Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)
Goodnight, Mr. President
4 February 2005 - Sadly CNN is reporting our friend, Ossie Davis (President John F. Kennedy), has passed in a Miami Florida hotel room at the age of 87 years. Reggie (Hospital Administrator) and I (Trailer Gal) had the pleasure of working with Mr. Davis on Bubba Ho-Tep and if there is a singular word to describe his presence.. that word would be "Class." He was strong, dignified, and sharp as a tack and no doubt in a few weeks, a certain academy will present his award - finally - only posthumously. He deserved it sooner. We will miss his presence on and off the screen... the world grieves with Ruby Dee... another class act.

Secret Window (2004)
Secret Window - NO Secret
Under the "nuthin' new under the sun" category is the latest Steven King flick, The Secret Window. It starts with the moment Johnny Depp opens the door to his lakeside cabin and the viewer is reminded of his swashbuckling in Pirates of the Caribbean. King must have bumped his wittle head in that accident - which he's NOW made into a series - because The Secret Window is an homage to every single film he's done! Not the LEAST of which is The Shining! It's the mental, frustrated, eccentric writer who goes off in a typical Nicholson-esque fashion and culminates in the infamous "REDRUM" wall scrawl. PUL-EASE! Has the King left the building? Is he out of poof or did he sub out this script?
I give this film "Two Snaps" for the acting, but, NO Twist... cuz there ain't none.
Jim, the World's Greatest (1975)
Jim's Great! Reggie's Better.
One of his earlier pieces, Don Coscarelli (of Phantasm Phame) has a knack for seeing the world through the eyes and heart of a young boy. He offers a Peter Pan-esque adventure to men from the boomers to present day, with each generation being introduced to a more innocent time.
Little known fact, Reggie Bannister (Reggie of Phantasm) appears bringing that flavorful polished character to compliment that of Angus Scrimm. It's an unverified rumored that Bannister had something to do with the soundtrack as well.
Copies are hard to find, but, if you have one. . . treat it as a treasure! Neat films like this are rare today.
