As always, Frank Herbert's story's are fabulous & deep. However, this miniseries was a typical Sci-Fi show: lousy writing; subpar acting; everything mediocre.
There are some silver linings in this 3-yawn series. The soundtrack is exceptional. The few elite actors they managed to steal barely held the series together.
For 2003, special FXs were good, but did not age well. Romantic scenes were done w/ teenaged boys in mind (it was Sci-Fi Chan, remember?). The character development scenes were rushed, losing all that Herbert intended.
Unfortunate Sci-Fi never learned and continues to this day to hire the same studio crew because it's cheaper...

A great wealth of information and structured very well. Unfortunately, the producers & directors decided to mirror the speeches in a format similar to todays Def Poetry style.
Just reading the words is not enough. The tone, speed, and inflections used was critical to FDs oratory brilliance. People wrote about his delivery and the fact that information is freely available was not utilized for stylistic reasons and being hip was also unfortunate.
