THE INVADERS IS A FAST MOVING SCI-FI THRILLER STARRING BEN CROSS AND SEAN YOUNG. BEN PLAYS RENN, A TRAVELLER FROM ANOTHER GALAXY TRYING TO FIND ANNIE (PLAYED BY SEAN) WHO IS PHYSICALLY IDEAL TO HAVE HIS CHILD. THIS CHILD, IF ALLOWED TO BE BORN AND RETURNED TO HIS PLANET, MAY BE THE ONLY CHANCE FOR HIS RACE TO SURVIVE. THE ENEMY, AN ALIEN WHO HAS DESTROYED RENN'S PEOPLE, HAS ALSO FOLLOWED RENN ACROSS THE STARS TO STOP THIS BIRTH. CROSS AGAIN SHOWS GREAT RANGE FROM COMICAL BEGINNINGS AS THE ALIEN ENTERS A LOCAL BAR AND ORDERS HIS FIRST EARTHLING COCKTAIL, TO HIS RACE WITH THE ENEMY AND THE DRAMA OF WHETHER HE CAN KEEP ANNIE AND THE CHILD SHE IS CARRYING ALIVE.
THIS IS A SEXY FILM WITH A CAST OF UNSCRUPULOUS CHARACTERS. IT DEPICTS CORRUPTION, DECEIT, AND REMORSE. YOU KNOW THE CHARACTERS ARE CRUEL WHEN THE ONE WITH THE MOST SINCERITY IS THE "HITMAN". BEN CROSS NAILS HIS ROLE AS A HITMAN, LADEN WITH GUILT OVER A HIT GONE WRONG, THROWN INTO ANOTHER HIT INVOLVING A CORRUPT BUSINESSMAN, HIS EQUALLY NASTY PARTNER AND THE WIFE WHO IS INVOLVED WITH BOTH MEN. CROSS'S PERFORMANCE SHOWS RANGE AS THE COOL CALM OF A HIRED, PROFESSIONAL KILLER, THE ORDINARY FAMILY MAN WITH ORDINARY MARITAL PROBLEMS, AND GUILT RIDDEN MURDERER AS HE DEALS WITH THE REALIZATION THAT PEOPLE ARE NASTY, AND SOMETIMES THE INNOCENT GET HURT.
THE BATTLE OF GOOD VS. EVIL RAGES ON IN NEW ORLEANS INSIDE AN OLD CHURCH. THE DEMON HAS COME TO CLAIM ANOTHER INNOCENT FOR SATAN. GREAT SPECIAL EFFECTS WITH STRONG SPIRITUAL PLOT ADD TO THIS GREAT HORROR FILM. BEN CROSS IS FEATURED AS FATHER MICHAEL, A YOUNG PRIEST BESET BY STRANGE SUPERNATURAL OCCURRENCES THAT TEST HIS SANITY. AS WELL AS THOSE THAT TRY TO TEST THE STRENGTH OF HIS VOWS. A GOOD SUPPORTING CAST AS WELL INCLUDES HAL HOLBROOK AS THE MONSIGNOR WHO MUST GUIDE HIM THROUGH HIS FINAL DESTINY, AND BATTLE THE DEMON.
