The Survivalist (2021)
What a waste for Malkovich and JRM
The movie is fair at best. Set in post apocalyptic America after COVID has ravaged the nation. John Malkovich is just slumming, looking for a paycheck in this one. I'll never understand though with all the talent that Johnathan Rhys Meyers has, why isn't he a bigger star. The guy is much too good for this turkey. Oh well, if you have nothing else to watch then go for it.
Run with the Hunted (2019)
A good flick that leaves many unanswered questions
Good acting, by a solid cast. The movie follows Oscar, a young boy who killed an abusing father of his best friend Loux. After spending a night alone on the run from the law he meets a young street girl, Peaches.
She takes him to her "home" which is nothing more than a band of roving pickpocketers, who prey on unsuspecting citizens on the streets of Tulsa. They are helped by Sway who has a good heart for the kids, and he helps to shield them from the real evil of Bird. Bird is the the leader and mastermind to exploit these kids for his own needs of money, even murder.
The movie then flashes 15 years later to show Oscar now an adult, take his own band of misfits "The Lost Boys" under his wing to run scams and robberies.
Then we get to see Loux who has not seen Oscar since he killed her father. She takes a job with a low rent private investigator all the while searching for Oscar with help of her brother.
I found myself enthralled and anxious to see how it all played out when Loux and Oscar finally found each other again. But I was left with many questions after it ended. What happened to Loux and her brother? What did they do with the Lost Boys in the back of the van, lol? Did they rise up and get revenge on Bird?
Still the movie was pretty good, with a solid supporting cast. It shows powerful bonds of love a friendship can help even the most wayward heart. I was say give it a watch if you have an extra 90 minutes.
Christmas Comes Twice (2020)
Thank you Hallmark
Not really, but it seems if you don't say this movie is the greatest ever your review won't get approved.
We have MIT, astrophysicist, renewable energy, and more. Is it possible for Hallmark to have the lead actress profession a tad bit more relatable? My favorite part is she was one of the top people in her field, but takes a Greyhound bus home, lmao! If you're that well off, you have a car service. What happened to you Hallmark?
Deadly Mile High Club (2020)
Laughable and the worst lead actor Lifetime has ever cast
The lead actress was ok, but holy fedora people, was the lead actor "Jake" terrible. I can't tell what was worse, his acting or the script. Let's call it a tie! Like his mother and law said, the IQ of a donut. Oh, and shave the back of your neck.
So many ridiculous parts, like no investigation into Gonzo's crash. How about how the wife found the models address by searching license plates!!!!
I only gave it a 3 star rating because of the different storyline involving planes, and the lead actress's performance with such a flawed script. If you watch this strictly for a comedy, then it should get a 7.
A Daughter's Plan To Kill (2019)
Daddy issues
Your standard LMN bad daughter trying to ruin her new family. The whole cast was very good, with one exception, the father. He is a dunce, like most Lifetime movies. And he had this weak pouty face constantly, no matter the situation, all while mumbling his words.
We get to ride along with the evil daughter Samantha as she tries to undo her estranged father's new family. One by one she tries to get even with each member.
As far as the end, we see how far she will really take her revenge, but we never get to see what eventually happened to Samantha after the cops arrived. Instead it cuts to a scene of the family together again frolicking in the sunshine, meh.
The Mistletoe Secret (2019)
Nice feel good Hallmark Christmas movie
First of all I'm not going to pile on Kellie Pickler for this movie. She's not the best, but she has gotten better than last years Christmas at Graceland movie. It helps when she gorgeous to look at too.
You know how many movies I watch where you can just tell the actors are mailing it in! Besides, Tyler is a good actor and with Patrick Duffy to hold it together, it's rather enjoyable.
A Dangerous Date (2018)
Ridiculous
Another cliche movie about the pitfalls of online dating. Our lead actor Peter is still not over the death of his first wife, when his doting daughter sets him up with an online dating account.
He meets Alexis who he immediately falls for. The movie then checks off all the LMN psycho boxes from there. She quickly becomes clingy and it's destined to end badly.
The biggest problem to me is the father. He stops believing what his own daughter is telling him. You're super close with your daughter and all of the sudden she is going to start lying to you about your new girlfriend (yeah right). And don't get me started how this weak wimp can't fight off the psycho trying to stab him at the ending. She probably weighs 100lbs soaking wet, and he's supposed to be this strong male, yet he can fight her off to save his daughter.
Then after everything he has been through, what does he do at the very end??? Yep you guessed it, let's go on another date. So stupid!
One last real thing that was nerve wracking was Alexis' white makeup, it was so over the top and you could see she was actually tanned on other areas of her body, but forced to wear a white mask? WTF, very distracting.
A Friend's Obsession (2018)
Mama knows
Our LMN psycho (Lloyd) has a fixation on (Megan) from work. He follows her across the country as she grieves her fiancé's death to hopefully reignite their friendship, but ol Lloyd wants more. Much more!
After seeing how Lloyd is misguided and very close, and I mean close to his mother. We can tell he will stop at nothing to win Megan's love. He won't let Megan's sister (Kate) or her new boyfriend (Chris) get in the way of his and his mothers plan for true love.
Nothing new here, but the actors were all pleasant and the scenery was nice to look at too. A few plot holes, but then again we're watching LMN so that is to be expected to a point. If you have 2 hours to waste, go for it.
The Ex Next Door (2019)
Neighbor from hell
An ex moves in next door to get close to the one who got away. She sets her traps and of course the clueless husband and wife team just idiotically walk right into them.
Just a couple of ridiculous parts for me was
1. The husband is in a golf cart, outfit, clubs, and even his glove on to start. He rides up to his business partner and informs him he can't play golf today, and the very next shot he rides away and uses his cellphone! You couldn't have just called him and told him? No, you just got your entire golf setup ready, then ride up in your cart to say that to him, WTF!
2. Close to the climax, our Lifetime heroine is coming walking into her house while on the phone with the policeman. He tells her they have an arrest warrant out for the psycho ex and she is dangerous and to stay away. While on the call she notices someone is in her house, well I just wonder who that could be??? Then she just hangs up!!! You have the police on the phone, tell them to come, and that the psycho is inside, right? Nope, just hang up!
Sidelined (2018)
Lethal Soccer Coach would have been better
Standard Lifetime movie fare. Cameron is a high school star soccer player that moves to a rival school. As she tries out for the team it seems the coach Rhonda will stop at nothing to derail Cameron's happiness. Coach Rhonda even uses her own daughter Hailey in her plot.
Nothing new here, but quite silly the coach can get away with so much without any consequences. Teens live for their phones now, but how unbelievable it is they never once take it out to record a confession or say... the kiss between a teacher and a student. Oh but of course you pull the phone out to record a kiss during a party.
Wouldn't the police have interviewed Paul after being hit by the car??? And what even happened to Paul, did he make it???? The movie never followed up.
Oh I guess the maintenance man found Kimmy locked up in the boiler room too. But by some miraculous way she was shown at the end being rescued off camera in time for the ending.
The Killing Pact (2017)
Pass on this one
Horrible movie, ridiculous plot. Wooden lead actress with a resting b face throughout the movie. Don't waste your time on this worthless movie, go see the original instead.
Kindred Spirits (2019)
An entertaining ride
Sadie moves back in with her estranged sister, Chloe and her teenage daughter Nicole. Nicole is a troubled teenage girl, but she has one true fried, Shay. Derek is her boyfriend, and he seems to make Nicole a happy girl again.
The movie really focuses on Sadie as we see how unhinged she becomes, as she starts to tear the entire family apart. Nothing will stop her to get what she wants, even if that means hurting the people she supposedly loves.
The actress that plays Sadie is the entire reason to spend the time to watch. She chews up the scenery every time she is on screen. Especially as we ride along with her, in her descent to madness.
Stalked by My Neighbor (2015)
Straight forward LMN fun
No real twists or turn just good late night fun. This story follows Jodi as she recovers from a traumatic attack in her own home, as her mom looks on through the webcam.
They both look for a fresh start in a new neighborhood outside of the city. As she begins to spend her time observing the neighbors from her bedroom, she notices some strange behavior.
Soon Lisa, a next door neighbor that is raising her niece, winds up dead. The whodunnit points fingers at the mechanic Jody has a crush on or another creepy neighbor named Ted who's marriage is in shambles. But could it even be the niece Kristen, behind it all?
Deadly Shores (2018)
Terrible acting
Don't waste your time on this one. I'm usually a sucker for LMN movies, but this one fell flat. The lead actor is absolutely awful. You'll find better acting in a skin flick, definitely skip this one.
