The story opens up with French wording and English interpretation. "There are three kinds of people; those who are alive, those who are dead, and those who go to sea." (Aristotle.)

This is not "Das Boot" (1981) but it is more than just a submarine story. It is more of a story of Chanteraide (François Civil) a submarine sonar listener and interpreter, proving himself and growing against the odds. We also have the obligatory love story that takes a back seat to the action.

It is interesting because it is French so the movie is francocentric and many of the visual words are in French so we get to learn a little. The subtitles do not exactly match the dubbing so you will have to watch and listen to get the full meaning of what they are saying.

The only problem is that we keep having to listen to a minimalistic score by Tomandandy, which distracts from natural sounds and tries to prepare us for surprises.

Also, I had to look up Fourier transform harmonics spectra in the process. If you do not hear from me for a while, I will be reading up on this.

Mostly a lot of drole background noise that is actually one of the characters. At least it is not rap music. Also, it is not constant. But it is distracting.

I do not mind most accents but most of these actors or the characters they play have a nasty speech impediment (I think a poor attempt at cockney) that requires closed caption. Even the closed caption person has to misspell most words as they are slurred by the actors. You can look up an English - Cockney Translator - AI Translator - Mr. Dialect.

Oh, no it is one of those run of the mill forensic detective who and how done it programs. This time the characters have no charisma more like old drunks. They would not be in that position if they did it for free. Watching the clock, you know when there are misleads in the story and when the closure comes at the same time in each of the 56 episodes.

Based on books by crime author Ann Cleeves. If her books are anything like the series, I think I can skip them.

The has to be some sort of subtle attraction for someone, that I am totally overlooking as I cannot believe it made it past the first season. This thing gives me nightmares.

An ex-employee is dispatched upon attempting to divulge a diabolical plot of the futuristic theme park, "Futureworld." This tips off Chuck Browning ( Peter Fonda) the reporter who originally exposed the "Westworld" incident.

The reporter and his ex-co-reporter Tracy Ballard (Blythe Danner at 33 years old), now a TV commutator are on their way to Futureworld to see what makes it safer and more fun. Chuck sort of forgot to tell Tracy why he was going there.

Because this is a sequel the plot is pretty much transparent. The action is predictable. They take extra time creeping around to extend the time.

It is fun to see the old-time CRTs and primitive CGI. Watch as the movie unfolds, and you are allowed to kibitz. The question is will there be a follow-up movie? Will it be a pastworld perfect participle?
