The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
I loved it!
I wasn't so keen on the first film but i loved this one. I thought the battle scenes where great, especially the tree people (don't know their proper name) they kicked so much ass. I felt the first film was boring at times but this film was great from start to finish. I loved it when the dwarf was making jokes about running. Only thing i did not like in this film was some of the scenes with frodo and sam i felt they got a bit tiresome.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Indiana Jones is the best film in the world!
I can not think of any film that has captivated me as much as Raiders of the Lost Ark. This film is perfect. First of all i want to sat that Harrison Ford deserved an oscar nomination for his performance in this film. He is just great. He is much more than just a standard action hero, we see both the good and bad aspects of the character. I also love the way he portrays humour, like when he shots the swords man. I can not imagine anyone else in this role and think that had Tom Selleck got the role the film would not have been as successful. Denholm Elliot is great as Indiana's most trusted friend, as is Karen Allen as his love interest. The bad guys are also good. I like it that the main the main bad guy (played by Paul Freeman) is in many ways similar to Indiana Jones. This gives the film something more than most action films where there is a clear distinction between the bad and good guys, in Raiders there is not. I can't think of the words to sum up Spielberg's direction, he is simply perfect. This is by far his best movie. I like almost all of his films, but this is his shinning moment. In closing this is the best film ever watch it when your young and it will change your life, i don't know anyone who isn't an Indiana Jones fan. I hope they make a 4th film!
Frantic (1988)
Wonderful
I had seen this film a number of times when i was younger but apon watching it again last night with a few more years behind me i enjoyed it a lot more. Harrison Ford is my favorite actor and i think he is great to watch. I think he could make any film good because he just has something about him. I can not believe that he has not won an oscar and only been nominated once. The only bad point about this film is that it is not totally believealbe. but hey its a movie it doesn't have to be. Hugely under-rated film!!!
Mr. Nanny (1993)
Whats wrong with films like this?
It angers me when films like this get such low ratings. I mean if your expecting an oscar winning film with hulk hogan the you can get to mars. This film is enjoyable to watch when your young and quite fun to watch when your a teenager as well as it brings back childhood memories. I was looking at the ratings for another childhood favourite - "ghost dad". i mean why can't people just enjoy the film and if you don't like it then quite simply change the channel!! Its not that hard a thing to do. Hulk Hogan is a funny guy to watch as a wrestler and as an actor and i think it is unfair that films with him in it are rated so low cos a lot of people enjoy his work. So every smart ass reviewer can just take him in the right context or not watch anything by him if they expect him to actto an oscar winning standard. Anyway i've had my little rant, i love films like this!
Mother, Jugs & Speed (1976)
I liked it
i thought this film was very good to watch, i caught it late one night on bbc 1 and i was very pleased to have seen it. i thought bill cosby was great as mother, he seamed to have a darker side to him which i thought was really good. I think the film boasted a wonderful supporting cast. Good movie i'd give it 8 out of 10.
Summerslam (1996)
Best event ever
I have been a keen WWF fan for a long time now and i have seen many paper views and i can not think of an event that was better than this one. I loved the Owen Hart cast gimic, he was so funny in this match. The tag team contest wasn't great, at the time I really waned to the smoking guns to loose their tag titles because I felt that other teams would of been better with the gold. The Mero and Goldust fued was great and the match was brilliant as well. Sid v Bulldog was nothing fancy but a solid match, I thought Sid was great at the start of the match when he was warming up the crowd.
The boiler room brawl was brilliant! I was really shocked when paul bearer turned on taker I usually see face turns happening a mile off, but this time I was stunned. The split up of taker and paul bearer streched the becoming tiresome feud between Mankind and The Undertaker and made wrestling much more fun to watch. I thought it was amazing when Foley flew onto the floor from the ring apron.
The title match was one of Shawn Michaels best matches. He hit his high flying moves perfectly and put down Vader with a different move which was refreshing to see. I thought Vader and Michaels both did a great job.
So any fan should go watch this paper view because its just great!
Toransufômâ: Kârobotto (2000)
Arghh its just awful
What have they done to my beloved transfomers? Dear god what where they thinking? I saw an episode of this show the other night and was almost sick.
WHEN did was Megatron a ducking 2 headed dragon!!!! WHO the hell is Sideburn????? What was the point in keeping some of the original characters and making some new ones. The stupid shark person was just gut wrenching. It was just stupid and shouldn't be shown, why can't the old episodes be re-run.
From true transformers fan! (not transfan!)
Lee Evans: So What Now? (2001)
I seriously hated this series
I do not know why i brought myself to watching as many episodes as i did because i found this series to be one of the worst i have ever seen. Lee Evans is awful! The way he tries to be a modern Frank Spencer is cringing to watch. The rest of the cast are equally awful especially the crazy woman, who is not funny. What really bugged me about this program was the way Lee Evans forced himself into "funny" shapes. I recall one episode when he is doing something like changing a light bulb and then after slipping he is somehow upside down after great effort by the actor to get into that position. You want silly humour that works watch Some Mothers do ave them, do not bother with this it really isn't worth the time.
Galaxy Quest (1999)
Dam this film is great
I just love this film. I think it is perfectly casted and has wonderful effects. It is also really funny, much funnier than a lot of modern comdeys. It is good to see one that doesn't focus on people doing stupid things, like in most modern comedies, like road trip and amercan pie. This is a good thing to see because comdies such as road trip are not suitable for younger viewers when this film is far more suitable and in my opinion funnier. Tim Allen is great in his role as is Alan Rickman. I think you have to see this film as it it is very funny. 10 out of 10
King Solomon's Mines (1985)
Not too bad
Ok i shall start by saying i am a huge Indiana Jones fan and when i saw this recently i thought it was a ghastly copy, but i think as the film progresses it gets better and some of the scenes late in the movie are very impressive - particurly when john rhys-davies forces the german guy to eat the diamonds. I liked most of the scenes with john ryhs-davies in but i was slightly disappointed to see him in rip-off of Indiana Jones as he was in Raiders of the Lost Ark. So overall this film isn't that bad to watch, its quite fun really but it is nothing compared to the mighty Indiana Jones.
WrestleMania X8 (2002)
Hmmmmm its ok
It's ok but as another guy's review said it is just to average for a wrestlemania. The only violent match was undertaker v flair which was good but wmania needs something more. I was sad not to see the wwf use athletes like Christain, Edge and Angle in more innovative matches, all these guys have proved that they can entertain in high risk matchs and it was a shame not to see them show case their talent. I was only excited by two matches on the card; Undertake v Flair and Hogan v The Rock. I was hyped by the flair/taker match only at the end when arn anderson got involved and i thought for a moment that taker might of lost, so hats off to the wwf that match was good. Hogan v The Rock, for me, was amazing, i love hogan and i was really wanting him to win. I think it was the right move to make The Rock won because he is a better athlete, but Hogan had a great performance and really he made this wmania worth watching. The wwf really needs to do better than this in future, the main event was just plain bad.
Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
Sucks, big time!
Hey movie fans, this film is just awful. There is barely a story line to follow, the movie just tries to focus on Tom Green doing stupid things. I thought some parts were funny, like when he has the suit on backward, the cartoon, the boy who gets hit by stuff and the woman in the wheel chair. But most of the other things that he does are just sick or not funny. Rip Torn is crap in this as well. Maybe some people will like it, well some of my friends did, but to any serious movie fan just don't waste your time, go watch dumb and dumber instead because that is proper comedy. Tom Green is going to have to work harder to claim the top spot comidien position. He just doesn't measure up to the likes of Carry, Sandler or the late John Candy. Comedy films in my opinion are becoming to focused on grossing people out instead of being funny. Well i've rattled on enough DON'T WATCH!!
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
Really good
I liked this film mainly because of the scene when lord locksley goes out of his castle and fights all the other guys, this scene is just class and makes me love the film. I also thought that Alan Rickman was really good in it. I had no idea what Morgan Freeman was doing in it, but he pulled off a good preformance so i wont ask questions. As for Costner i think he was good enough for the role. Overall 9 out of 10
The Quick and the Dead (1995)
I love this film
I am not a fan of westerns, they just make me think of clint eastwood saying cheesy one-liners. I haven't seen many other westerns to compare this film to, but i loved this film and would consider it the best western i know of. Its just non stop fun and has a first rate cast. The role of Herod is played especially well by gene hackman. I would highly recommend this film to anyone. 9 out of 10. One fault i thought was when Herod got shot and spun in the air, i didn't think that was necessary.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Has to be seen
Overall i really liked the film, but a quite a few scenes made me angry, especially the whole one in the robot assembly factory, WHEN THE HELL HAS R2-D2 EVER FLOWN BEFORE?? and when C3PO fell it looked stupid, as we have never seen him move in the way we saw him do so. I was also shocked behond belief with Lucas including a scene with yoda fighting. I mean i love star wars but i think that this new film and the first film are not doing the overall story credit. I for one preferred the muppit yoda cos frankly i think the computer generated one sucks. I was very pleased to see Christopher Lee in this film as i think he is a wonderful actor and i hope he is also in the 3rd film, i also was impressed with a certain scottish actor who redeems himself after a disappointing first outing as the jedi master. I thought the younger members of the cast also did well, though i found the love scenes a bit poor. Everyone should go see this film because it is good but its no where near as good as any of the originals. I think Lucas has focussed too much on using fancy special effects to wow audiences, rather than wow an audience with a good story like he did before...
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Hard to say
My initial reaction to hearing that a new star wars film was anger, because i felt that it would ruin the legacy. After my first viewing i thought it was guff, i thought george lucas was mad for casting ewan mcgregor as obi-one and i left the cinema an angry man. But i decided i owed it to my inner child to go watch the film again and focus on the good points. So i watched again and found it more enjoyable, its a pretty darn good film if you just ignore the stupid little boy and that jar jar binks, as for ewan; hes not so bad it was a hard role to pull off and he does an ok job, everyone expected too much of him. The things i found really good in this film were the amazing special effects, liam neeson's performance and darth maul (my god he is cool). So i would say that it is worth watching for anybody because it is a good film, but don't try and compare it to the originals because it is just far too different (well obviously apart from the over all story line). 8/10
Follow That Bird (1985)
Scared the hell out of me
I loved sesame street and this film to a certain extent. But the birds who take Big Bird scared the hell out of me and i think a lot of people so what i'm really saying is that i don't think this film is suitable for young children, maybe i just got scared easily but i'm just warning anyone out there to view with caution. I loved john candy in it!! 6/10
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1992)
dam good game
I really like this game. I havent completed it cos i lost it but from my memory i know how great it was and it will get almost any person hooked. It really is a clever game, one fault i have in it is that some puzzles can be frustrating and when you are in a fist fight you can always win by pressing a button. But this does not show up in the over all gaming expeirence. Its a dam good game and its one of the many classics that "new age" gamers should play.
Starship Troopers (1997)
Really enjoyable film
I found this film highly enjoyable. I didn't know whether to treat it as a very serious sci-fi film or as a light hearted film. I choose neither and just watched for what it is, a great display of young acting and brilliant special affects. It is a great film and reminds me a lot of Total Recall, these 2 films in my opinion are the way most sci-fi films should be, violent, fast paced and highly enjoyable.
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984)
Hmmmmmmm its ok
I dont really rate this as one of the best star trek films but i just wanted to say that i think Christopher Loyd is the best klingon bad guy ever. I think the klingons are the best badies ever made and that in this film we really get a good look at them an Loyd in particular does a great job at introducing them. I mean his voice is so perfect for the klingon language and he totally looked the part.
Apart from that i don't really think this film is very good, worth watching but not a classic.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)
So much better than Scream
I saw this film expecting it to be a crappy copy of Scream. I was pleasantly suprised to find out that it was far better. The cast was great I can not think of a better youth cast, it puts Screams Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell to shame. I don't find it scary but that does not make me think any less of the film because i realy enjoyed watching it. I think that Buffy was great in it and i was sad when she died because it ruled out the chance of her being in a sequel. This is a class film!
Apollo 13 (1995)
Great film
I don't have much to say about this film except that i enjoy it from start to finish. I think it has a wonderful cast and they all perform brilliantly. 9/10 Classic
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Best star trek film
Ok so watching star trek isn't the coolest thing to do to most people, but i would recomend this film to any fan of sci-fi or action films. I have seen all the star trek films and have been well entertained in them all, but this film keeps me on the edge of me seat. Shatner is brilliant (makes a change), say what you want about him but this performance of James T Kirk is almost faultless. I like all the characters and think that the evil khan is played very well. The special affects are very eye pleasing to.
Good film Go watch
Fortress 2 (2000)
What a load of crud
I can remember watching the first fortress film and highly enjoying it. This was a film that should not have had a sequel made to it. I mean the film would have been remembered as quite a good sci-fi film but after this terrible sequel they will both leave a bitter taste. I mean this film is unrealistic, i mean it is supposed to be such a high tec prison so one wouls think that escape was impossible, not with Christopher Lambert. I can't remember all the absolute crap that happened, i can just remember being mindlessly bored and outraged at the scene when he jumps through space, that one part was just so bad that it would ruin any film. I realy enjoyed the first film as the characters were interesting and the way they escaped was clever and fairly realistic but this seqel is quite simply bad.
DO NOT WATCH!!!
The Three Musketeers (1973)
A wonderful film
I remember watching this film when i was younger and thinking that it was ok, but on watching it some 7 years later i have decided it is one of my favorite films. The fight scenes aren't the greatest in history but that is about the only bad mark i can make against the film. The cast is superb, the musketeers could not be cast any better. Oliver Reed is magnificent as the leader of the fearless Musketeers, Richard Chamberlain is also great in his role as is Frank Finly. I used to find Michael York annoying when i was younger, i thought he looked weird and sounded funny, but on re-watching it i would say he was perfect for the part of D'artanon (can't spell the name). Charlton Heston makes a classic bad guy as does Faye Dunway as Mlady (once again i apoligise for my terrible spelling). Christopher Lee shows a good performance as well. This is by far the best of the 3 films in this trilogy and by far the best Musketeer film ever. I would urge anyone, any age, any taste in films, to watch this film because a James Wilson recomendation is equivelent to an oscar, cept my reviews are not rigged. Joking aside this is a great film that shows many actors at there best and i realy think that more people should recognize it as a classic. 9/10
