Creepshow is a unique horror film that any 1950's pulp comic book fan would appreciate. Told as 5 separate tales, Creepshow uses the comic book as a platform from which to tell the tales.
The acting is not going to win any awards, but some of the "stars" to appear (ie Stephen King, Leslie Neilsen and Ed Harris) are rather interesting.
In the same way Indiana Jones has a kind of fairy tale, adventure series feel to it, so will Creepshow take you through some bizzare situations and leave you with the typical punch or twist endings that horror comics of old were noted for.
Good rent, you can watch a few pieces at a time and come back to it later. Fun movie to watch with friends.

Seeing this film immediately brought back the feelings I had when I first saw Braveheart. On further examination I found this story much more compelling and complex. The gore content is tastefully done and while brutal it serves it's purpose and is not the focus but rather the motivation for the story.
The acting is excellent, Russell Crowe played the role of Gladiator with the necessary reserve, angst and passion needed. Joaquin Phoenix as the Emperor's son was truly distasteful. I loathed his character by the end of the movie more than most characters I can call to mind. Cinematically beautiful, musically enchanting. Would love to see this on DVD, because on VHS with surround sound it was fabulous.

This movie caught my attention as a japanese version of "Office Space." It was less goofy and more intelligent than that though. It had decent acting and very probable situations. Nothing was really over the top (ie no big explosions, bloody deaths, etc). Also had a lot of really good things to make you think about life, death, money and power. It was serious without being depressing and after the final credits rolled, I was left with a good feeling inside.
