The story was fairly good, but more melodramatic than comedic. I had hoped to see a comedy, but was disappointed in it's lack of humor. I have spent some time in Ireland and have respect for the Irish ability to poke fun at themselves. This just wasn't a good example of Irish humor. Sorry
An excellent story about some of the Vietnam war vets. These were the homeless a few decades back. The serious music was inspiring. I believe Ms. Salonga played herself. I knew that she was a singer but her piano playing showed real musical training.
I have enjoyed this movie many many times since it came out in the early 1950s. Since video tapes became available, I have purchased this one and look at it for relaxation 3 or 4 times a year. I have been a fan of Jimmy Stewart all along. The first time I witnessed "Harvey" was the stage production with Joe E Brown. I wish that had been filmed.
I rented and watched the 1996 "Harvey" with Harry Anderson but found it disappointing. Probably because I can only see Stewart as the real Harvey. For people who like "Harvey" I recommend "Being There" with Peter Sellers and "King of Hearts" with Alan Bates.
