Quite possibly the best movie ever produced by a former Chief of CONTROL
16 February 1999
This western was produced by Ed Platt and was directed by Gary Nelson. It's a virtual GS reunion! You should go rent it. And if that's not enough reason to rent it, why, it stars Glenn Ford!

A Classic, Thought-Provoking Film
6 February 1999
This is a great movie. Each time I watch it, it makes me think about life. I would imagine it affects most people this way, especially young people in college, like myself. The characters are so real, and the situations are very believable. Plus, the film makes some of the best use of background music that I have ever heard. Almost every classic song chosen coincides beautifully with what is going on at that point in the film. From beginning to end, it's an excellent film.

Good Cast Wasted in Awful Movie
5 February 1999
This movie looked like a good movie to go to. It had a great cast and the story seemed intriguing. Boy was I wrong. It's essentially a one-joke movie, and the joke is stretched out to extreme proportions. Director Peter Berg tried to fashion a 'hip' black comedy for the late-90s, but film was way too black, and way too tasteless, for its own good. Sorry, Mr. Berg, but movies haven't degenerated so much that you can put just any filth you want up there. I very nearly walked out in the middle of this predictable mess of a movie, which is something I've never done. It's a definite must-miss.

A brilliant cartoon
4 December 1998
This is just a brilliant cartoon. It is a real masterpiece. The animation, the music, the lyrics (I love "Return My Love"--written by Chuck Jones and Mike Maltese, by the way)....and the voices. Mel Blanc and Arthur Q. Bryan do a wonderful job in this cartoon. It's a pity Bryan's "Smog!" was dubbed over, but, still, I think this is Bryan's crowning achievement at Warner's, and certainly one of Blanc's best jobs. This film should have won the Best Animated Short Oscar. It's criminal that it didn't. A true classic.
