I knew that Faten Hamamah, the Egyptian superstar, played a role once in am MGM movie. But it didn't know it was Cairo until I had seen the movie.
Faten Hamamah has been the biggest female superstar in Egyptian cinema since the 50s but unlike Omar Sharif, her ex-husband who became a Hollywood superstar after he got an excellent chance to show his abilities in Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago though he was not the best Arab actor at that time; unfortunately this movie did not give her a fare chance to be an international superstar.
Anyhow, still many Arabs, including myself, want to hear and see Faten Hamamah (and some other Egyptian stars at that time) speaks English!

Grendizer appeared for the first time in Arab World at the 80's as a complete two-season Arabic dubbed show. It gained a huge popularity among the Arab children in the 80s, especially because dubbed cartoons are very rare at that time. Grendizer popularity in Arab World even very much exceeded Mazinger's; especially in Saudi Arabia where Mazinger has never been shown on TV.
The show is still being aired occasionally on both Space Toon and ART Teens (free-to-air Arabic satellite channels) which can be received in Middle East, parts of Africa, Europe, and Asia on the Egyptian TV satellite (Nile Sat). Also VHS tapes for the complete show (19 tapes)are being sold in Saudi Arabia.
Grendizer fans can obtain more information about the show on this website (http://www.grendizer.net).

Yes, it's not for kids. But sure it's the best animated sensual romantic comedy I have ever seen!
Though the romantic plot is developing in a quick pace, but it doesn't lose its tenderness. And yes, there are a lot of nudity scenes, but they are so smoothly integrated with the romantic comic plot without exaggeration.
The colors and picture quality in the DVD version of are amazing. You can chose between "the good and funny" English dubbing or the original Japanese voicing with the English subtitle, which I enjoyed switching to sometimes.
You can find many animated romantic comedies in Disney library to watch with your children, but if you like animation, and if you like "grown up" romantic comedies, sure this one is what you are looking for.
