HEART EYES (2025) *** Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Jordana Brewster, Devon Sawa. If a Hallmark rom-com met SCREAM could've been the pitch for this Valentine's Day slasher flick about a serial killer who yearly dispatches couples descends upon Seattle where meet cutes Holt & Gooding come into his gaze and find themselves targeted as the next victims. Director Josh Ruben's fine blend of dippy genres tropes with the physicality and action of both and fine chemistry between its leads rises from what could've been a one-joke shrug worthy attempt. Fun casting of Brewster & Sawa as a pair of police detectives on the case adds gravitas to the proceedings. A blind-date watch for sure.

BECOMING Led Zeppelin (2025) **** Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham. Fantastic documentary on one of rock's greatest bands with exemplary archival footage, talking head segments with the group's legendary musicians and a genuine appreciation for the gifted talents on display inspiring generations of the genre. Director Bernard MacMahon balances evenly the reflections of its subjects - from their roots with American r&b to their meteoric rise - with the importance of their impact and must be seen in IMAX to feel as if you're onstage and tour with the iconic rockers. An epic origin story.
