Aging PI Sam Aquino who's contemplating retirement, due to a competing company takes on a case involving Lisa, the daughter of Sandra, who's a close personal friend of Sam's assistant Donna, who's goes missing from their home. At the same time Sam's granddaughter Megan seeks help through Donna to obtain her adoption papers from her mother Christine.

Megan and her girlfriends visit their local coffee shop hangout, where Megan gets into an altercation with a local bully, but is aided by their friend, and coffee shop owner Jonathan. Still upset over her adoption papers, Megan then takes her frustrations out on her girlfriends, while Sam makes a personal visit to the Alliance Surveillance company to obtain clues about Lisa's disappearance.

While Sam gets a visit from socialite Marjorie Rivers who hires Sam to follow her husband, Donna invites mother's Sandra, and Christine to lunch to discuss her gut feelings concerning Lisa's disappearance, and both their daughters. Christine finally has a long heart to heart talk with Megan that changes both their lives forever.

Sam's assistant Donna tries to calm Sam, when he learns of Megan, and the girls plans to actively search for Lisa, which now appears to have been a kidnapping. Detective Hernandez shares some troubling Information with Sam, and Donna about other possible kidnappings linked to Alliance Surveillance, which causes Sam to contact his informant.
