.... but the storyline was incredibly annoying. The outline could have been developed into an interesting story, but of course they went with what I knew the storyline this show would follow before even see episode one. And by the end of that episode, I'd had enough - enough of James Norton's character not listening AT ALL to his partner and her reservations about what was happening. Enough of the other dad's character bullying his way into other people's lives and them letting him. I couldn't care less how this show ends. I'm sure if I thought about it enough, I'd be right, though, it's so predictable.
I'm clearly in the minority of people who didn't like this show. There must be something in that I've only just heard about it in 2025 (while scanning things to watch at my local library) and yet it was a series from 2009-2017 - 7 seasons would usually make one think it was a great production.....
I debated watching the second episode, but got to a scene where the Commander of the German army was acting and thought, nope. This is just woeful - and I'll watch anything WW2 related - and I'll always watch anything French. But this is just bad. The sets are good, the costumes good too - but it's just badly acted (by some) and just badly directed.

I love a quiet movie, with the music creating an atmosphere that doesn't require too much dialogue - but when there is dialogue, it needs to be good. I didn't find that with Past Lives. I didn't expect anything too amazing, these are just two people living their lives, after all, but the conversations were pretty dull - I've more interesting conversations with the guy behind the counter at my local shop!
The cinematography was lacking a little too - and that is what I really thought I'd be getting with this movie. It's a shame, because Seoul and New York are amazing places, but they didn't shine here.
I was bored halfway through and skipped to the end to see the ending that I really didn't care about.
