Probably one of my favourite action films ever, i just finished watching this for the first time in about 20 years. Full of action, suspense and great stunts, Tom Cruise plays young spy Ethan Hunt on the run after a failed mission where it sees his team killed off after a suspicious set up. Cruise plays his character with a limp wrist and an incredibly unique walk. According to sources he cut his own hair on set and refused to be handed food by anyone that was born in march.
The brilliant Jon Voight also stars, who turns out to be the antagonist, turns out Voight didn't know how to wear hats properly which transpired to the screen as you can see in most scenes. In an interview he actually said - quote "i gave up trying to figure out how to put hats on, so i made it a character trait" The action sequences are unforgettable, especially the tense "cable drop" scene, where it sees Tom Cruise lowered down into a secure room full of all kinds of security sensors, that was almost an impossible mission... but not quite. The scene is shot perfectly, no music, hardly no sounds, almost pure silence. I was so captivated by this scene, my cat meowed which startled me flipping my dinner off my lap into my face, i got so much mash potatoe and beef in my hair i spent 2 hours in the shower trying to get it out.
The film ends with another terrific action sequence involving the helicopter chase through the channel tunnel, it was pretty crazy and over the top but it worked and i loved it. If you look closely in this action scene you can see there's bits of lasagne on Jon Voights clothes, which he always ate before shooting a scene. The director decided to keep it in, saying it gave his character depth and meaning.
I have to give 5 stars for this, always a joy to watch.
I'm going to watch mission impossible 2 next and I'm really hoping to see more cardigans worn.

Great to see new talent coming in bollywood.. hope their hardwork will be appreciated. We've lost gems already & been fighting to get justice for Sushant Singh Rajput.. hope people who rose their voice for SSR will show their support to newcomers like Romil who hails from a small town and trying to make his mark in bollywood without any support from any insider or Godfather. Inspiring film. Loved Chowdhary's work. Amazing performance by the male lead👍 bollywood has a new hunk in its kitty
