Karem, la posesión (2021)
What a waste of actors
I wanted this movie to be good...
The first red flag was the entrance to "Durango" look like a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, Durango by the 80s What's already a large city... And the welcome sign looks so fake and computer made.
Also, the movements of the camera oh my God, I got so dizzy! The camera was all over the place. It seemed to me that it was handled by a toddler.
Also the scene where the girl is starting to talk to the ghost on a book was really bad. It looks like it was made with a computer obviously and the way there goes was riding was not a person from the 16 1700s Would have spoken. Almost everything about this movie was bad.
The acting, I must say it was Decent since some of the actors are respected in Mexico. I also like the effort on the fashion trying to be super retro recruiting day mid 80s.
Emilia Pérez (2024)
Amazed
What in the world did I just watch? I could not move from my sit.
I was told by a friend to watch it, I didn't know what to expect. A musical!?! Wow! I don't like musicals, I hate musical, but this movie made me dance, sing, think, cry, scream and cry much more. The plot twist kept going through the movie
Zoe Saldaña was fantastic (as per usual) The lead actress Larla Sofia Gascon OMFG she was incredible her whole person and acting was magistral!!! The whole cast! Exempt for Selena Gomez...
Selena killed it (in a negative way) her speaking Spanish is so lame and distracting, I fast forward her a couple times or mute and read her dialogue: I wish she spoke English instead.
Minus a start because of her.
Trap (2024)
Oh my... No please no
I really wanted to like it! I am a huge fan of this director, but omg omg... nepotism shining bright. I didn't find his daughters acting good at all, not even a little, and yes she is beautiful, but, no gracias.
The story is entertaining and I watched it and was not bored at all. But I could not find any plot twist or anything fantastic like we are used to with Mr. S.
Lead actor, so good like he always do, we missed him btw. But going back to nepotism... ahwhHwjajbdxbskisdbbxbk why!!?!!! That scene on the garage was so cringey... he could've invested more in her acting classes.
It felt to me the movie was made to promote her singing.
Caddo Lake (2024)
Absolutamente worth it!
What a fantastic movie!
It started really slow, but I really like the cast (And the producer) so I stayed watching...
Does cinematography is beautiful. Like I said, the cast is fantastic. And the story, even though it reminded me a lot of "Dark" It kept me in the edge of my sit wanting to know more. At a point it gets predictable for me. But I kept watching.
Spoilers now... OMG!!! What a crazy trip! And at the end to realized that Ellie's mom made her with her own grand son! What in the bayou business is that!
So Ana was the red hair woman's daughter. Ana gets stuck in the past and grows up to marry and make a child. Her son (Paris) grows up to make a baby with his mom's mom (his own grandma) they obviously had no idea. Then Ellie solves the misters of her dad's disappearance. And I will stop writing now. GO WATCH it!!!
El juego de las llaves (2019)
Loved 1 and 2 season
Well well well...
I truly enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. The actors were amazing! The story very well told, the whole idea of starting in the swingers world. They showed us the characters and their lifestyles, their couples dynamic and individual environments... it was sexy and entreating but also super funny.
BUT!!! Seasons three was disenchanting. We lost Surita on the second season, then Peroni on the third and also Humberto Busto disappeared on the second episode of the 3D season.... Seriously it killed it for me... I still watched the whole thing and it was meh. The direction not awesome and budget wise looks very low.
Still, go watch it. It's entertaining and funny.
MexZombies (2022)
Really funny
Well, where can I start, the zombie make up really bad. But overall, the movie was really entertaining, really funny, and I love the reference (intended or not) of Guillermo Del Toro as an Kronos.
My teen kids and I watched this movie together and we were laughing really hard, El guion bien mamon. Es un típico churrote whitexican con toque ñero pero me encantó. I'm just sick and tired of seeing Alejandro Puente Acting in teenage or very young adult characters... Who the heck is casting these movies or him he looks old and very flamboyant, nothing wrong with that but come on find him rules and movie makers, please don't use him as a teenager. He does not look young at all....
The Deliverance (2024)
I really wanted to like it
Well... I had so much hope for this movie.
It started very well, it was very interesting. Like how it was unfolding. The actors amazing, all of them. Glenn Close in those daisy dukes! Very daring.
But then it got as bad and cheesy as every other bad horror film I've seen in the last 10 years.
The end had me yawning. Very predictable and the close ups on the special effects did not help. The part were the older son gets cured/freed and he is like a crucifix, looked so beautiful, but then it got ruined by the cgi special effects of his wounds closing... It ruined for me.
It could've been so good.
Cemitério (2024)
What a waste
I have broken foot and the remote fell to the ground so I had to watch it all.
Some of the acting super bad. I couldn't make out 50 cents lines most of the time. High school plays have better actors.
The editing was the worst part. The back and forth to the memoirs was so terrible I couldn't tell on times what was going on.
The echo in the sound sounded like they used the same mics from porn movies (yes I watch porn)
I am flabbergasted of how bad this was. The only ok thing in the movie was Mel Gibson and not even him being on the movie could've make it a bit good.
I feel like I watched a low budget movie. Ewww.
Evil (2019)
Why was this cancelled!??
Seriously! Only three seasons? Why!???
I love this show! It has all the elements to entertain. The acting, the stories!
I love how is not always supernatural. I love how everything is put together. Loving all the characters and their own little stories with in the story. You even like/hate the antagonist.
I really hope they do a spin off. The older daughter being interested in becoming a nun leaves so much potential to continue...
I will miss the trio made by Kristyn, Ben and David.
And the funny older nun! Even Leland Townsend... what a brilliant actor.
I am left sad and unsatisfied but because the show is over.
Las viudas de los jueves (2023)
It was really good, but...
It could've been so much better. I hated the end? It lacked of strength.
But the show was very entertaining, the actors where so good, the dialogue was so real, the locations was super cool but I wish they've shown more of the contrast of life in Mexico.
That's said, other bad thing was some of the
Wardrobe, not realistic in how that 1% dresses Elon Mexico.
Omar Chaparro was a very pleasant surprise, he is usually doing annoying characters on tv, this one was strong and dramatic and serious acting suits him.
But oh lord the en was so meh....
Now I am off to read the book and that may change my review.
The Changeling (2023)
Unique
I really enjoyed this series, I had to re watch to understand (English second lenguaje)
The picture, 10/10
Acting 10/10
Story 9/10
I can't wait for the second season.
I just wish a bit more fluidity, takes a bit to long to develop the story, but at the same time I would take romanticism if it go faster. It's absolutely worth watching.
The story is very unique and had me hooked since minute 1. Please ignore the bad reviews. We need more stories like this, magical, urban and inclusive.
Ok I don't know what else to write but I need to meet the required characters, so here I am. 18 more to go...
Dime Cuándo Tú (2020)
Meh..
I want it to be more... it's a cute movie. The idea is super nice!
Mexico City always a jewel to watch on film.
The acting decent. But If this happened to me in real life I would be freaked out of a guy like that. I needed more substance on his character, too boring, to soft; not an awkward-cute or funny personality. I couldn't fall for him (like I do on movies with the main characters) his acting was nice, it was just the character...
Daniele's friends are the best part of the movie.
In general I think they could've done much more with the story and characters.
It's just like any other romantic not too funny story.
El Último Rey (2022)
Pablo Montero! Wow!
I have never been a fan of Pablo Montero, and I am amazed of his performance here. He sounds just like Chente!
I just finished the other show about Vicente and I was very disappointed, I thought this was going to be the same, but starting with the I intro and music, wow!
The actors are amazing and some of the best in Mexico.
I live how the production is not romancing the whole Vicente Fernandez life. It feels real.
Not a huge fan of the wardrobe and styling, but other than I am so happy how this turned out.
I don't understand why it has such a low star score here.
I absolutely recommend this for Chente's fanatics.
El Rey: Vicente Fernández (2022)
I really want to like it, BUT no
I am honestly not liking this show as much as I want it to...
The choice of casting is not all awesome. Not Camil, but the young Vicente... the actor pertaining Vicente Fernandez is so off, he did even made the effort of trying to talk like him or walk like him or "perform" like him... all these thing where Vicente's trade mark.
The styling of the show is a lame effort of showing of the 50s, 60s, 80s like really?
I wish they would've cast actors that resemble him or unless made his character more credible. The young Vicente looks more like an Agustin Lara. Too white and too thin.
Also the play back while they are singing is so not good. And the Colombian accent on some of the actresses... like it does not matter that they are Colombian, but unless do the Mexican accent!!
Sorry. Honest opinion of a regular viewer. Very disappointed.
Prey (2022)
Very very good, but...
The movie was really really good! But it would've been amazing if instead of English it was a Native American dialect.
I was in the edge of my sit the whole movie. The actors were awesome!
Madres (2021)
Why is it classified as terror!?
I am disappointed, I was looking forward to a good horror story.
But I do lo ve seeing Tenoch Huerta on screen, he is good. But the leading girl... her scream was so bad, that it ruined the rest of the movie for me. Also the rest of the actors are not amazing. Too slow for my taste.
Sicario (2015)
I lived in Juarez as a kid... and in Durango Mexico
The movie had me shaking. I've lived through cartel violence. And this movie is so dam good so on point that I was shaking.
The acting is fantastic! The photography and the scrip.
Nope (2022)
Where do I start...
As much as I wanted to like this movie, it was just a hot mess.
They put too much of the monkey story for no reason... the guy involved was not even a main character and that had nothing to do with the alien/monster. It would've been good enough to present him as a neighbor.
Then the development of the alien/monster... nope! It looked like a mix of parachute and a sea eco tic jellyfish... the best Pat of the movie was. DANIEL KALUUYA!! Oh my lord! What a beautiful stunning fine man he is! Yum!
The end.
Them (2021)
Wow!
I came across this show by accident, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised.
I was on the edge of my sit 95% of the time.
This is an amazing horror story; plus the acting, the production, the photography...
I finished the show in two days!
From (2022)
Soooo Good!!!
Fantastic, terrifying, a beautiful dark poem.
The actors, amazing!
The set! The story! I can't wait to see more, I am so hooked.
They must make a second season!!!!!!!
Visitantes (2014)
Terrible (ósea literal)
Well... not bad, but not good.
I wouldn't watch it again nor recommend it.the acting is excellent. But the story and the way it developed... aghw. I could've been awesome.
