The Cutting Edge (1992)
What a GREAT movie!
I LOVE this movie. I think the storyline is well-thought-out and the chemistry between Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney is so believable. D.B. Sweeney was so adorable in this. You can't help but fall for his charms! There are so many great lines. The soundtrack is also very energetic, and it's a shame that no one released it. Definitely not one to miss if you like ice skating, romance/comedy, and drama.
Legion (1998)
Rick Springfield BEST part of this movie.
I thought this would be an interesting movie, after reading the plot outline. When I saw this, the only person in the movie who kept my interest was Rick Springfield. I thought the others did try their best with the script, but it was not their faults. If only the script had been a little better, I think this movie could have been a major hit.
A Change of Place (1994)
GOOD movie!
I am a BIG Rick Springfield fan, and he was such an asset to this film. The chemistry between he and Andrea Roth (Kate "Dominique") was very believable. The movie also had a great storyline/plot. Look for this one on Showtime/The Movie Channel in repeats. Definitely worth a look!
Dead Reckoning (1990)
The role Rick Springfield was born to play
Rick Springfield's performance is the sole reason to rent/buy this video. He is incredibly gifted in his portrayal of Kyle Rath. When watching the movie, you just know from the moment Kyle Rath enters the picture that there is trouble ahead. Brilliant idea in casting Rick against type in this movie. Definitely worth watching!
The Sixth Sense (1999)
WOW!!!!
What an amazing movie!!! Every review here concerning the ending is right on target....do NOT let anyone divulge the ending ahead of time. Wonderful performances from Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment (who deserves an Oscar for this one!).
Best ending I can remember seeing since "Fallen" and "Primal Fear".
AWESOME!!!!
While You Were Sleeping (1995)
Wonderful movie/It's for EVERYONE
I totally love this movie. The chemistry between Bill Pullman (my favorite actor) and Sandra Bullock is very believable. One thing I truly loved about this movie is that every character had a funny line. It was nice seeing a movie where every character has a sense of humor. That seems to be pretty rare these days in the movies. This is my favorite Bill Pullman movie (with the next best of his being "Zero Effect"). He is so great as Jack Callaghan. Also, one of my favorite characters is Joe Jr. He is PRICELESS! (Great job, Michael Rispoli!) I could watch this movie over and over and it gets better each and every time. This is one movie you can watch in front of children without being afraid of them seeing/hearing suggestive content (maybe 2 things maximum). Great film.
2 Days in the Valley (1996)
Totally Out of Control
Two Days In The valley really nailed me to my seat,at first I only rented it to see my favorite new actress Charlize Theron(Helga). Then as the movie started and I saw Danny Aiello(Desmo)and James Spader (Lee) staking out a house I thought it had to be cops checking out drug dealers or something along that line and I was wrong. Then as the other characters appeared in the movie and the story started going in a different direction then I figured it would I was shocked by the way things came out and knew this was one of the best Dramas I've seen in years. It's a must see kinda movie and must have do to all the great and weird acting in it. out of three stars I give it ****.
At First Sight (1999)
best movie in years
At First Sight was a great movie. It touched me in so many ways, that I now have to go out and buy it. Val Kilmer was very insightful as a blind man,it was as though he was truly blind and that it didn't seem unrealistic and he's one of today's top notch actors. And Mira Sorvino she is good in all her movie roles.I mean seeing her in the role of Amy made my wife and I enjoy this movie all the better. I really felt for the couple and hoped every thing would work out for them when Val was able to see,but with all great movies everything isn't always that way.
The Thin Red Line (1998)
didn't like it
Thin Red Line had to be the worst movie of all time. I can't see how any one person could enjoy it. I thought I was watching Wild America do at least 10 animal shots that had nothing to do with this movie at all.I do agree some of the acting was decent, but there were several people that were telling different stories than what the story was about. I can't understand how this movie was ever brought to production. In my opinion it put me to sleep.
Zero Effect (1998)
Bill Pullman is the GREATEST!
I can't say enough wonderful things about this movie! I recently bought this film and have watched it at least ten times in the last month. Bill Pullman is absolutely BRILLIANT in the role of Daryl Zero. He was born to play this role. I was surprised he did not get an Oscar nomination for this role, as he was so deserving of it! My favorite line in the film is when he is talking to Ben Stiller's character, Steve Arlo, concerning the man he was hired by, Ryan O'Neal's character, Starck. Zero has been following Starck, and Zero says to Arlo, "Starck gets a massage the same time every day by the same red-haired masseuse. Men are soooo predictable." What a crack-up! Bill Pullman, you are the BEST! GOOD JOB!!!
Whatever you do, run out and rent or buy this movie! You won't be disappointed!
Hard to Hold (1984)
Not a good plot--Rick was best part of movie
I agree with another person's comments that Rick was not given much to work with. Rick is a very talented actor and this movie WASTED his talents, other than the sequences with him singing in concert. The chemistry between his character, Jamie Roberts, and social worker Diana Lawson is very lacking. She looks old enough to be his mom, even! I thought the band didn't even need parts in the script. They were used as props anyway. I did like the character of Nikki, Jamie's ex-girlfriend, who tries desperately to get back together with him, but continuously gets rejected. This character could have even played a bigger role in the movie.
However, if you are a fan of Rick's (as I am), it is a must-see. The music is the best part of the show, and once again Rick triumphs in this field! The song "Love Somebody" (performed in a concert sequence at the end of the film) makes the hour and a half long movie worth renting or buying.
Xanadu (1980)
Awesome music and great dancing!
I must be in the minority of people who actually enjoyed Xanadu. I loved the music, the dancing, everything about the movie! Olivia Newton-John plays Kira, one of nine Greek goddesses called muses. Her purpose is to give some guidance and direction to overworked, underpaid painter Sonny Malone (Michael Beck). She is to bring together Sonny and millionaire builder Danny McGuire (Gene Kelly) in order to build a dance/skate place called Xanadu. The plot is not the greatest, but again, the music (done by Olivia and ELO) and dancing (including a 70 year old Gene Kelly on roller skates!) is well worth renting or buying the film.
On a side note, Gene Kelly's character's name, Danny McGuire, is the same character name he had in the movie Cover Girl.
