The movie wasn't bad, but was OK. This movie felt like a decent community musical that was filmed for TV. I rented this movie, not knowing that Jana Kramer was in it but was surprised, because I am from Michigan and so was she . Her performance was fairly good. It reminded me of CW style One Tree Hill-like movie-making with a tad bit more musical numbers. I was expecting a military like movie, with the Marine element but I found that it made the military uniform rather sloppy in representation. Jana Kramer did a much better job in "Heart of the Country" as an actress, because you actually got to see her perform as Faith. Also, in her indie-film American Legion charity movie that she did way back in the day, I think it was called "Approaching Midnight", they had better military representation in uniforms. I will say this for sure, SOPHIE TWEED SIMMONS as AINSLEY Stole the Show in the film, which was Andrew Cymek's best casting choice overall. The plot was sort of forced but that's okay, because that is the style of the film. I am not a fan of the Hallmark style TV Movies in a whole. But if you are a fan of that quaint Hallmark like effect, I think you will enjoy this for what it is.

Super cheesy, but still enjoyable if you don't expect too much. I actually burst out laughing when the first musical number started because it seemed so out of place.

Classic Hollywood style musical, country set, set to country music. Pretty people well-filmed, time-worn and time-tried story accompanied by pleasant, if unmemorable music.
Adequate commercial product.

Okay, when I first saw this summary I thought maybe I could relate. Being a city girl, it seemed cute that a boy would go after her. However, the summary and the actual story line don't seem to match up. This is about a struggling singer trying to get her big break and about a guy who has experienced a lot in his life. And the main girl on the cover is barely even in the movie, I was so confused about that.
Anyway, after realizing that this is a musical I kinda chuckled a lot. It just didn't give me that musical vibe from the first 5 minutes then bam, the brother is breaking into song.
As for the acting, it could definitely be better, but the voices are killer. I actually bought some songs as a result of watching the movie. If these actors were as good at acting as they are singing, we'd have a gold mind right here.
I actually recommended it to a friend, if you like cheesy movies then you'll def love this.

I don't understand the negative reviews. Sure it's not 'A River Runs Though It' caliber type of film. But it is cute, sweet, innocent, good vs evil, love story. Good music, everybody who sang did wonderful. And as far as the 'music without warning ' comment..... for heaven's sake ever heard of a musical? And the characters did have chemistry. Munro Chamber, Madeline Merlo, Jana Kramer and of-course there is my favorite Kevin McKerry. I enjoyed Country Crush.

This movie gets a hard pass from me. We couldn't finish it. The singing voices are fine but the movie is just plain nonsense. Like a minute in I'm thinking this is the typical sappy hallmark type cheap TV movie just maybe a bit cheaper with even lower level acting then suddenly it turns into a musical. It wasn't well directed or choreographed with real oddball scenes like seriously who sings there in that situation? Even for a musical it came off unreal and stupid. It is a very predictable story, the star is only in it for a very small amount of time, the singing was OK but the songs overall are quite forgettable, the story is paint by numbers, the acting is very weak, it just seems like amateur hour. Made it half way through but know exactly what was going to happen and just couldn't take any more. Bad TV movie.
I ironically and unironically LOVE this movie. I had 0 idea going into it that it was a musical which just made the whole experience 10x funnier.
Is the acting amazing the whole time? No. Is the timeline a little confusing/rushed at times? Yes. BUT do the leads actually make me feel something and make me root for the main couple? Absolutely! Also the songs are pretty good.
I would describe this movie as "a somewhat less goody-two-shoes Hallmark country musical with a slightly higher budget".
It's a fun movie in that if you aren't laughing with it you'll be laughing at it.
Munro Chambers shines in this movie. He's giving his all to this role and it shows.

The movie started out promising in the first couple of minutes and then one of the characters broke out into song and that's when I knew that this was going to be a cheesy movie. I just didn't realize that it was going to get worse from there but it was too late to stop. There are a few things wrong with this movie: 1) The wife of the brother of the main character is shown as the main character on the movie poster. She is a supporting character at most. 2) The songs are cheesy and terrible. Sung by mediocre actors/singers. 3) The main characters relationship accelerated quickly with no development to show a deep connection except for one cheesy night at a small town hoopla. 4) Acting and singing was terrible all around. Had to fast forward or look away.
Don't waste your time watching this one. I wish I would have looked up a review first before proceeding to watch. I could have stopped watching midway but I ain't no quitter.

Yes, this movie is totally cheesy, but have you ever tasted really delicious, mouth-watering cheese? Every single cheesy bite of this movie is pure heaven. The musical numbers are stuck in, the plot is predictable, but sometimes a movie just works and this one works flawlessly; it's better than "The Holiday," "Dirty Dancing," or "Titanic" all rolled together; it makes "Downton Abbey" look thin, and "Notting Hill" look anemic. But warning; this movie is super-addictive! Watch at your own risk.

One of the characters broke into song in the first few minutes... I knew I was in trouble after that. My mom had the remote so I had to endure what felt like four hours of ongoing singing. The singing itself was mediocre at best and sometimes occurred at inappropriate times. Right after someone was done, another one breaks out into song. I predicted over half the plot... this movie had more clichés than any movie I've ever seen. I would rather watch the Emoji Movie on repeat than watch this again. The characters barely even formed any connections and there was no real development. The wife of the brother is displayed as a main character yet is barely even in the movie. Acting is incredibly awkward as well...

This was an okay film, if you want to see Jana Kramer at her prime, I personally suggest "Approaching Midnight," or "Heart of the Country" ... I just couldn't understand the musical numbers in this movie, they seemed unrealistic and took you out of the story process, but the characters and locations where actually pretty nice and good looking. The composition of the cinematography is pretty good as well, but I was hoping to see more of the Texas film location where it takes place.

First, this is basically a musical. Several times, the actors break into song often with two or more main singers.
Second, I picked this because Jana Kramer is the first headliner. She might be one of the main three, but she is not number one. I was hoping she was the main singer, but Merlo and Chambers sing more. Charlie and Nancy's story gets more screen time. There is a nice climax.
One of the morality messages is about selling yourself to get ahead. It is cliche and not done that well. Another is about hard things in life. But in a musical, I'd expect story take second place. The singing is good especially Merlo and Chambers. Not that Kramer's performances are any less good, but like I said she does not get as many shots.

While this movie wasn't really that great I can't stop thinking about it. I've listened to the soundtrack multiple times since watching it. It was predictable but I still enjoyed it. If you choose to watch it don't expect too much just take it for what it's worth. Fair warning Charlie is just about the only actually likable character.

Don't be misled by the somewhat hokey plot; this movie is a classic. It has everything you could ask for in a great film: drama, emotion, love, danger, evil, depth, conflict, tragedy and subtle nuances that are easily missed. It's is not a typical Hallmark-type movie at all, so don't overlook this stunning film.

Have you ever tasted something both cheesy and super-yummy? That is this movie! It's terrible, but it's also irresistible and delicious, like "The Holiday," "Dirty Dancing," and "Romeo and Juliet" all rolled into one mouth-watering pastry.

Musical is not one of my favorite genre but i have seen a lot of movies through the years. This was good but not the best the storyline was the weakest with bad writing for characters such as Jana Kramer(Katherine Bishop)she had the least development out of all from beginning to end we know nothing about her character except she's a stay at home mom waiting for her husband (Cody Bishop)to return.
The Best thing I like was the performance by the characters interacting showing their emotion in singing and the soundtrack is great. I also find myself re watching this movie like other musical because they always entertain me the most when in a bad mood. This musical was less annoying and simple compare to Disney teen bop musical.
Some of the acting wasn't great the weakest was Nancy but good singer. For me the strongest acting was Munro(Charlie Bishop) how he was dealing with giving up his dreams for family, school, his brother, love and lost. I'm not expecting strong acting in a musical but does it make them a bad actor? No. It's just a lame excuse to hate it because it's a musical doesn't make it bad. It's like saying John Travolta, Johnny Depp,Zac Efron and Huge Jackman is a bad actor because they in a musical knowingly you not going find strong acting here because all you see is singing.
Musical will always be the most hated genre why? It's not my favorite genre but i don't hate it but find it enjoyable, amusing and make me feel happy. Overall good singing by actors but wish they keep the storyline simple.

Personally, I've seen a lot worse and thought it was actually pretty good. Kept me intrigued through the whole movie. Good story and good music. The acting here and there was kind of corny, but it's also not an A-list movie people. You can't expect The Notebook or something of the like. Most romance movies are corny and cheesy, this one, just a little more so haha. People can be harsh and judgemental. At least they're out there making a movie and a name for themselves.
