The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Lord of the Films
I truly thought this movie was one of the best Epic movies I have seen in a few years. What can I say about this movie! I was truly speechless with how well it turned out. Yes the story was different in parts from the book, but in a whole it followed rather well. I have read the books, and I like them, but I knew from the beginning that there would be some changes.
I thought the acting was top notch. Everyone did a fantastic job on the acting. By the end of the movie you come to love the characters and feel for the sorrows and joys. The scenery was incredible. For 3 hours you believe New Zealand becomes Middle Earth and the man-made sets were great. The pacing of the movie was perfect, a little slow at the beginning to set up the movie, but after that it has a wonderful flow to it. I feel Jackson did a wonderful job with the details. It could have been easy to let things slide but he didn't. The Soundtrack compliments the movie wonderfully. The Special effects were top notch and enhance the movie and don't overdue it. Combine the special effects with a great story and you have one of the best movies to come out in a few years.
I truly believe that the Lord of the Rings will Rule the Box Office for the next three years. I will take Elves and Orcs over Jedi and Clones any day. This is a movie that fans of the books, and newcomers will enjoy. Lord of the Rings is truly Lord of the Films for this year.

Rock Star (2001)
Stand up and Shoooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuutttttttt!!!!!!!!
I must admit I wasn't expecting much on this movie. I was surprised I truly enjoyed it as much as I did. The script wasn't oscar material, but it wasn't horrible either. The acting was great by Mark Wahlberg. Jennifer Aniston had a great supporting role, and looked lovely as ever. What made this movie for me was the music. If you do not like 80's glam metal or hair bands, then you probably wont like this movie. Its all about being a rockstar. Some cliche's were present, but didn't bring down the movie at all. I would recommend it to anyone who likes rock and roll and remember to Stand up and Shout!!! 8 of 10 for great acting and awesome music.

Gattaca (1997)
Wonderfully Crafted and Provocative movie
I was shocked over how good this movie is, and how little hype or recommendations I have gotten from friends to see it. This movie makes a person sit back and think and see if we really want Science to progress further and further for Genome sequencing, and Genetics in general.
This film was beautifully filmed with wonderful colors and settings. For taking place in the not so far future, the sets I believe where dead on. There was a sense of advancement, but at the same time rigid guidelines for society, workers, and buildings . Acting on all parts I thought was great. Jude Law and Ethan Hawke gave great performances. Uma Thurman was beautiful as ever and gave another strong performance. Little special effects which sets the movie apart from other Sci Fi movies. I can honestly say this ranks in my all time favorite Sci Fi films. The movie flows wonderful and doesn't seem to drag by at all. I highly recommend it to any Sci Fi fan. It will make you think what if.....
The Matrix (1999)
One of the best Sci-fi movies ever!! Instant classic!
The Matrix is one of the best sci-fi movies I have ever seen. This movie pulls you in and takes you for a wild ride and shocks your senses with amazing special affects and great martial art fighting scenes. The plot was right on with great acting by Reeves(neo) and Fishburne(morpheous) and the rest of the cast. This movie has raised a high standard for future sci-fi movies to come to the level of this movie and I believe very few will. The only way to find out what the Matrix is, is to go see The Matrix.

The Abyss (1989)
An incredible journey to the depths
Truly a brilliant movie. I consider this to be Cameron's best movie of all time. It picks you up and takes you for a wild ride. A must see if you have not already.
The Assignment (1997)
Move over James Bond!
I consider this movie to be the best spy thriller to date. An incredible story line with great characters. If you thought the Jackal was good with Bruce Willis then you must see this movie. This movie is probably one of the greatest sleepers yet.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
To predictable
WEll I had high hopes for this movie. But it fell way short. I was hoping it would keep me guessing, but this movie was easy to predict what was going to happen. Though I did think the acting was good by both main stars.

Le cinquième élément (1997)
Finally a decent Sci Fi movie.
Well I have seen this movie 5 times now and each time I see it the more I like it. It seems it takes a while for a good Sci Fi flick to come around, and I honestly believe that the 5th Element was a great one. I would rank it easily in my top 5. I thought the story line was good and the special effects Great. The characters were pretty well developed and the cast was perfect. Really no complaints from me on this movie. I also think that Eric Serra did a great job on the Soundtrack to the movie. I think that is what helped make this movis so good in my opinion. I gave this a movie a 10!
