Never in my life have I seen an audience so involved in a movie then when I went to see Bigger, Longer and Uncut. The crowd was roaring with laughter almost the entire film. For the most part I would say this movie can only be thoroughly enjoyed by regular Southpark fans. Old and religious people should certainly stay away. Throughout the length of the film, the f-word must have been said in excess of 1000 times.
As Bud Cort's first attempt at direction, Ted and Venus is able to retain a certain degree of charm but in many respects falls short of a "good" movie. Although the basic idea of the film is intriguing, the plot is both weak and uninteresting. Bud Cort delivers a well-mediated and convincing performance, but fails to instill whatever formula is needed for a thoroughly entertaining movie. Except for the most die-hard Bud Cort/Harold and Maude fans, this movie should definitely be avoided at all costs.
This is easily the movie I have seen more times than any other film. A wonderful source of laughter, nostalgia and warm feeling, Weird Science sticks out among many of the 1980's teenage angst movies as it tells an amusingly funny story while at the same time retaining a sense of deep seated humanity. At first glance Weird Science might seem like just another "coming-of-age" movie, but many would agree that between the one-liners and bathroom humor one can find a stunning degree of thought.
