Kicking off with a tribute to the Blues Brothers from the evening’s host Jimmy Fallon, last night’s “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” pulled out all the stops in celebrating the show’s rich musical history, as well as the influence music has had on its comedy. The SNL 50: Homecoming Concert at Radio City Music Hall Friday was one of the starriest and genre-bending concerts in recent history.

The concert, which took place ahead of the show’s big three-hour anniversary special Sunday, saw performances from Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Lady Gaga (who took took part in a musical sketch with Lonely Island and returned with a performance of “Shallow”), Nirvana, led by Post Malone, Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dog, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef, David Byrne, Arcade Fire and St. Vincent, Eddie Vedder, Devo, The White Stripes and more.

The artists who performed had a connection to SNL, as did the invite-only crowd, which was made up of those who had worked at the late night sketch show or had a connection to someone who had.

DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn recently shared our first official look at Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow via a behind-the-scenes image, and if you're familiar with Tom King's acclaimed DC Comics miniseries of the same name, the setting of the photo will likely have looked very familiar.

The shot features star Milly Alcock in a hoodie (Kara will almost certainly be in-costume for this scene in the movie), facing what looks a lot like a bar counter. In the Woman of Tomorrow comic, the Girl of Steel and her companion, Ruthye, take a little break from their revenge mission and travel to a space-bar for a drink.

Here, Kara is confronted by an alien who blames her for her cousin Superman imprisoning his brothers in the Phantom Zone. As you might expect, the altercation doesn't work out so well for the instigator.

David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer) and Emily Beecham (Into The Badlands) have joined the production as Kara Zor-El's parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze.

Update: The original report only mentions that Beecham and Krumholtz are playing "Supergirl's parents," so there's a chance they have actually been cast as Kara's human adoptive parents, Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers.

The trade has also confirmed that Milly Alcock will make her Dcu debut as the Girl of Steel in James Gunn's Superman.

While speaking to Omelette.com in a recent interview, Gunn said he had no intention of making Kara Zor-El's solo outing the second Dcu film until he read the script by actress and playwright Ana Nogueira.

Krumholtz and Beecham will be playing Supergirl’s parents in the film, who are known as Zor-El and Alura in the comics. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be directed by Craig Gillespie and scripted by Ana Nogueira. It’s based on the comic series of the same name written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. After her father is murdered and the one responsible is still out there, a young alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll seeks out Supergirl to help her on a vicious mission. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost.

In December 2022, an eagle-eyed fan on X, formerly Twitter, noticed a mention of the president of Salem’s city council as being Cass Winthrop. This was a nod to the Another World character of the same name. Stephen Schnetzer played Cass from 1982 until 1999 and recently reprised his Days role as Steven Olson. Now comes another reference to an old soap. And the fans were on top of it.

I’m Rachel Dillin, Editor-in-Chief of Soap Hub, and I’m so thankful for the news of the first new soap opera in 25 years. Anticipation is high for Beyond the Gates, and I can’t wait to watch from day one. With a great cast and a wonderful writers’ room, this daytime drama is sure to be one for the ages.

Additionally, I’m so happy for villains like Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and Luna (Lisa Yamada) on The Bold and the Beautiful. Speaking of villains, it’s been a great year for them on The Young and the Restless, with Cameron (Linden Ashby) making an unexpected reappearance. Plus, I’m thrilled to see Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Ian (Ray Wise) back in Genoa City.

Thai film director Paween Purijitpanya has directed “Tomorrow and I,” a four-part anthology series for Netflix. It covers topics including cloning, prostitution, religion and global warming.

The series expands the streamer’s roster of Thai content and represents its first from the country in the sci-fi register. The show will upload from Dec. 4.

Purijitpanya is known for his previous films including “Body,” “Phobia,” “Phobia 2” and “Ghost Lab.” He also directed Gmm series “Girl From Nowhere.” “[‘Making ‘Tomorrow and I’] was challenging because everything had to be newly created — the appearance of the city, clothing, technology, and the shape of various devices. In the end, these elements were essential for building a realistic world and helped the actors understand their characters better,” he said.

The first episode “Black Sheep,” is an intense drama featuring Boy-Pakorn Chatborrirak, Ink-Waruntorn Paonil, and Poyd-Treechada Hongsyok about an attempt to bring back to life a dead astronaut.
