Crazy in Alabama is directed, produced and acted with chisseled precision. A most entertaining and inspiring story, acted to perfection and distinguisly photographed. The film turns out as a most clever and innovative work of modern cinematography. A most for the serious movie goer and getting a full 10 from me.
The sound track of this movie, nearly all modern popular music, sweeps a Pre-Amazon.com book store, where we attend an eighteenth century comedy of manners. It has everything: the sad and abandoned princess, the contesa, the elder contesa, the young prince, plus two or three prospective partners, scattered about as needed, and of course, the always misplaced mystery love note. And the ending, Oh so Voltairean! Oh So Mozartean.
This movie is slow, boring and unoriginal. Given a 6 only when graded by using a curved score.

Shakespeare, the terror of High School students, turns into Shakespeare the man. Instead of the "balding bard," we meet the dashing actor with wife and mistresses. Instead of equivocating about the nebulous Dark Lady of the Sonnets, we get to meet her "in the flesh" (well, almost in the flesh.) .We hear the stage, get to visit with Queen E., have a bar-visit with Christopher Marloe, and, lots of fun with Willy Shakespeare and the boys. Not to mention hearing beautiful recitations of our beloved poetry, excellent acting, and the music! Ah the music that comes free with this beautiful play. (We even get to know Elizabezan mice! Never expected it!)
This is a fantasy in good taste and done with unusual imagination: poetic scholarship at is best.
