Woods’, and finally to be with the person that seems to be her final one and...

Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 16
So, you’ve spent the last several years surviving a violent hellscape of unliving death—lucky you! Only now, you suddenly find yourself staring down certain death in the form of a nuclear warhead. Knowing your destruction is imminent, how would you choose to live out your last moments?
That’s the basic premise of Fear the Walking Dead’s Season 6 finale, “The Beginning.” And I must admit, I went into this episode with high hopes—only to have those hopes dashed within minutes. This is through no fault of a talented cast that acts its talented heart out (as they usually do week after week). From Lennie James to Brigitte Kali Canales and everyone in between, they make the most out of what they’re given to work with.
It’s just that showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg,...

Dana, a 41-year-old singer from Houston, Texas, originally earned two chair-turns from Nick and John in the blind auditions with her performance of “Freeway of Love.” She surprised everyone by going with Team Nick, claiming she was swayed when he said he had “something to prove” as the only coach who hadn’t won yet. Dana later returned in the battles where she took on “Stuck with U” against Devan Blake Jones.

This allows more room for genuine, unfiltered reactions to plot twists and character deaths. Like when Fear killed off John Dorie earlier this season in the “The Door.” This heartbreaking episode was all the more tragic because John died feeling like he didn’t make enough of a difference. We know just the opposite to be true, of course. Not only did John’s life positively impact his friends, his death has also made a profound impact on those he’s left behind. After a long hiatus, Fear the Walking Dead is back and in fine form.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 8 featured high stakes and many payoffs, even if we did lose one of the best characters on the show.
What the franchise does well, in general, is mental health. Many of these characters have gone through so much, from surviving deadly encounters with the undead to losing people they love, and everyone has a breaking point.
John bailing on June during the first half of Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 was a huge turning point, suggesting there was something else going on that we were not privy to.
He had no fight left in him, propelling his arc in a tragic new direction.
He was ready to end his life and see what happened after, but Morgan was not the type of person to let someone he cared for sink into oblivion.

Fear the Walking Dead season 6 has been one of the darkest seasons of the show so far. Our heroes have been separated, some left for dead while others were forced to join Virginia and her cruel group of Pioneers who want all the survivors they meet to fall in line or die.
When Morgan stood up to Virginia in season 5, it ended very badly for him. Not only was his group broken but so was his spirit. But season 6 has been all about putting those pieces back together for Morgan. After a deadly encounter with a bounty hunter in the first half of the season gave him a new lease on life, Morgan has been busy plotting the downfall of the Pioneers, one strike at a time.

The pair of characters making up popular Game of Thrones romantic couple originally were conceived as brother and sister — and no, we’re not talking about Jaime and Cersei.
Missandei and Grey Worm — played by Nathalie Emmanuel and Jacob Anderson, respectively, on HBO’s juggernaut of a fantasy series — were at one point in the storytelling brother and sister. The revelation is one of many in Entertainment Weekly scribe James Hibberd’s new book on the TV show, Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series.

Game of Thrones didn’t lack for torture. Over eight seasons of whippings, beatings, nipple-ectomy, castration, dragonfire-immolation, head-melting and death-by-hot-rat the show overdelivered on its pain quota. One act of torture though, was more painful to see than all the others combined. Partly because it was inadvertent, partly because it was psychological, and partly because it happened to one of the few citizens of Westeros with a pure, good heart: Hodor.
That wasn’t his given name. Born Wylis, the servant to House Stark only became ‘Hodor’ after suffering a life-changing seizure in his youth. That event damaged his brain and took away his power of speech, leaving him only able to say the one word that would become his name.

If anybody needs a refresher, in season six, episode five ‘The Door’, Hodor’s ward Bran Stark was using his new-found...

If you've listened to our Corpse Club member-exclusive episode, then you know we're big fans of Junji Ito, the imaginative mind behind so many memorable manga creations, including Tomie, which is moving forward as an adaptation series on Quibi with Alexandre Aja directing, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing, and Adeline Rudolph starring in the lead role.
A premiere date and release schedule for Tomie has yet to be announced, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are announced. In the meantime, we have additional info below, and in case you missed it, Aja discussed the Tomie series when we interviewed him last year for his new movie Crawl.
"Quibi gives the greenlight to ‘Tomie’ based on the hit horror manga series of the same name. Based on the cult hit manga series by Junji Ito, Tomie is the story of a beautiful high school girl (Adeline Rudolph) who...

This article contains major spoilers from the Westworld Season 3 premiere. You can find our spoiler-free review here.
In a land where artificial intelligence is God, the man who distrusts technology could be called a heretic. This might be the best way to describe Aaron Paul’s Caleb, Westworld Season 3’s major new cast addition.
Introduced as a man suffering on the inside and out after some only hinted at trauma during wartime, Paul’s Caleb is a stoic representation of crime and the end results of a future literally planned by the data mined from the phone in your pocket. Also more than Dolores, Bernard, or whoever is inhabiting Charlotte’s robo-clone body these days, Caleb is the one to truly give us a hard look at what Westworld’s cynical future has become.

This spoiler-free review is based on the first four episodes of Westworld season 3.
Westworld has been confined for the better part of two seasons to a single location: the private island that serves as the home of Delos’ particular brand of adult theme park, catering to humanity’s better, and baser, instincts. Aside from a few trips off the reservation, to Arnold’s or to William’s, the action has been on the island, either in the scenarios themselves or behind the scenes as the forces of quality control serve to give guests the best possible experience sword-fighting with samurai, slapping iron with gunslingers, or hunting big cats in the British Raj.
Those worlds, as fantastical as they are, pale in comparison to the reality of the world outside of Westworld, the crucible that forms the violent delights of the men and women wealthy enough and cruel enough to play roughly with the hosts.

Returning to the well — or in this case, a submerged cave system — for his second film in which thrills are in more abundant supply than oxygen, Johannes Roberts reconfirms the enduring dramatic alchemy of a hungry shark and a smorgasbord of delicious-looking people with his skillful, handsomely-mounted “47 Meters Down: Uncaged.”
Spiraling off from his 2017 predecessor to tell a new story in what quite possibly could become a next-generation “Jaws” anthology, Roberts populates convincingly elaborate underwater sets with a suitably appealing cast for a claustrophobic adventure that manages to deliver some real terror before it somewhat inevitably levels up into absurdity.
Sophie Nélisse (“The Book Thief”) plays Mia, a high-school outcast whose harassment by bullies tests her relationship with stepsister Sasha after their parents move to Mexico for their dad Grant’s (John Corbett) job as an explorer of underwater cave systems. Sneaking off with Sasha’s friends Alexa and...

For this writer, it’s been really fun to see the evolution of filmmaker Johannes Roberts’ career over the last seven years, from Storage 24 (the first movie of his I ever covered that showed great promise of a director who embraced what makes the genre so great) to The Other Side of the Door (which really took me by surprise) to the breakout hit of 2017, 47 Meters Down, to last year’s The Strangers: Prey at Night (which I completely Loved). And now we have his latest, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, which has Roberts heading back into shark-infested waters for the sequel, which pits a group of unsuspecting teens against the ocean’s greatest predators, resulting in yet another harrowing excursion in aquatic horror that’s also a fun summertime popcorn movie to boot.
The setup for Uncaged is pretty straightforward: at the beginning, we’re introduced to step-sisters...

He scared viewers with sharks in 47 Meters Down and spooked horror fans with some familiar masked faces in The Strangers: Prey at Night, and now filmmaker Johannes Roberts will look to bring his unique style to the Resident Evil movie franchise as the reboot's writer and director.
Variety reports that Roberts has been "hired by Constantin Film" to write and direct the Resident Evil movie reboot based on Capcom's popular video game franchise that has revolutionized the gaming world since its launch in 1996 with its unique survival horror gameplay that pits players against zombies and other mutated threats of the living dead variety. As reported by Variety, production on the reboot is being eyed to begin as early as 2019 with "a new cast" in front of the camera.

The “Resident Evil” reboot has found its writer and director.
“47 Meters Down” director Johannes Roberts has been hired by Constantin Film to take the reins on the horror reboot, sources tell Variety.
The revival of the franchise has been a high priority for Constantin ever since May 2017, when the reboot was announced. The franchise has cumulatively earned $1.2 billion worldwide to date and is notable for being the highest-grossing film series based on a video game.
Based on the classic video game, the franchise followed Alice, played by Milla Jovovich, as she fights not only the zombies terrorizing Raccoon City after an experiment gone wrong, but the evil Umbrella Corp., which is the cause of the disastrous state. The most recent “Resident Evil” film bowed in 2016 and grossed $312 million, including $160 million in China alone.

While gaps between classic horror films and their sequels have tested fans’ patience in the past, it’s hard to imagine anyone eagerly waiting for a follow-up to The Strangers. The sub-par bag-head home invasion horror from 2008 had the privilege of being granted a theatrical run back in the day but seemed unlikely to spawn a sequel then, let alone ten years later. What’s more surprising than a belated follow-up being green lit, is that it’s also debuting in cinemas and not being banished to online screening platforms or supermarket bargain bins next to VHS rips of Jeff Speakman’s Timelock or Wild Fishing with Henry Gilbey.
Thankfully, The Strangers: Prey at Night isn’t quite the derivative botch-job one would have expected considering the original’s insignificance and the genre’s tendency to emit cut-price cash-in/ franchise silage. The first act is robust with instant, albeit clichéd,...

It’s been nearly 10 years since we were introduced to the maniacal masked killers in Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers, but they’re being resurrected on the big screen this weekend, with filmmaker Johannes Roberts (The Other Side of the Door, 47 Meters Down) at the helm. The sequel, Prey at Night, follows a family (headed up by Christina Hendricks and Martin Henderson) taking their troubled teenaged daughter (Bailee Madison) to military school, with their son, Luke (Lewis Pullman), in tow. As if tensions weren’t already running high between everyone, our favorite terrifying trio shows up to cause more murderous mayhem, forcing their clan to come together and fight back in an effort to survive the night.

Horror sequel The Strangers: Prey At Night stars Christina Hendricks, and has a brand new trailer...
The Strangers arrived in 2008 as an insular, tonally-terrifying, horror film outing, centering on a young couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman,) who are stalked in her remotely-located childhood summer home by three masked assailants. While it divided audiences, the film’s back-to-basics plot on a microscopic $9 million budget proved to be a successful formula, grossing $82.39 million worldwide.

Fox’s new X-Men TV series kicks off with a strong ensemble cast and a compelling introductory story. Here's our spoiler-free verdict...
What ingredients are necessary for a successful show about powered individuals? Cool abilities? Flashy visuals? Likable characters? Interestingly, Fox’s The Gifted manages to have them all despite following some formulaic paths to tell its story. Any worries viewers might have about the young, good-looking, CW-like cast should be tossed aside. Everyone from the headstrong but calculating mutants to the strangely sympathetic government enforcers to the argumentative but caring siblings in the Strucker family have levels of complexity not often seen, especially in a pilot.

(In an unexpected echo of Amy Schumer’s Snatched, Kate is a last-minute replacement for the now ex-boyfriend, which kind of makes you wish Schumer and Hawn had thrown in some sharks to liven things up a bit).

Summer is rarely the kindest season for indie film, but this year one title stood out: “47 Meters Down,” released by Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios. The Mandy Moore shark movie, which the distributor rescued from Dimension Films moments before it went direct to DVD, has earned over $42 million in its domestic release. It’s impressive — but Allen scoffed at the idea of becoming the new king of independents.
“I’m not chasing independence, I’m chasing Walt Disney,” he said. “I’m looking for a large piece of that box-office pie, not a tiny piece of that box-office pie.”
Allen, who began as a stand-up comedian, has the ambition to be a modern-day Walt Disney — or, he could be a 21st-century Don Quixote. As founder, chairman, and CEO of Entertainment Studios, Allen makes over $100 million annually syndicating and selling ad time on low-budget shows like “Comics Unleashed” and “We the People With Gloria Allred,...

When we were invited along to the set of Johannes Roberts’ survival thriller 47 Metres Down, a film set in Mexico, it took us by surprise somewhat when we were informed it was in fact Basildon where we’d be spending the day. It does make perfect sense, however, that the shoot takes place in Essex, for it’s the home of the unique Underwater Studio – and it’s here the vast majority of this narrative unfolds, on the bed of the ocean.
The premise is simple – two sisters, played by Mandy Moore and Claire Holt, get trapped in a cage on the sea bed, 47 Metres Down (of course) and with a dwindling supply of oxygen. Naturally you would just assume they could swim upwards and ensure their safety – but there are sharks circling. For Roberts, the man behind The Other Side of the Door and Storage 24...

From New Line Cinema comes “Annabelle: Creation,” with David F. Sandberg (“Lights Out”) helming the follow up to 2014’s hugely successful “Annabelle,” which scared up nearly $257 million at the worldwide box office during its run in theaters. The new film is once again being produced by Peter Safran and James Wan, who previously partnered on “The Conjuring” hit movies.
