"The Adventures of Paula Peril" introduces a two-fisted girl reporter who tangles with mobsters and a murderous religious cult. She's kind of like a combo of Lois Lane and Lara Croft, in a movie whose budget appears to have been about twenty bucks.
I was unfamiliar with the Peril character before watching this indie B Movie, which was apparently cobbled together from three short films based on an obscure comic book series.
I will admit that it's fun to watch Valerie Perez as "Paula" kicking bad-guy butt while wearing tight sweaters and high-heel boots, but the flick suffers from cardboard sets, silly dialogue and community-theater level acting. A quick glance at IMDb reveals that there are further "Paula" film shorts in the works. The character definitely has potential to become a cult item, but this first "Adventure" shows that she's not quite ready for prime time yet.

Paula Peril (winningly portrayed by the giga-gorgeous Valerie Perez) is an incredibly bright, STUNNINGLY attractive, and formidably athletic (she can whup FIVE adversaries at a time!) young woman, who was taught by her wealthy parents that she could become whatever she wanted. Rather than relying upon her family's money, however, she is determined to succeed-- on her own. Landing a position at The Big City Daily Gazette, Paula promptly assumes the paper's MOST dangerous job, & soon becomes Big City's most glamorous & successful Investigative Reporter! Her journalism focuses on fighting crime, as well as examining the truth behind "supernatural" phenomena. But, because of her tenacity and skill in unraveling these mysteries, Paula's relentless snooping also exposes HER to deadly, "Cliffhanger-Style" peril-- helplessly trapped in the clutches of evil villains, who'd like nothing better than to do away with this bothersome beauty, in dozens of inventive ways! As a result, Paula constantly finds herself squirming and struggling-- valiantly, vociferously, and ultimately (so FAR!) victoriously-- to escape yet another lethal predicament...

I love Paula Peril! The series is super fun, lots of action Great script and excellent production quality!
One of the most fun aspects of the show is that Paula is an action hero and not always a Damsel in Distress!
Valerie Perez is so beautiful and an amazing actress The on camera chemistry with the other actors is amazing.
These are usually short films, up to 30 minutes in length The writing is sharp and really well done.
Paula is the 21st Century Lois Lane and she is in no need for a Superman to get the job done!
