The Doctor Who franchise is one that has run for a very long time, and only some seasons have really reached the level of greatness that the show is so well-known for. This wealth of content has been great for long-time fans, but it also makes it difficult for new fans to find the right place to jump in and start watching. This is only made more difficult because Doctor Who has so many spin-off series, with some of these series being better than others.
A variety of different factors go into making a season better than the rest, including the characters included and the season and the stories told as the show goes on. The ambitious Doctor Who companions make a big impact as well, with their personalities playing off of The Doctor in each episode. While no season is safe from bad episodes, some have many more good episodes than bad ones.

Doctor Who is famous for featuring one or more companions that travel alongside the Doctor, but there are also instances in which a one-off companion steals the show. Typically, the best Doctor Who companions stick around for one or more seasons. However, some of the greatest Doctor Who stories introduce a companion who only appears in one episode, or a two-part adventure.
Despite this, these one-off characters are so fantastic that audiences fall in love with them. Unfortunately, the fates of these personalities aren’t always positive. Some suffer a terrible fate before they are able to board the Tardis, although this isn’t an exclusive rule, and others only stay as a one-off companion for other reasons. Doctor Who’s companions come and go in different ways, but to make such an impact in one story is an impressive feat.

The upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special is set to reveal a side of the Doctor that it rarely features. After Ruby Sunday left the Tardis in the season 14 finale, the Doctor is preparing to celebrate another Christmas before season 15's May 2025 premiere. It will be his last appearance in 2024 and will leave a months-long hiatus before his next adventure. The special has been titled "Joy to the World" and will premiere on December 25.
While the holiday should be a delightful time for many of its viewers, it will be a lonely period for the Doctor. In an interview with GamesRadar+, writer and former showrunner Steven Moffat offered early insight into the episode. While acknowledging that the show is largely about the companions, Moffat admitted that this special will see the Doctor alone. The episode will explore who he actually is without having to put on a show for his companions.

An McU-style Whoniverse – one giant pulsating Cthulhu-like Doctor Who monster with multiple tentacles and limbs stretching in every direction – has always been the plan. Showrunner Russell T Davies has made no secret of that. He wants Doctor Who to be everything, everywhere, all at once, and why shouldn’t it be?
The first part of that plan was officially announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. A five-part miniseries entitled The War Between the Land and the Sea is about to go into production, starring Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. It’ll be available to watch in 2025 on BBC One and Disney+.
So (drums fingernails on desk) what else you got? According to the Sdcc 2024 diary from Bad Wolf’s Julie Gardner, published as part of the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine, there are plans. Or at least hints of teases of plans. In Gardner’s entry...

Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) and his fiancée, interior designer Mindy Noce, have opened up about their “heaven-sent” relationship.
In January, the V.P. contender, 58, proposed to Noce, 47, just before the New Hampshire primary. The couple is set to exchange vows on August 3 in Charleston, South Carolina.
After months of speculation about Scott’s love life, Scott brought his girlfriend on stage last November after the debate in Miami. Scott’s team confirmed that the pair had been dating for “several months” after eagled-eyed views spotted Noce smiling for the cameras.
In an interview on Fox & Friends, the couple addressed the criticism they have faced, particularly from ABC’s The View, who insinuated that the senator only proposed to be in the running for vice president.
Noce, a Charleston-area designer, has three grown children from a previous marriage, while Scott has never been married before. The pair, who were set...

Doctor Who’s Biggest Problem Is A Complete Lack of Conflict - Main Image
Iconic TV director and BBC veteran Russell T. Davies has now revived Britain’s iconic sci-fi serial Doctor Who for the second time. Following Chris Chibnall’s rough treatment of the series, Davies’ new-new-Who is attempting a bold revitalization of the series with a larger focus on fantasy elements, but underlying issues are causing the series to fall flat.
The latest season of Doctor Who, for the first time in decades, simply lacks a strong hook. The Eccleston and Tennant eras’ Time War edge brought a modern, almost-hbo appeal to the series, Matt Smith’s era focused on exploring The Doctor’s relationship with his companions and the brilliant Capaldi era explored whether or not The Doctor is actually a good man with some of the best conflicts the series has ever seen. *Warning — this review contains some spoilers for 'Boom'*
Ever since Ncuti Gatwa took over the Tardis keys to become Doctor Who’s Fifteenth Doctor, things have been pretty non-stop for everybody’s favourite Time Lord. From playing cosmic catch with Neil Patrick Harris’ Toymaker in 60th anniversary special debut ‘The Giggle’, to scat-battling a goblin king with new companion Ruby Sunday (Gibson) in Christmas outing ‘The Church On Ruby Road’, to run-ins with space babies, bogeymen, Beatles, and the celestial embodiment of music itself in 'Space Babies' and 'The Devil's Chord', there’s barely been a moment for the Doctor — or indeed the show’s viewers — to take a breath. All of that changes with ‘Boom’, a stripped back, slowed down, and cheek-clenchingly suspenseful character study from former Who showrunner — and Weeping Angels creator — Steven Moffat.

Moffat's return to Doctor Who in "Boom" showcased emotional complexity, action, and a romance subplot. "Blink" was a standout Doctor-lite episode with a simple yet powerful monster in the Weeping Angels. "Heaven Sent" stood as Moffat's best episode, exploring themes of grief with the Doctor monologuing for centuries.
Following the release of Steven Moffats most recent Doctor Who episode, Boom, it was worth considering which of his episodes are the very best. Steven Moffat was one of Doctor Whos ex-showrunners and took charge during the eras of Matt Smiths Eleventh Doctor and Peter Capaldis Twelfth Doctor. Throughout Moffats time in control of the show, and even before, he crafted some of the greatest episodes of Doctor Who ever.

"Heaven Sent" is one of the most tragic episodes in Doctor Who history, and new fan art has summed it up with a single image. "It's Fine Without Me": Former Doctor Who Showrunner Sets The Record Straight About Potential Return
Former showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed that he has no plans to return to Doctor Who, despite speculation and social media posts. He believes the show is fine without him. Moffat's take on the Time Lord redefined the character as a legendary figure who could effortlessly chase away monsters and help anyone feel at ease. He also gave the Doctor a chance to heal from his trauma. While Moffat's era faced criticism, his contributions to Doctor Who, such as "Heaven Sent," "Blink," and "The Curse of Fatal Death," have had a lasting impact on the fandom.
Former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat reveals his honest answer to the chances of him returning to the series. Moffat began his involvement in the franchise between the classic series' conclusion and its revival in 2005, and would join the production of Christopher Eccleston's season as a writer. Choosing your favourite Doctor Who episode feels a bit like choosing your favourite child, except you probably don’t have 800-plus children, so maybe it’s even worse.
But that’s exactly what Doctor Who Magazine inflicted on fans earlier this year, sugaring the pill ever so slightly by combining all the multiple-episode stories into one, which helpfully narrowed the choice from over 800 episodes to 300 “TV adventures”.
Who fans were tasked with rating all episodes out of ten – narrowing it down to 37 stories – and then asked to pick their top five from this list. After much number crunching, the top 10 TV adventures were revealed.
And there was one clear winner: “Heaven Sent”.
This 2015 Peter Capaldi-era episode was certainly powerful and memorable. The Doctor was grieving Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), after she was executed in the previous episode, “Face The Raven”. In “Heaven Sent”, The Doctor is trapped in a strange castle,...

The twelfth incarnation of the Doctor was stern and fearless, bearing the marks of a two-thousand-year-old Time Lord in a more transparent manner. Now, a new video posted on Doctor Who‘s official YouTube channel compiles Capaldi’s best moments as the Twelfth Doctor.
To many, he was known as the Hybrid. To some, he was known as the President. But to us, he will always be the Magician. When Steven Moffat, the series’ previous executive producer, chose Peter Capaldi to play the Doctor, he intended to show a darker aspect of the character and move away from the quirkiness of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors, played by David Tennant and Matt Smith, respectively. He was successful at that, and Capaldi’s different take resulted in admiration and respect from Whovians all around the globe.

There’s a lot of elements that make Doctor Who great – spectacular acting, set, costume and creature design, direction, etc. – but it’s hard to argue that a good script isn’t key for a show that’s known for its big imagination. And for those interested in the writing of the long-running sci-fi series, the BBC has now released a selection of scripts from the modern version of the show on its Script Library service for your reading pleasure.
There are currently 14 scripts available to read online, plucked from across the past 14 years of the revived series and from the pens of various writers. Season 3 opener “Smith and Jones” from former showrunner Russell T. Davies is the earliest script up for grabs, while the most recent is the premiere of season 11, “The Woman Who Fell To Earth,” Jodie Whittaker’s first adventure as the Thirteenth Doctor which was written by current showrunner Chris Chibnall.
