I was so hesitant at first ,, so the trailer , i thought it would be like a cheap sleazy style of some rappers, but i was so wrong, and boy! glad i watched.
The plot is so tight and the script is quick and unexpectedly really funny ,, and in a weird messed up way it tells a nice story about that boy who wants to make it into the hip hop game being managed by his school friend.
the cast did an amazing job,, literally everyone,, the two leads ,KYLE who's a very good rapper in real life and that boy Harrison Holzer, he's really funny. wished to see more of Andy Buckley's comedy ,, he would have been a nice addition if he had more lines.
final thought, I usually don't like these type of movies, like Music comedy but here there was literally just two times where there is "music" and the rest was a nice drama comedy movie ... so recommended , go watch it .

Seizures aren't a joke? News flash: the entire world is a joke. Get off of your artificial high horse and call this for what it is. A running gag the internet 100% would have had a field day with had this really happened. So just shut up. You're not earning brownie points for pretending to care... ANYWAY. The acting by Kyle was genuine, believable, and honestly pretty damn solid. Verses were solid too. Nothing incredibly groundbreaking, but well-delivered and more than worth hearing. Movie seemed choppy as a whole and there were some loose ends that just kind of faded away, but they weren't going for an Oscar here, folks. A few awkward moments/acting were a bit cringeworthy (even said so in the script), but overall a decent film with some epic cameos. If you have a free hour and a half to spend, there are MUCH worse ways. Wouldn't mind seeing Kyle take on some more roles.
Alright so the story in itself is not really surprising. It would be surprising if anyone is surprised by "twists" or the general progression of the story. Still the actors do a fine job selling their characters and playing off each other. Chemistry works and there are quite a few cameos of musicians (even a short appearnace by DMX for example).
If that floats your boat, you might have fun with this. Especially if you let it play out and just enjoy it for what it is. You might have to be in the right mood for it, liking the music is helping too. Try not to be too cynical and you're halfway there. The movie exist for a reason. It's decent overall.

I mean, great faces: wiz, khaled and all the others. Light story, good actors, jokes that try to be smart, but end up being nothing great, but you know i liked it, you can enjoy it without too much expectations.

The After Party is good for what it is; which is a late night Netflix gamble. The plot is sort of mediocre, but the characters are all hilarious and Kyle is entertaining to watch. I have absolutely no complaints about spending an hour and fifteen minutes watching this.

I think people critique this film way too hard for what it was.
Maybe they were expecting the next 8 mile?
It was more party x meets sex drive and totally worth the watch.
Kyles acting was actually really good and I would love to see him in other movies.
Give it a chance; haters gonna hate.

And you'll most likely enjoy this movie. It's one of those movies that are perfect for a rainy weekend. Kyle (Seejah Boy) can actually rap freestyle nicely.

This movie was enjoyable and has some good jokes. But like every movie it suffers from some unfunny parts and the movie doesn't take itself seriously enough it would be a lot better if the people behind it were a bit more passionate
Was not expecting much from this Netflix film. The plot is the typical coming of age/underdog story but for an aspiring rapper. It is of course predictable in that when something bad happens, in the end it will all work out. The comedy is lacklustre and the story feels a little far fetched. It definitely feels a little rushed at forced at times.
The acting by the lead is passable and he's easy to root for. The friend tries too hard at being funny. The After Party reminds somewhat of the Harold and Kumar films. Overall the film isn't great but passable at times for fans of hip hop of this generation. Nothing groundbreaking.

I liked some of the editing, music and cinematography because it did have it's own style to it at some points but the plot is really weak, the pacing is all over the place, the acting is trash, the celebrity cameos felt very out of place and forced and the "comedy" sucks.
You might get some enjoyment out of it i've you're a big HipHop fan but otherwise don't waste your time with this movie.

Really didnt see me liking this movie that much. KYLE does a nice job especially his flow which evident on his EPIC freestyle burn lol. I did have an issue with the actor chosen as his friend, he seemed a bit over the top to me and i feel if his role was cast better this could be a cult classic. his inclusion makes it more of a cheesy movie in line with the wiz ans snoop highshchool movie. SPOILER ALERT best scene hands down is DMX in the strip club now thats how you have a cameo lmao

Shame on Netflix and everyone else involved in the making of this movie that mocks people who actually suffer from seizures. Nothing about epilepsy is funny. People who suffer from it already struggle to feel comfortable and accepted in this society.

Three Milliom Americans battle Epilepsy every year. Three. Million.
You produce a movie. You want to make a hero? An Internet star? There are a MILLION reasons a video may have gone viral. You had to choose one making fun of a serious neurological disorder! And portray it poorly and inaccurately? Have you any idea how hard it is for these kids in school already? Or adults who can't drive or who struggle at work? For the up to 50,000 each year who die from direct or indirect related causes surrounding Epilepsy? For their remaining families??
I see no humor in that. Netflix should never have released. Sickening!

For allowing hollywood to mock a real disease AND FOR ALL THE CAMEOS GOING ALONG WITH THE JOKE. I would have said "hell no".
I just hope kids like me that have been dealing with this all their life don't see any further ridicule then they already have. I am fortunate, im a big guy that works out so not too many dare make fun of me.
I mean cmon, whats next? Downsyndromeboy? Stupid and I am also dissapointed for netflix & any others for showing this film.

Kids with epilepsy already have a hard time getting bullied in school. I pray that this isn't the catalyst of more kids thinking seizures are funny and to joke about. Suicide rates are high in people with epilepsy already. Way to help the stigma. Bunch of idiots.
I've had 2 friends die of a seizure in the past 2 years.
It's no effing joke!
