Flipped through Netflix and found this. Liked this more than I thought I would.
This is the 2nd film in a 4-part series. They throw you in the deep end without backstory, but I didn't have much trouble figuring out based on the context.
This film revolves around a group of teens with powers who're trying to shut down a supernatural event that brings monsters into the world each day for an hour. There is a very dramatic for two of the characters, which I won't reveal.
The film moves at a leisurely pace deftly handling both drama/dialogue and action. I liked all the myriad characters and the humor. The big climax is effective and touching.
Animation is beautiful in this. One of the best looking anime films of the decade. The monster designs are distinctive. Macabre/whimsical if you will.
Sadly, the cost of the films (which are imported instead of distributed through American companies) are pricey and none of the other films are on Netflix.
