Miracles from Heaven (2016)
Very good movie!
I watched this movie and found it to be very interesting! The story itself is very pleasant, but the message is GREAT! It was not the miracle that occurred for Anna that impressed me. What made me think of the movie as special, is not the account of this miracle, but the faith she had herself! Because of this one little girl, she brought her father to come to know the Lord and understand that he is real! So for me it was not Anna's miracle that makes me a believer in what happend to her, but her faith that impressed me!
Heaven Is for Real (2014)
Not sure what to think
First of all, I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I am partial to children though. Whether or not I believe that Colton really went to heaven is the issue I address. One thing that impresses me is that Colten really had no reason to say the things he did, so it does cause me to believe there is a reason for this to be substantial. However, I have some difficulty believing his account, based on the information he described. First of all, the only people that received known information about the events Colten described is his parents, so we all know that we want to believe that our children are correct (at least those of us that maintain sanity). Also, looking at the goofs I saw that it was already noted that Jesus must have been of a darker skin color. The image of Jesus being white is the general depiction we are all used to, and don't want to change. My conclusion is that the story may or may not be true, however the movie is worth watching!
Father and Scout (1994)
Pretty Good.... Despite...
It is a funny thing.... I didn't want to watch this movie, because I don't really care for Bob Saget. However, I do like Brian Bonsall. So I went ahead and watched it. I found it pretty good, despite Bob Saget. In fact, I rather enjoyed Bob's acting in it. He fit the part perfect. I guess I should overlook Bob's stupid acting in America's Funniest Home Video's. So if you want to watch a pretty funny movie, with a good story line, this movie will do just fine..... :)
D.A.R.Y.L. (1985)
Great Story, Worth Watching, but....
This is a very good movie, despite the extremely bad acting! It has Barrett Oliver (Never Ending Story) and Danny Corkill (Without A Trace). In my opinion, this movie was the inspiration for Artificial Intelligence. I recommend watching this movie, because of the extremely great story. Just overlook the bad acting (it's not hard to do).
The movie is about a robot in a boy's body. He is misunderstood by his creators, who believe him just to be a mechanical being, not capable of the will to live, to have the ability to love, or feelings and emotions. But, he does have all these traits, and you will come to care about him. (now doesn't that sound like A.I. to you?)
SPOILER ALERT:
What makes this movie's peak of emotions is the ending, where the song 'Somewhere I Belong' by Teddy Pendergrass is played. Give it a chance, you won't regret it!
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Very long, but worth the watching!
I have not read all the reviews, so I am not sure if anyone else has mentioned that this movie is very much like the movie D.A.R.Y.L. (an older movie about a robot boy). If you ask me, Stanly was inspired by D.A.R.Y.L, and decided that the story was so good that it had to be re-made better! Good job Stanly, and thanks Steven for finishing this work of art, at the request of Stanly's wife, after Stanly death. Stanly wanted a real robot to play the part of David (as Steven explains in the extras included with the DVD release), but it was just too much to ask for. Haley Joel Osment is the best boy actor, to play the part of David, as Steven makes very clear. At times this movie can be quite boring, but it is well worth the wait, as it has a great ending (said to be one of the most depressing).
The Angel Doll (2002)
Great movie to watch at Christmas time!
SPOILER ALERT:
This is a very good movie. I think it is a true story, as at the end of the movie, details are given as to how events played out in the future, or for that matter, still are playing out. I am very fond of Cody Newton (The Last Brick Maker In America). Also, I am a supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is the striving point of this movie! If you enjoy good Christmas movies, true to life (may be true), then give this little gem a chance (and give St. Jude a thought also, as it is a great cause to give to)!
Room (2015)
Among one of the BEST movies I have ever seen!
I put this movie right up there with ET, The Sixth Sense, Song Of The South, etc... A must see for anyone who enjoys well a well thought out story, excellent acting (especially that of child actor Jacob Tremblay). What a great acting job young Jacob did. What great, well thought out, extremely realistic acting! SPOILER POINT:
There is a point in the movie when the boy says "I hate you!" to his mother, and it is exactly the way a child would act in his/her situation! If you enjoy a great drama and suspense, then here is the movie for you! Sorry to all those who are looking for blood & guts... Not this movie! This movie does not need gore to impress anyone! A must see, believe me!
Always Will (2006)
Family Friendly, Clean & Enjoyable
I started to watch this movie, then decided to view the rating. I am glad I didn't read the rating before I started to watch it, as I might not have watched this good movie! I found many flaws, but I will not disclose them, so I don't give you any spoilers. No sex or profanity, so if you are looking for a movie of that sort, you won't find it here. However, if you want to see a very good movie (almost make you cry), then here is the one!
Spooky House (2001)
Adorable children's (family) movie!
I was skeptical about watching this movie, as although I really enjoy children's movies, this one LOOKED like it might be a bit too childish. But to my surprise, there is quite a story to it, for the young and old! Matt Weinberg is one of the most charming little actors I have ever seen! The movie, of course, consists of many magic tricks, which makes it very pleasant to watch. There is also familiar music, that is so entertaining! Give it chance, especially if you have to entertain the wee little ones :)
Changeling (2008)
A movie that may make you cry
This movie had me in tears, as it is a true story, about sad events. You would never believe that such an incident could take place, but it did take place. The movie starts out with a missing child and continues on to be about the corruption of the police department, who caused the actions of a serial killer to go unnoticed! Don't think my last statement is such a great spoiler, as the movie reveals so very much more. It delivers such a great detail about these true events, that even if you knew the ending, you would enjoy watching it! (EXTREME SPOILER POINT!)
A boy was forced to help a man capture & kill young boys. I could not help but feel compassion for the boy, as he did what he had to do to live. I was very dissatisfied that the boy was held accountable for his actions! Watch the movie and see if you feel the same way I did. A must see movie!!
Mitt liv som hund (1985)
A great coming of age movie
I first started to watch this movie with my little nephew (thinking because of the title, it was a child's movie). But then the scene took place with the soda bottle, and I quickly turned it off (not to allow my nephew to see it). Later I watched it by myself and loved it greatly! The first time I watched it, it was dubbed, and not as compelling to me as the subtitled version (just watched it).
Throughout the movie, Ingemar, the little boy in the movie, compares the tragic circumstances in his own life to that of other peoples (and a dog), who have much more tragic circumstances, so not to be so sad about his own. This is especially compelling to me, as I do the same thing also!
The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry (2008)
A remarkable story (great movie to watch)!
This is a truly remarkable story! I highly recommend it to people who enjoy family movies. If you want to see a great Christian movie, see this! While I was watching the movie, I thought to myself, "Nice, but not real." SPOILER POINT --> It is not until the end of the movie you find out that it is a TRUE STORY! Look up 'Jonathan Sperry' as I did, & see more about him.
Martian Child (2007)
What I like the most about Martian Child
I really do not believe that what I will say here will spoil the ending of the movie, but some sensitive viewers may feel otherwise, so I listed that it may.
Two things I like about the movie are 2 songs and 2 quotes that REALLY make it worth while to me!
The Songs are "Mr Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchastra. The other is "Satalite" by Guster
The Two quotes are:
David: I get all the arguments against it. I even get the one that says "I don't know if I want to bring another kid into this world". But how do you argue with the logic of loving one that's already here.
Dennis: I started doing science and I realized we were spinning around the sun at 67,000 miles an hour, held in place by gravity! So what the heck do I need to be from Mars for? I think it's because I didn't fit in.
If you love children, you will enjoy this movie!
August Rush (2007)
Great modern day re-make of "Oliver Twist"!
I loved this movie! It was like watching my own life as a boy and as I still am, with imagination and the integrity to stand up for what you believe in and not let anyone take you down!
A boy is separated from his family believing that some one cares about him and there are people trying to track him down, both the good ones and the bad!
About the movie: Very fun and entertaining! Mild, VERY mild! content that might offend some people, but based upon what I see in most movies these days if a movie could even be rated as "G", this one should!
Please remember that August says that he can hear the MUSIC which is every sound that he hears! (everything he can understand!!) This is important to get the meaning of this movie and get the best feeling out of the climax!!!!
The Last Sin Eater (2007)
I consider this a Christian movie.
First of all, this comment does contain spoilers, but secondly and most important it also contains Christian views, as I consider this a Christian movie.
I applaud "Michael Landon Jr." and "Henry Thomas" for being the replacement for my last admirations "Ron Howard" and "Tom Hanks". I lost favor for Ron & Tom after they insulted our Lord in that totally mendacious movie ('DisMeStupid Code' <-my opinionated name for it)!
Yes, The Last Sin Eater is weird, but it does NOT demean God or try to down play the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us! In fact you will find that it praises Christ Our Lord! I only wish that it said right out (like explained in the movie "Last Flight Out") that you obtain salvation by admitting to God that you are a sinner, that you know that Jesus Christ is way to peace and asking for Jesus to forgive your sins.
I have not said much about the story line of this movie. Please get it from the other comments and the summary of the movie. I just wanted to express my appreciation for the movie.
Thanks also of course to Francine Rivers' who wrote the novel!
Jesus Camp (2006)
An excellent documentary about raising Christian children!
This movie style documentary demonstrates the differance in opinion when it comes to raising children as Christians. It is NOT Evolution verses Creation, but more on liberal verses fundamental! I believe it is a very good argument! I find it hard to pick sides when watching this movie.
It's focus is on "Mike Papontonio" a talk show host and "Becky Fisher" a Children's minister. Mike accuses people like Becky of brainwashing children and Becky contends that she is nurturing children to be what God expected of them.
The children that are the mail focus are by first name only "Levi" age 12 and "Rachael" age 9. At first there is an introduction of the children and we are taken to "Kids On Fire" summer camp in North Dakota.
Closeing the movie is Becky's call to Mike on the air. Then they have a rational conversation but do not agree. I will not say my opinion about any of the content or the opinions expressed. I just say this: Love it, hate it, have no opinion (your choice, but) "WATCH IT!".
The Squid and the Whale (2005)
A real look at the destruction of family life
I had to watch this movie twice before I could be certain of my opinion of it. Part of me wants strike it down because of the foul language and sexual content, but the other part of me respects the truth that is presented here.
I believe that this movie offers no harm to society, because it does not promote what is expressed! In fact, I think that this might be a good learning tool.
(Mature audience only (people over the age of 18 that act normal and those under the age of 7 who exhibit more maturity than an adult.))
This film shows how parents who are separating can hurt their children by expressing their opinion of one another to them. It also shows a grim truth of how it can hurt their emotional and sexual life!
This is tear jerker! Hats off to Noah Baumbach! Thanks for being so honest!
I guess one of the reasons I respect this movie is because it is just plain truth!!!!!! I do not have a wife an kids, but I can see how this is "plain truth", because I know what is real.
WARNING: RELIGIOUS INFORMATION
Christian
I have not included any "spoilers" in this description, but I must warn you that I am going to include an opinion that might offend many!
The ONLY mention of GOD is using His name in vain! Notice that there are no Christian Values! Try it PLEASE!

Street Corner Kids (1994)
Is only as good as what you can expect......
One look at the cover tells you all you need to know about this movie. It is not bad, in it's interesting. Personally I like low budget movies, because I get more out of the story than the acting, and believe me, the acting in this movie is NOT first class! I got a kick out of the children, because of the fact that they are not professionals.
PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH IT:
I Believe the moral message this movie sends is WRONG!
These kids LIE, STEAL and are right out dis-respectful. They have no respect for authority at all and the premise is that it is OK to be that way!
I kind of liked the movie, but I question the family values....
Robby (1968)
Nice Idea that did not work......
This movie is an obvious attempt to get children to understand that nudity is an acceptable form of dress (or that it is OK to be naked). In the later 1990's and beginning 2000's, this is NOT an acceptable lesson for children (in fact it never really was acceptable and should never be!).
I enjoyed this movie, but I observed a comment by another that indicates that this movie was made for people who desire to see young boys for sexual entertainment. I am sure that there are many that watch this movie for that reason, however, I do not believe that was the intent!
I am going to exclude this movie from my library only because I do not want people to question my motive for having it. I believe that it is a good movie!
Edges of the Lord (2001)
Worth waiting for!
For several years I have desired to at least SEE this movie! I am so happy to not only have seen the movie, but I now OWN it! This movie has never been theatrically released in the U.S., in fact, I don't believe that any DVD / VHS of it has been released here. I understand that the reason is because it was not "timely" when the shooting was complete. What reason?, why?, & what was Hollywood thinking?!
Now this movie is being imported into the U.S. from many other countries by people who desire to watch it! People like me, who are willing to pay to see such a GREAT MOVIE!
It is not a well known movie yet! So Hollywood still has a chance. But will they? What I mean is, will Hollywood bring this movie to the big screen, or at least to VHS / DVD here in America?!
Oh!, I almost forgot! My review and comments....
Yes! This is a GREAT movie! It is a tear jerker though. It is not one I would say young children would enjoy! As far as I know it is not a true story, but it sure is good!
SPOILERS:
The ending is quite nice, however, what happens before the ending might leave you feeling a bit more sad than happy for the ending itself! In my opinion, this is not bad! It makes us aware! Watch and see for yourself!
Thanks....
Sean
A Step Toward Tomorrow (1996)
I LOVE this movie!
To tell you the truth, I have never seen the beginning of this movie. I caught it at the ending a while back and loved it. Then the other day I saw it (or rather just the ending) again. It was not listed in the television guide because it was aired as a tribute to Christopher Reeve, who died the day before, as he has a part in it. None the less, what I have seen is wonderful!
It is so heart warming. It makes you ball up in tears, and that is good for the eyes, the heart and soul of mankind!
This movie has got to be put on VHS or DVD! If not for the quality of heart touching movie that it is, then the other excuse might be because the tribute to Christopher Reeve.
Pure Country (1992)
Almost a great movie!
I really enjoy this movie. I have watched it 2 or 3 times, however, the last time, I just shut if off after 20 minutes. I will explain why but I must warn you that my comments will spoil the conclusion for you (stop reading after the "SP" (for SPoiler).
Very nice beginning! A young boy introduces the feature with a cracking voice and then follows to the man he becomes! Lights, Camera, Action! He is a popular country singer! Then, despite all his popularity and fortune, he leaves the band to find himself.......
I love this and it looks hopeful, however, my problem with this movie is the conclusion!
[SP]
The reason for Dusty's decision to leave the band is because he does not feel comfortable with the crowd, lights and special effects. However, this movie concludes with him enduring exactly that, but with a women! In my opinion, it is fine that he found a women, but it would have been much better if he did what the beginning of the picture indicated he loved to do when he was a child. That being, just to sing for the pure (country) enjoyment of singing!
Solaris (2002)
What did I watch????!!!
A hunk of junk is an under statement! What a waste of time! Why did anyone think this plot would be enjoyable? It is worse than Star Trek Deep Space Nine! Seriously, if you are given a choice between watching this movie or moving a 25 foot sand pile, one hand full at a time, TAKE THE SAND PILE!
It can't make up it's mind if it is in space or on earth. Moves back and forth, and without understanding! It acts like it knows what it is doing, but in fact, it comes over as a bunch of hog wash created by people with more money than they know what to do with for people who want to believe they have an understanding about something that is complete stupidity!
Good Boy! (2003)
Ok as a rental, however.....
Originally I was going to watch this movie in the theater, however, due to its poor review it bombed out and was dis-continued before I had a chance to get to see it on the big screen! To tell you the truth, I am glad, because, if I had seen this in the theater I would have been upset (because it is not worth the 12+ dollars <ticket, popcorn, soda, etc....>). I did enjoy it on video! I believe it is worth 3-5 dollars to view vhs/dvd in your home. It is silly but enjoyable! Also, I loved the facial expressions that Liam Aiken makes! Also, I am very pleased about the lack of profanity! Nice to see a movie that the whole family can watch!
Spy Kids 3: Game Over (2003)
3D Special Effects... That's all!!
I don't know the way to stress how very hard it is for me to sit through a movie that has so little to it, as far as story and plot, and only has "Special Effects"! At first I tried it with the 3D effect, but it lacked color, of which I felt was more important. Then I tried watching it in 2D (normal) and it still stank!
Too many U.S. producers are way hung up on the ability to use special effects that they focus all their attention on this one thing and loose the ability to understand the concept that a movie must first have a grip to it!
This is why I like foreign movies (subtitled or not). For one thing, I know that so much effort and cost to dub and/or subtitle a movie means that it must have been a hit in the origin country! I have suggested subtitled movies to people who say "No, watching the words at the bottom of the screen keeps me from seeing the movie." I have to ask this "What is the difference between having to read the subtitles below a good movie and WATCHING a piece of crap and trying to see through the special effects???????????!"!
I give it a 3. average for special effects (only to be fare to those who like movies for this reason only). As far as story and reason go, this movie is thumbs down! I will never watch it again!
