Donald Pleasance is not in this but he will never be forgotten in his role as the great crusader against the evil Michael Myers and his other great roles. He reminds me of how Peter Cushing always was up against Dracula in those great Hammer films. He is now looking down on all this and sees that movies when good are about he best thing on this planet. And though his last role was in the fairly weak and gory Halloween 6 his role still had class.
Now with Donald Pleasance gone, in this 7th film Jamie Lee Curtis stands alone against the evil Michael Myers. I only saw the last half of this film today with commercials but it was riveting. The scene by the gate sent chills up my spine. This film is not about the why/ This film is not about gore; it is about confrontation and is one of the best Halloweens. It could easily be considered a resolution to the series in some ways but I see they have made another. This film is recommended.

I wanted it to be good. I would say 1, 2, 4 and H20 were the best. 5 was tolerable. Donald Pleasance of course was as much a part of those films as Christopher Lee in Hammer's Dracula. This one is the 6th in the series.
Unfortunately this one dwells on gore and blood and is pretty mean. There is a lot of scene jumping and quick editing. It is more about how he kills and a lot of blood spattering and this seems like a cheap creepy film. It still maintains a little of the Halloween feel and I believe most fans really wanted to like it.
Of course, the only reason to see it is to be part of the Halloween legacy and to see Donald Pleasance last performance though his part isn't nearly as involved as before. Oh we will miss him. The next film Halloween H20 is much better made and too bad Donald wasn't there for that climatic battle in H20.

Super cast is tops. Astaire is a legend. We are watching the tape of Holiday Inn. Then we will see White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life tomorrow at a special showing. Also to clear confusion over the Jolson make up, this was actually considered a complement to African Americans at the time and was considered progressive. Just as Amos and Andy was really no different than 3 stooges. This was innocent unlike the hate filled manipulation of a Spike Lee today. this film is talent
