Scream (1996)
a great horror flick
I have to admit, when I first heard of "Scream" i thought it was gonna be a low-budget B-horror movie with nothing but blood and breasts. BUT it wasn't. I waited til it came on video, and me and my friends watched and we all loved it. It really didn't scare me but i loved it! I give "Scream" **** out of ****!!!!!
School Ties (1992)
great drama with so many great actors making there debuts.
I see this movie every once and a while on USA or TNT, I never watch all of it, but a few days ago I finally did and it was absolutely wonderful. It makes you wanna watch it again. Though some parts were slightly disturbing, the movie was still excellent. "School Ties" is set in the late 50s early 60s i do believe and a jewish kid goes to a basic prep school, all white, all Christian. He is a successful football player and makes many friends and is quite popular. But has to keep his religion in secret in fear of mockery and torment of his fellow classmates. Starring this wonderful cast, Brendan Fraser in his first major role, Matt Damon & Ben Affleck back when they were young and innocent. Before they had Oscar nominations starring in low-budget dramas. This movie is excellent, I give "School Ties" 10/10!
Sleepaway Camp (1983)
cheap, lame, but somehow entertaining
I rented this movie when I was in Florida 2 years ago, I had seen the sequels on HBO or Showtime, and they were dumb, but we had this free rental if your on vacation so I decided to take the chance. At first it's pretty interesting, then it got dumb, then interesting, then back to dumb. Then the ending was funny. Okay plot, okay writing, and mediocre acting.
"Sleepaway Camp" is set at a summer camp. Angela is forced to go by her extremely eccentric and offbeat aunt with her nice cousin, Ricky. Angela has a rather disturbing past, her father and twin sister were killed in a boat accident caused by a bunch of teens. Because Angela barely speaks and is slightly odd she is teased and harrassed by her fellow bunkmates. Then some of the staff members have been murdered or hurt. The first is the cook who tries to rape Angela, Ricky saves her in the nick of time. He is then severely burned by a boiling pot of water. And it keeps going, murdered, disappearings. All keep tracing back to Ricky. But that's not even the beginning of this twisted and offbeat b-horror movie. I give "Sleepaway Camp" ** out of ****
White Palace (1990)
Oh my goodness, I wanna make love to Susan Sarandon!
This romantic comedy/drama about a relationship with a young man and an older woman. Something I want to experience, especially with Susan Sarandon, yikes, she is downright sexy. Discovering she was in her 40s in this made it better. She has this maturity and experience it makes you wanna jump through the TV and.... Okay, I need to calm down. I actually found this movie to be somewhat boring beside that ONE unforgettable sex scene at the beginning. Whoo! Only becuase of Sarandon i give White Palace 10 out of 10!!!
The Breakfast Club (1985)
awesome 80's flick!
This drama/comedy/semi-romantic teen coming-of-age movie is one of my ALL time favorites. Hands down. Starring a majority of the Brat Packers, this is one of the most unforgetable movies of the 80s decade. "The Breakfast Club" is a fairly short movie about 5 seniors at a small town high school stuck in Saturday detention for 9 hours in a huge library. You've got all your different students: the prom queen(Molly Ringwald), the jock(Emilio Estevez), the brain(Anthony Michael Hall, the outcast(Ally Sheedy), & the criminal(Judd Nelson). At 7 a.m. they barely said a word, by 4 p.m. they had bared there souls to one another. With a very satisfying ending with a nice little prologue/epilogue by the great Anthony Michael Hall, "The Breakfast Club" is a movie I will never forget.
Sixteen Candles (1984)
an 80's classic!!!
This John Hughes film is one of the best romantic teen comedies in history. Starring 2 of the Brat Packers, Molly Ringwald, playing the lovesick Samantha, and Anthony Michael Hall who plays "The Geek", he pratically stole the entire movie with his one-liners. His friends were the best, it's funny to see John Cusack as one of his geeky friends, and I just noticed Joan Cusack makes a small appearance in this as the girl with the neck brace on. That's funny. I recommend this classic to anyone who likes romantic teen comedies. Oh and whoever said that "Sixteen Candles" was perverted, all i have to say is WHAT? What is perverted about this movie, American Pie was perverted, this movie is a classic. There was ONE scene of nudity and it lasted about 3 seconds. I give "Sixteen Candles" 10 out of 10!!!!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
an extremely offbeat musical that makes you wanna get up do the Time Warp!!!!
The first time you see this it makes you sick, the second time you see it you get use to it, you see it for the third time you get hooked! The classic cult film starring Tim Curry as the extreme Dr. Frank N Furter, the not-yet famous Susan Sarandon as the pretty and later on sexy Janet Weiss, and Barry Bostwick who plays the dorky Brad Majors, also starring the creator of this classic Richard O'Brien, i believe is his name, Meat Loaf, Little Nell, and many more!!! When I saw Susan Sarandon in a bra I couldn't believe my eyes, i had seen her in harmless movies like The Client and stuff, man, talk about a hottie! I know she's about 50 and has 3 kids, but geez! she was sexy!
I recommend this musical/comedy/sci-fi/cult classic to anyone who wants a laugh. I give "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" 9.5/10!!!!
Bio-Dome (1996)
I don't care what you say, this movie kicks ace!
Before I saw this movie, my friends told me it was dumb and don't go see it. Since Pauly Shore is the king of comedy, I saw it, and my friends were very wrong, this movie is hilarious! There were some parts that Pauly Shore seemed a little homosexual, like the way he talked and stuff. But it was still hilarious. It's your basic "so stupid it's funny" comedy about 2 lazy bum-like people, Bud and Doyle, who mistake the Bio-Dome for a mall. and they get locked in there with 5 other scientists for a year. And then the chaos begins. I give Bio-Dome 10 stars!!!
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
a classic horror film
This awesome horror film is an original that others copy off of. This is probly the most unique film ever made. It's original plot makes it a wonderful horror film. A movie that makes you think if your safe even in your own dreams. This film is about 16-year old Nancy Thompson, a nice girl with 3 best friends, Tina, Rod, and her boyfriend Glenn. Lately Nancy has been having nightmares about a man who is badly burned, wears a red and green sweater, a dirty hat, and has fingerknives. Nancy thinks she is going crazy, but soon discovers her friends is having the same dreams. After Nancy's friends start getting myseriously murdered. It's up to Nancy to stop this man.
I give "A nightmare on Elm Street" 10 stars !!!!!!
Sleepers (1996)
an extremely intense movie with an excellent plot and great acting
I knew from the beginning that this movie was going to be intense, and usually I can't handle intense movies, like "The Green Mile" or "End of Days". Graphical scenes, especially dealing with child abuse or sexual abuse. But I held in and watched this movie. It turned out to be one of my favorite movies. Wonderful acting and an excellent plot. Revenge. It can be sweet.
The first half of the movie is based from 1966 to 1968. Four best friends living in Hell's Kitchen, the west side streets of Manhatten. Shakes, Michael, John, and Tommy. They all live in safe streets but live in domestic violence. One hot summer day in 1967 the four boys pull what started as a harmless prank to almost killing a man. John, Michael, and Tommy were sentenced to no more than a year and a half, no less than a year, Shakes is sentenced from 6 months to a year. They are sent to Wilkinson's Home for Boys, a correction center that looks like a university. While in there the four guards, one of whom is played by Kevin Bacon, mentally, physically, and sexually abuse the four boys, completely alternating there life.
It's like 10 or 12 years later, John and Tommy are now gangsters and murderers, Michael is now a washed up lawyer fresh out of law school, and Shakes is a journalist for a paper. In a chance meeting, John and Tommy run into Knowles (Bacon) in a bar. They shoot him 7 times and leave the bar. Now there on trial, they murdered for a right reason. Revenge.
I give Sleepers 10 stars!
End of Days (1999)
an okay film, with an okay plot, but it makes you think
I was pretty anxious to see this movie, even though I'm not a big fan of Arnold, me and my friend saw it and the theatre was packed even after 3 weeks of its release, it was kind of like the Sixth Sense, the crowd i mean. This is your basic the-world-is-ending and satan disguised as a human tried to take over the earth by bearing a woman on earth. Well, it's not THAT basic of a plot but it was still boring. The movie dragged a bit, but Arnold, Tunney, Pollack, and the dude who played "The Man" did an excellent job. The effects were good and at some points i was on the edge of my seat. I give "End of Days" 8/10. I like chicken.
The Thirteenth Floor (1999)
entertaining, hard to follow, and it makes you think
I missed this movie in theaters, so i rented it. Since it's a sci-fi i knew it would be confusing a hella hard to follow if you came in the middle of it. And it was hard to follow! It's basically about a bunch scientists simulate another world set in 1937 and you can go back as someone else, but the scientists discover they are simulations also. I give "The Thirteenth Floor" 9/10!!
Freaks and Geeks (1999)
great show, love it!!!
I knew I would love this show and i do! The characters are so real and great and funny. High school has never changed if thats what high school was really like in 1980. I heard they might cancel this awesome show becuase of low ratings. They better not or I'm gonna whoop up on the NBC people. I give "Freaks and Geeks" ***** out of *****
Hurricane (1997)
it dragged a little but it was still good
I only rented this movie because Sexton was in it and i appraise him for his excellent work in "Welcome to the Dollhouse" and "Empire Records". I heard that this movie was real good if you like crime dramas, which i do. At first the movie was real upbeat and i liked it becuase i'm a teenager and i know alot of people that talk like that, i sometimes do. Towards the middle it kind of dragged and the ending was disappointing. Kind of like Welcome to the Dollhouse, you have to decide what's going to happen. But I still enjoyed, i give "Hurricane Streets" ***1/2 out of ****
It (1990)
i liked it, but the book was alot better
I saw this movie a long time ago when i was 6. It scared the bejeezus out of me. Of course I was 6 and I was scared of clowns then. When I saw it a few years later, I fell in love w/ it. It's one of Stephen King's best based-on movies. The first part was awesome, the second part w/ the adults was boring and stupid, the spider disappointed and actually made me laugh. I then read the book and the book scared me. It was so graphical and real. From then on I didn't like the movie as much. But I still watch it and enjoy. I give "It" ****1/2 out of *****
Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992)
weak but still entertaining
It's been almost 10 years since Isaac and a group of kids killed there parents. Police have found out, kind of strange 10 years and no one has noticed that 50 kids have taken over a small town. One mistake. Now the kids have been shipped to Hemingford, a town 20 miles away from Gatlin, and now they have a new leader, Micah. He was almost as freaky as Isaac, all he needed was that raspy voice and him and Isaac would've been a dead tie for freaky leaders.
A reporter and his rebelling son go to Hemingford to cover the story. The young son discovers the secret of the children. And it's up to him to stop them.
i give Children of the Corn ** out of ****
Lawn Dogs (1997)
STRANGE
This movie was slightly good. I think it's an independent movie so I'll cut it a break. 10-year old Devon is sheltered and is forced to walk around the neighborhood selling cookies so she can make friends. She comes across a 22-year old bum who mows lawns in her ritzy neighborhood. These two boys find out, one of who is fooling around with Devon's mom, and somewhat pick on the boy. It's an okay movie. I give 7/10 only on the grounds of Kathleen Quinlan is a total fox and i want to caress her body.
Dazed and Confused (1993)
great movie!!!!!!
Okay, I have many favorite movies but Dazed and Confused is in my Top 3. I LOVE this movie! It is sooooo awesome. Even though it is set in 1976, except the clothes and music nothing has changed about high school. You got your basic jocks, which makeup a majority of the movie, the popular girls, the bitches, the potheads, which makeup another majority, the greasers, the geeks, and the upcoming freshman, which are only 2. I love the way that mostly everyone is friends with everyone. All you have to do is drink beer and maybe smoke pot and everyone is cool with you. The main peoples are jocks Pink, Benny, Dawson, and others, O'Bannion the dumbass who is repeating his senior year, the nice girls are Jodi Kramer, Shavonne, and the girl who never talks forgot her name. The potheads are Pickford, Michelle, Slater, and more. The geeks who have a theory about everything are Cynthia, Mike, and Tony. The upcoming freshman are Mitch Kramer and Sabrina who both get with older high schoolers.
Anyways, Pickford is suppose to have a huge end of the year bash at his house, but the keg guy comes early and Pickford gets busted. Meanwhile, th e upcoming seniors are somewhat initiating the upcoming freshman. The boys suffer with paddles, but the girls get trashed and are forced to do embarrassing thing. While all this is going on, Mitch gets beat and the nice guy Pink offers Mitch to ride around, while the nice girl Jodi offers Sabrina to ride around too. It's got sooo many plots, you have to watch it. I give Dazed and Confused 9.5/10 only because it wasn't long enough.
P.U.N.K.S. (1998)
Good Good Good
I liked it! Loved it! It's a great movie about teammwork and friendship. The P.U.N.K.S. is about five kids, leader Drew, overweight Lanny, con artist Johnny, nerd Miles, and tomboy Samantha. The P.U.N.K.S. which isn't a gang or anything P.U.N.K.S. stands for to Protect the Underdog with Nerve, Knowledge, and Strength. PUNKS, get it? Anyways, Drew's father works for CRAP Crow Resources And Protection. HIs father (Randy Quaid) is making an Augmentor, it powers up the nervous system to make one strong. Drew is always let down by his father by broken promises, so for his birthday he invites Drew and Miles to the company to hang out. Miles somewhat accidentally gets into the files, but cant get a password. That's where Johnny comes in. They use Drew's garage where his father use to work for CRAP as there headquarters, you can get into the files and everything. They get into the files and find out that Crow's assisstant has changed the Augmentor, and if u keep it on you for 20 minutes 9 out of 10 chances it will fry your whole nervous, and if you have a heart condition, which Drew's father has, it could kill you in 5. So they decide to steal the Augmentor, but CRAP has mega security. That's where Johnny's cousin Samantha comes in. She is the expert breaking and entering person. They steal it successfully BUT Crow has a double. I'm not going to tell the whole movie, rent it and watch. I give P.U.N.K.S. 8.5/10!
Ready or Not (1993)
girly but good
I watch the show on Disney almost everyday after school at 3:30 pm. It's a little girly but it's pretty funny and good lessons. It's about these two completely different but very close friends. First there is Amanda Zimm, Amanda is Jewish, is an only child and has a torn home, her parents are divorced and she lives in an apartment with her mother. She is very poetic, very open, and is boy crazy. Then there is Elizabeth Ramone, she is mostly called Busy. Busy is an Italian Catholic, has three older brothers and two good parents. She is more of a tomboy, she plays sports, and plays the drums. These girls couldn't be anymore different but there best friends getting through high school. I give "Ready or Not" 6.5/10 stars.
3rd Rock from the Sun (1996)
LOve It, Love It, Love it LOVE IT!!!!
I love this show. John Lithgow, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, & Jane Curtin give excellent performance. The funniest people on the show are of course Kirsten Johnson, French Stewart, and Jan Hooks. Kirsten plays Sally Solomon a 6-foot tall, sexy model type, who really was a guy on her home planet and was a great warrior. French plays Harry, the stupid and hilarious guy who is the somewhat communication reciever from The Big, Giant Head. and Jan plays Vicki, Harry's lover. Jan Hooks is such a fox! I give 3rd Rock from the Sun(who you haven't guessed, they mean Earth, i'm sure you already know that) 10 stars on the jeff Scale! Thank you drive through.
1-2-3-Go! (1941)
pathetic excuse for a comedy
I am a huge fan of Our Gang/Little Rascals. As soon as Hal Roach sold Our Gang to MGM they shorts got more boring and more duller. 1-2-3 Go is a perfect example. Who would've thought that an obnoxious and annoying boy like Mickey Gubitosi would grow up to be Robert Blake. It astounds me! 1-2-3 Go is based around that Mickey gets hit by a car and the gang learns that alot of kids are injured by car hits. So the gang starts a 1-2-3 Go Safety Society. It's educational and boring. There were cute moments, actually 2. But I give 1-2-3 Go 2.5/10
Children of the Corn (1984)
the best of the best
I saw this movie for the first time when i was in 6th grade, four years later I still love this movie. I rent it as much as i can. I love all the characters, wonderful effects and great acting... We'll start with Burt and Vicki played by the great Peter Horton and Linda Hamilton. I like Horton's courage and Hamilton's strength. My favorite characters were the cute Job and Sarah, though Job was annoying at sometimes i thought they were wonderful. Then there was Rachel, it assume she was in charge of the ceremonies, she was real creepy. Then there was the leader Isaac, his facial expressions and raspy voice fit the character of Isaac Chroner perfect. Then there was Malachi, it seemed like he was in charge, but he obeyed Isaac's word even though he was clearly two feet taller than him. I give "Children of the Corn" 9.5/10 stars on the Jeff Scale. Thank you for calling!
The Faculty (1998)
loved it!
This is a great movie. It's a simple plot of aliens invading a small Ohio town called Herrington and plans to take over the world. But these group of kids are somewhat "chosen" to stay human, even though they are probably the only ones in the entire town. You have the basic jock Stan(Shawn Hatosy), the head cheerleader Delilah(Jordana Brewster), the school geek Casey(Elijah Wood), the weirdo Stokely, i actually think thats a cool name, (Clea DuVall), the school druggie Zeke(Josh Hartnett), and the new girl Marybeth(I forgot her name), also a special appearance by Usher Raymond as the new captain of the football team Gabe. Anyways, they find out that the aliens are nothing but little squid looking things that can only live on water, since humans bodies mainly consist of H20 i guess they decided Earthlings, anything else destroys them. Also, a drug that Zeke has called "scat" not really coke but something that makes you messed up, it consists of caffeine pills and smothered household pills stuff. It's a Friday night and the only big thing in the small town of Herrington is the football games of the Herrington Hornets, the whole town goes to all the home games. In theory, Stokely says that all the aliens are the same, they're connected in some way and if you kill the queen alien everyone else returns to normal. So, they figure that the principal is, the very sexy Bebe Neuwirth, grrr! But they were wrong, so now there are only 2 of the 6 are left, and now it's up to Casey to kill the queen. It totally suprised me who the queen was, i don't pay attention the first time but after a few times i start noticing the little things. Anyway, if ur in the mood for a sci-fi/horror/comedy rent The Faculty.
Any Day Now (1998)
love it!
I love this show, not just becuase I know the girl who plays Kelly Sims, I think this is one of the best shows ever. I love Annie Potts, she is great. This is a great show about friendship. I like the flashbacks when they were children. I give "Any Day Now" 10 stars!
