RocknRolla (2008)
Bad rehash of Lock Stock.
Seeing the fact that this movie is by Guy Ritchie (always an entertainer) and has received largely positive response from others, I would say I am very disappointed. This movie is nothing but a cheap rehash of the brilliant Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Right down to the idea of a novelty item being much sought after and exchanging hands in the most strange circumstances. The characters are rather poorly drawn and the gay angle just doesn't fit in anyplace. Gerard Butler is grossly underused.
The film does pick itself up late in the second half, and the twists at the end give the film some credibility despite its first failings.
Phantom 2040 (1994)
Excellent
I saw this series when it was telecast on the Indian National television channel "Doordarshan" in 1997. To me, it ranks as one of the best cartoon adaptations (that too, futuristic) to date. However, the channel discontinued the series sometime in 1999. After that, even I was unable to catch the series (if at all telecast). So I'm still left with that incomplete feeling.
Since IMDb forces one to write too many lines, I'm repeating the above text in its entirety. Sorry. The Truman Show (1998)
Beautiful
Fantastic movie, great acting by Jim. The storyline lacked depth, but he made up for it with fantastic natural acting. No loudmouthed comedy this. Simply great. A must see for all.
The Ghost and the Darkness (1996)
One of the best movies to have ever been made!
Well, the movie was all the more exciting because of the fact that the story is true. It led me to visit the site of the Field Museum of Chicago. The actual pictures taken more than a century ago were nothing short of fascinating. A definite watch for one and all.
