Whats Beth been up to!
However i like how Beths character is handled and the introduction of Noah! She really has changed much and is not affraid to act or speak her mind to those in charge! Really shows how far she got, spending time with Daryl!
Noah also becomes very likeable quickly as this kind helpfull guy!
However the new characters, the Police Officers, very quickly becomes unlikeable! I dont thi k i wanted to see someone die as bad as Gorman! Dawn also makes for a great new villain! Thinking the weak owe something to the strong!
What Happened to Beth?
In this episode "Slabtown," Beth awakes and finds herself in a hospital under the control of a strict policewoman named Dawn. Beth is not happy how the place is run similar to a boot camp. Beth befriends one of the pages and together they plot a way to escape the hospital.
Overall, this is a good episode but it's nothing amazing, especially after the first three episodes. But then again, it's important that we not forget about Beth. The whole hospital setup was intriguing, but Beth in a lead role may not have been the greatest move on the creators part. But it was an interesting episode to watch.
My Grade: B
Low key, slow paced but great none the less
We have a guest appearance from 'Everybody hates Chris' which kind of ruined the vibe for me personally, I always love to see 'new' actors rather than big names as they are always destined to go either way: last the remainder of the entire show (end of season 6+!) or have a cameo role.
The storyline from the start to midway of this 45 minute episode is a 6 at best, but the directors obviously want you to understand from the base up where Beth is and how she got there. Once past the halfway point in this episode, the viewer finally realises why this episode is rather lacklustre compared to those before it, totally changing the review score.
I'd say that the cliffhanger at the end isn't so exciting as the rest but I am really looking forward to Daryl and Carol's branched story. Overall, this is an episode that introduces the viewer to a fresh scenario. Not every episode is going to be jaw-dropping and this is a good change of pace.
First Deception in this Wonderful Fifth Season
"Slabtown" is a cold shower in this wonderful Fifth Season with a deceptive episode. The plot shows Beth and new characters that live in a hospital in a strange and flawed society. Unfortunately neither the story nor the characters are engaging; actually they are forgettable. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Slabtown"
Note: On 18 April 2016, I saw this show again.

- TriviaThe opening scene which showed a close up of Beth's (Emily Kinney) face while she opened her eyes was inspired by the scene from the pilot episode, Days Gone Bye (2010), in which Rick (Andrew Lincoln) essentially does the same thing.
- GoofsBeth has a new scar over her right forehead near the end of the episode after Dawn strikes her. However, Dawn clearly smacks the left side of Beth's face in the scene immediately prior.
- Quotes
[Dawn tells Beth the truth of what she see's in Beth]
Officer Dawn Lerner: Every sacrifice we make needs to be for the greater good. The second it isn't, the second we lose sight of that, it's all over. The thing is, you're not the greater good. You're not strong enough.
Beth Greene: I am strong.
Officer Dawn Lerner: How many people had to risk their lives to save you? In here, you are part of a system. The wards keep my officers happy. The happier my officers are, the harder they word to keep us going. And this hasn't been easy. There have been compromises, but it's working. And after they rescue us, we're gonna help put the world back together. Because we're the ones holding on. That's the good we're doing here. That's the good you're doing here. That makes you worth something. But out there... you are nothing. Except dead or somebody's burden.
Beth Greene: That's bullshit.
Officer Dawn Lerner: Oh, yeah? I saw this the night you came in.
[Dawn holds up Beth's arm revealing the cut on Beth's wrist]
Officer Dawn Lerner: Is this bullshit, too? Some people just aren't made for this life, and that's okay. As long as they don't take advantage of the one's who are.
