The new Captain America simply doesn't work as a lead. Anthony Mackie may try and try but there are certain actors that work amazingly well in a supporting role - and he's one of them. There's nothing wrong with his acting, it's just that for whatever reason he can't carry a whole movie by himself -as the new Captain America.
As a political thriller, the movie works better. It's entertaining and there's not much more to be said about it.
But as a Marvel movie - you really need to have done your homework to understand it. Watching Secret wars, The Marvels, Wakanda Forever, the original Hulk movie, the last two Avengers, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, She-Hulk - may help. But I did and I couldn't catch all references and stories.
So in the end it feels like a boring test you have to study for, and not an exciting new Marvel movie.

By now we all know the story of "Emilia Perez" and the reactions it gets from the mexican public.
Although nobody should expect a documental out of a movie, the lack of sensitivity, and an apparent dislike of its source material (evidenced by the director's comments, for example, on the spanish language - "Spanish is a language of modest countries, of developing countries, of the poor and migrants") really sparked the ire of many in Mexico. Regardess, while some people turned to the usual (comments on social feeds - like this one!), Director Camila Aurora took matters into her own hands and created a silly, highly enjoyable, and extremely sharp witted response to the director.
This should NOT be taken as an insult to the french people (like Emilia Perez was to mexican people), but a poke to the ribs on Jacques Audiard's lack of empathy and sensitivity.
As such, I refer to Voltaire's (hey, look, more french people!) for the ultimate review of this movie.
"I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: 'O Lord make my enemies ridiculous.' And God granted it."

...but with even less charisma and spark. It's just a movie that was made, I guess, to spend some government money or to declare as a tax loss.
It's the typical story that has been made countless times. People who dislike each other switch bodies, live their lives, learn their lessons, etc. Why is it that nobody seems to have any original ideas anymore is absolutely beyond me. Acting is atrocious, editing and sound mix are beyond abismal and characters seem to be there just in order to grab their paychecks and leave. Positive opinions here have to come from friends or family of the actors, otherwise, they wouldn't exist. Simply atrocious.
