The Deliverance (2024)
Catfished by a movie how can anyone give this more than 3 stars
Firstly never would I think I'd see Glenn Close say
"I can smell your nappy pu**y"
The movie starts off very angry and it's all just a bit much, I get that it's supposed to be the house that's doing it, but have a break for 5 minutes, please.
The first half of the movie seemed okay, leaves you guessing if it is her or not then.. then!
Out of nowhere it becomes a spoof, we found ourselves laughing the second half and cringing, what did we just watch. The scenes were just, I don't have words, the outfits aswell.
The editing was poor at two scenes that were being show to be the same time period it was raining and dark but in another it was sunny and the middle of the day.
Scenes cut together didn't make sense, really random scenes for no reason aswell and the music was poor.. the slow movie weird scene with her giving the officer her necklace looked like it was out of a game cut scene.
I feel like the director put 4 movies in one and just picked lots of different iconic scenes from other movies they liked and thought yeah that's greats.
This movies first half would of been amazing if it did turn out it was the mum all along or it was the dad who was drugging the family.
I know it's based on a true story so they followed that but I'd honestly be embarrassed if this was the movie that was shown about my experience.
The only time I'd reccomend you to watch this movie is to have a laugh and be shocked at how stupid this movie gets, if you've a good 6 hours to waste because that's how long it felt.
Overall acting. Glenn must have some debt she needs to repay and that's why she's in this movie, lead actress mum was good. My favourite actress Mo'Nique and Tasha Smith I don't know what favours they owed to this director.
Daddy Issues (2024)
Why are all the white guys stupid?
An OK comedy. Some parts are very cringe, squirm in your seat, sheild your eyes and wait for it to be over. We noticed alot of reccuring themes, Gemma will get mad at her dad, dad hears it, by end of show dad has listened. The next episode dad will now be more like that, it redeems itself at the last minute mark of the show every episode. Everything coming together a bit more after chaos.
So why are all the white guys stupid?
We noticed quickly all the white men are either horrible or stupid. Not one white man's character is nice at all. They are all failing at life. There's other men in the ahow the dad friend who's black and is super successful, runs a mental health group and the other is a pharmacist, really caring & all round been a good character on the show.
All the while women on the show are to say it in a more pleasant way promiscuous, the 2 women who aren't white... ones a bully and the other is the one apart from the dad who's had a change dynamic.
If you think I'm wrong about the characters name one white man in the ahow who's not a complete moron? And no you can use the dads boss because he was also an idiot
Most of it is infuriating and really annoying, however you do grow to care alot about Gemma, her friends and what will happen.
The Zone of Interest (2023)
Watching paint dry would of been more interesting
The idea of this movie was great, a uncomfortable side not explored much in other movies of this subject, it just didn't hit the mark for me. Found it painfully boring. Fi ding it hard not to skip forward.
I understand the look and feel they were going for but it just didn't suit the film. The film also was supposed to be about the sound and I found myself struggling to hear much of anything for the first hour almost, it didn't make me uncomfortable or thought provoking. I didn't see alot of symbolism either, I did have alot of blank screen time, long pauses and walk ways that's added nothing to this film. It felt like it was trying too hard to by a edgy, indie film in a way and it just didn't do it.
The Resort (2021)
Low budget shouldn't mean bad plot
The movie spends a good 30 minutes of a under 80 minute movie literally nothing, 5 minutes of them in a helicopter, close up of one of the girls at a water fall & walking... boring script & characters. The whole reason they go is for lexs birthday but the majority of the trip is spent messing around. Then everything happens very quickly and they must of had a deal on at the lighting store for purple and red lights... And only been able to use the set for half a day because the rest of the film is spent in 1 room in a "basement"...And the scene where her friend face is tore off is so laughable and cringy, the god awful acting. I found it so strange they spent their whole budget on a helicopter. Would of been some good scenes but a point by pure stupidity. Half way through we stuck the film out thinking the plot would be lex acrually killed her friends and made the whole story up so she could sell her new book.. instead it's a movie about a whole lot of nothing. The best scene and make up would be her female friend with the match. Also the fact you cans ee them clearly next to the resort alot in the film yet they act like they are not their yet, multiple buildings seen behind them aswell.
My Life with the Walter Boys (2023)
How have people watched this and rated it highly.
Turned this off after maybe 5 minutes. The acting is awful alot of long awkward pauses as if it's either been edited poorly or just added for dramatic effect. It's GCSE drama class at best. The music, slow motion used aswell it's all very forced and stiff. The stereotype aswell instantly. She's a straight A student who also decides to partially dress in a uniform for a flight. The slow motion used around who will be one of the main love interests was also too much. It felt like this movie was made by a young teenager who's obsessed with the sommar I turned pretty, realistically she would live with her uncle or be kept in her own city rather than traveling to small-ish ( for hoew many live there) farm house with 10+ boys. Let's also not talk about the dad who's straight away leaving to go to see trees as if its a do or die scenario & the mum who's had 8+ kids , no sign of a single stretch mark & also works in what appreas to be the medical field as a nurse.. how did she get a nursing degree while popping out 8 kids one after the other. Boring, cringe, watch the sommar I turned pretty instead.
The Call (2020)
Incase it's not clear it's set in the 80s
I think this movie tries too much, poor script, bad acting and director. Some very very overused distorted screaming. And this movie could of been cut by at least 20 minutes as some scenes were very long for no reason. Some of the ways the actors even move make you think what the hell am i watching? The soundtrack aswell is pretty overbearing and not needed in some of the scenes. It wouldn't surpise me if this was a directors first job and they really loved a nightmare on elm street as a kid. Feels like they were more concerned getting 2 big names in horror to be in the movie rather than properly making a movie. It's definitely in my top 10 worst movies of all time.
Reptile (2023)
Highly Enjoyable
I had not watched the trailer or had any information on this movie before deciding watch, so I wasn't sure what to expect and what I got was a good old murder mystery with some twists and turns throughout. It gives you alot of suspect and although it he plots been done before it felt new. I felt they could of gone a little deeper with some of the characters and at times felt a little confusing or things added for no reason. Really enjoyable cast aswell who play believable characters. Jsut wish they've of switched out some for others that are only breafly mentioned from time to time. Good watch won't be disappointed.
Profile (2018)
Couldn't miss a second
There's not many movies I can't miss a moment of but this is one of them, I've never felt so contredicted with my emotions in my life. I found myself smiling and laughing with the "romance" alot of the time forgetting what this movie is ment to be about, a good watch if you like these computer movies like searching, missing, host ect.. it's informative, shocking & sad. You feel all the emotions the main character does. The only issue I had was se awkward times where I actually thought my screen had frozen but it was just long pauses. Give this a watch if your not easily effected by movies. If you are I'd probably give it a miss or watch it with a friend.
Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
We can agree Chris was our favourite character in this comedy
Comedy movie, do not waste your money at the cinema for this, wait for it to be released at home or if it is already get it at home but only on offer. I laughed for the first half of the movie as Chris was great as a character, the make up on Dalton was just, I don't even have words. It was not scary they missed loads that could of been added for jump scares, no depth and lots of scene cut or made short that should of been longer. In all the movie felt really long for very little to happen. A few little cameos from other characters here and there but it's a flop. You do not care about these characters at all.
The Hit List (2019)
Enjoyable for us at home but it's a scam
I don't think I've ever seen anyone win over £1000 3 long rounds to maybe win 10K, I've seen more players walk away with nothing than something. Wish they changed it up a bit too so it's not the same type of rounds all the time. If your not bothered about watching them win and just want somthing on while eating your dinner then it's enjoyable to guess the songs too but it feels alot like it scams people our of their time some of the song peices they put on are bizarre and noone would be able to guess them. Some of the categories they do are very far stretched aswell. I'm not a fan of the presenters they are a bit stiff and the clothing choices. Sometimes they are all done up other times it's like they forgot they were working that day.
Culpa mía (2023)
It's good but lots of plot lines like most these days
If your watching the movie thinking it's going to be anything other than a wattpad type novel then give this a miss. If you like beautiful disaster, after, the summer I turned pretty tv show ect.. your going to really enjoy this movie. I actually prefer this movie over After series, it had some comedy not as much as beautiful disaster but the problem I have with all these newer movies is they are all the same. With big complicated problems and lots of them, a girl with daddy issues, a boy with mummy issues. Yawn! It can no longer just be a rom com or thriller it's got to have multiple plot lines in it and it's all shoved in your face from the first 5 minutes of watching.. the one thing I enjoyed is the main leads definitely have chemistry!
It's a good non toxic relationship for this first movie unlike the movie After. The characters are really likable. I think it would of been better as a TV show and it could of been more in depth.
Citadel (2023)
It's okay
It felt a little bit like a mix or a long kiss goodnight & Jason Bourne but slower paced. The script feels tedious at time & everything's over explained. It can be a bit hard to follow as everyone seems to work for everyone or has worked for someone. Alot of things are convenient in the show too. Both spies manage to leave the train wreck fine no burns ect kind of convenient. It is a bit eye roll worth in the first episode gets amnesia, marries, moves to a farm for the simple life. Like I said its a very mixed show but if you like the spy shows with not much more than surface level with trying to seem deeper you will enjoy it.
Beautiful Disaster (2023)
Not sure what this movie was trying to be
Started off as a bit of a mystery then turned into the After movies which are referenced a few times, alot of comedy though which I enjoyed which then switched to a 40 days 40 nights type of thing then very quickly turned into the movie 21, alot of mixed genres and storyline in one even though its simple to follow but it just felt like alot! And big dramas over nothing sometimes. I do wish they would of drawn out some scenes more than others, to go more in depth with the characters. Overall most of the movie I was laughing but I couldn't get over the main girl looking pretty old, yes it's common for 18/19 year old characters to be payed by 20/30 somethings but she just wasn't likable or right for the role.
Scream VI (2023)
Confusing
So there's 3 killers all who are very predictable from the begging, your saying Quinn who is 5ft something and tiny was able to throw a muscular guy through a bookcase? At First I thought maybe the cop ( her dad) somehow got their first but no & she said she killed him then tried to kill gale & mindy. I love the scream franchise but it was all very ridiculous and not in the typical scream movie way. The boyfriend jsut pulling a ladder out of nowhere & them never finishing one of ghosts face off just hit and run after all they endured & know?
Its setting it for kurby to be the new dewey which I somewhat like but the sister I don't like at all especially when she's talking to her dad in her mind like... no thanks.
Mindcage (2022)
Some of the actors did this as a favour surely?
Martin needs to stay in his lane, the acting is awful from both lead actors
(detectives) the script aswell. It's a hard watch all round, within 10 minutes of watching this I was confused if it was supposed to be a spoof. Some of the actors that are amazing must have done this as a favour to someone in production. Alot of clichés in the film too that I could of easily overlooked if the writing or acting was good. But it's so difficult & everything's very full on very quickly over minor things or things that dont make sense, let's not even talk about the soundtrack used. I'd give this a miss if after 10 minutes you feel the same.
Shotgun Wedding (2022)
Enjoyable watch
Youve got the perfect mix for a typical wedding movie thats made all that more fun by pirates! It's a silly light hearted movie and it falls into that very well, I do wish there was more comedic script from other characters in the movie, really enjoyed the movie though and all the characters. Looked like alot of fun to film for the cast. I'm not a big lover of the two main actor and actress usually so I did put off watching this for a while. Some easy to see plot twists, nothing that's not been done before but still entertaining, a bit brutal at times but I suppose it's a little bit of a dark comedy.
On the Line (2022)
Enjoyable but poor lines
I did guess the plot early on however half way in, it really had me guessing. It's hard to get over the writing as some of the actors' lines are like... what, you question everyone in the scenes and who you can trust. It's a fun light watch film, and the en though I was right in guessing the plot in the end, I still enjoyed the film. I suppose the dialogue did make sense in the end. This film is a good watch if you like movies similar to the game feat. Micheal Douglas , I get why some would find it a difficult watch. Personally, I think Mel Gibson was a mistake to be cast as a lead in this movie.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)
This movie was chefs kiss satire
Order yourselves a pizza, settle down and get ready for the craziest fever dream of your life because we have been blessed by Al yankovic taking us on a wild ride through his personal life and career and we loved every minute of it! I put the movie on not thinking it would be much and god was I wrong, if you want yo laugh your way through and evening this is the way to do it, crazy, silly & fun. Radcliffe was fantastic throughout the film, I will admit I was a bit taken back. He's stared in alot of comedic roles but I would have never pictured him playing this role so well. Give it a watch you won't regret it.
The Wonder (2022)
Good watch
I didn't mind the opening scene or narrator/breaking the 4th wall, I know alot of people didn't, it got me interested in the film. The set designs, costumes ect were fantastic. A small cast with a few sets, really good concept for a film. Lots of different characters in a small space. Great acting from all the characters no matter how big or small their part was, Florence especially.. some scenes can feel a little repetitive at times but this is due to the plot of the film. It is not a scary film or a thriller stated on some websites but more a drama. I do love movies set in these time periods.
After Ever Happy (2022)
Round and around we go
I just really wanted the movie to be about tessa & hardin dating other people for a while but.. Over an hour of the movie ( not an exaggeration) is spent breaking up, they both agree to break up continuously throughout the hour in the UK & US, followed by intervals of them looking moody, at their phones. Nothing really makes sense. He gets a book deal out of nowhere. Her dads death was a anti climax, alot of things that should of been big scenes were made into rushed scenes just so they happened, dont know why the breaking up scene had to be an hour long, it could of been a good 10 minutes, then shown tessa more on her own in New York instead of a 30 second flash of her getting a job. & a mate date. The fact they talk about being more open with eachother to the point it can be made into 3 movies previously for them to just see or hear 1 tiny thing and run off somtimes to another country its just bizarre. Not routing for them at all.both super moody, their words and promises mean nothing, both of them never really do much wrong but it's blown up for movie drama, i imagine these movies are targeted more towards young teens.
Look Both Ways (2022)
Sliding doors nostalgia
Order youselfs a takeaway and get cosy, I Definitely got nostalgia watching this film similar (loosely) to the plot of sliding doors.. loved how they overlap the characters in certain scenes, it's definitely a good watch, very light hearted but had be sobbing and laughing. You go on two journeys so many of us have thought about and at the end you realise you get to where you need to be in the end.
Marianne (2019)
Don't watch it alone
Honestly I'd watch hereditary alone in the middle of the woods for laughs but this series was unbelievable, I watched it with a pillow covering my eyes most of the time, unbelievable scenes, very creepy and scary. If your not keen on horror then I'd definitely give this a miss, I found it hard to follow the storyline but it's my own fault for hiding.
Coming Home in the Dark (2021)
Tense and ruthless
Reminded me a little of funny games, very tense the whole way through, you're never really sure what's going on or going to happen next. Some good acting & shock scenes. Leaves you wondering and feelings of confused sadness.
Day Shift (2022)
Easy watch. Don't think too much into it
Not much depth to the story however if your wanting an easy watch for a friday evening, that's fast paced, few laughs and some good fight scenes. This is the movie for you. Pretty simple plot, very entertaining and loved dave Franco & snoop dog. It's definitely one i could watch again. Some bad point.. Jamie foxx's characters was written a little rigid for him, even dislikable for half the movie. I do feel like they could of done some flashback scenes and added a bit more depth to the characters and some scenes but all in all its very enjoyable.
Into the Deep (2022)
Lead actor is awful, people arent understand the very simple plot, easy watch for a lazy Friday
I dont understand some of the reviews they clearly dont understand the very simple plot. Heres the gist of it....
A girl meets a man who ends up drugging her (you dont know this at the time) on waking up they are out at sea, shortly after some romances they rescue a woman whos on a jet ski, after leaving you guessing who can trust by putting you in Jess's shoes, dodgy characters & suspicious behaviour .. its revealed its the man whos been drugging women repeatedly and assaulting them, taking photos as souvenirs, the woman who was rescued (lexi) was one of these women, who planned to board the ship with a cover story in order to get revenge, she had marked her face in hopes it would disguise her along with changing her hair colour, he doesnt recognise her (as hes done it to alot of women) the ending is a happy one. Jess goes back to the boat after it blowing up as she thinks she can maybe saver ( she wasnt able to save her mother from drowning) jess feels like it could be closure however the boat explodes again but lexi tirns up near the jet ski, the mans body is left on the boat and they go off into the sun set/rise as it wear.
Its not going to be memorable, the lead actor is just cringe and so overdramatic but so are the other two, its a good watch for a Friday night takeaway of your also the sort to browse on your phone.
