Need to find some ways to entertain your favorite little ghouls this Halloween season? Then look no further! Since one of my favorite things to do when I’m not working is to lose track of time for hours on Pinterest, I come across a lot of fantastic craft ideas for kids that should get them into the Halloween spirit this October, and I picked my favorite ten to share with you here on Daily Dead.

While I have fun carving pumpkins the traditional way as much as the next person, I have enjoyed the recent surge in folks finding new ways to utilize everyone’s favorite fall-time gourd, whether it be decorating them in unexpected ways or even using them as functional party supplies for your spooky shindigs this year.

Here’s a look at ten different unusual ways you can use and decorate your pumpkins this October that I came across while going down the rabbit hole that is Pinterest. And for those of you looking for something a bit more long-term, feel free to utilize foam pumpkins found at any local hobby store to reuse your creations each and every year.

One helpful tip: if you are going to carve the reusable pumpkins, you’ll need a HotKnife (which can be found at any crafting retailer) to create the best cuts into the foam.

On the heels of last Wednesday’s announcement in The Hollywood Reporter’s annual film school rankings that Chapman University (where I am currently teaching) remains steady at #7, the Academy announced the finalists for the Student Academy Awards.

Chapman has three films that were selected.

Typically nominees in the Animation category are from the top animation schools such as Cal Arts and this year’s success suggests Chapman is joining those ranks.
