The Cuphead Show!: Lost in the Woods (2022)
This Episode Cannot Be Canon
Lost In The Woods was definitely my least favorite episode of season 2. It had its moments, such as Mugman's cabin, but to be completely honest, I really did not like Cuphead in this one. He was very unlikable, not to mention quite a bit out of character in this one. I think that in reality, Cuphead would know better than to blast all the firewood away. He's been shown to be smarter than that in the past. This episode turned Cuphead from lovable scamp to just a plain old brat, and thus, I do not consider it to be canon. The characterization is just way too out there.
I mean, can you really watch all the episodes up to this point and tell me this is how Cuphead usually behaves? Really? What were the writers, or basically anyone in production, think when they were making this episode? Did they really think this is how Cuphead normally reacts? Let's hope something like this never happens again.
Jaiden Animations: Being Not Straight (2022)
Very Important For The Aspec Community
As an aroace, I think it was very good for aspec representation and visibility for Jaiden to come out like this, and very brave of her given the reactions to it. It made me so happy when I saw this video, to know that there is someone so well-known out there who shares my identity.
Hilda (2018)
A Cozy Comforting Delight
This show has a wonderfully whimsical atmosphere, but there's also something about it that's just so soft and cozy to me. Like a story that your parents would tell you to help you go to sleep. Of course, there are some scary parts, but they're few and far between. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a chill but also immersive experience reminiscent of a fairytale.
Undertale (2015)
Some Cautionary Advice
The game itself is a work of art. The story's immersive, the characters (except Sans and mettaton) are superb, and the music is heavenly. Just watch out for the fandom, they will ruin it for you if you're not careful.
Little Nightmares (2017)
A Big Nightmare
I stumbled upon a playthrough of this game at 3:00 AM while trying to sleep. When I got to the scene where Six ate a nome, I knew there would be no more sleep for me that night.
This game was the cause of the most traumatic nightmares I'd ever had in my life, most of which revolving around those iconic, god-forsaken hunger scenes. Tobias really knows how to set the mood with his music, that's for sure. Six's theme clearly conveys her desperation for nourishment, along with an undeniable sense of danger. Everything also feels so surreal, like you'd expect a nightmare to be. And like a nightmare, you aren't sure what's going on, or what might happen next.
Dora the Explorer (2000)
She Will Always Be With Me
You can say whatever you want about this show, i don't care. I was absolutely obsessed with this show when I was little. I watched it every day and had all sorts of toys and merchandise from it. Dora was what inspired me to be curious about the world around me, and to learn Spanish. I don't think I'd be quite the same person I am today if this show didn't exist. Thus, it will always have a special place in my heart.
Also: It's fun to sing the songs and annoy people.
Encanto (2021)
My Favorite Pixar Movie
The music is amazing, the voice acting was flawless, and all the characters were incredibly relatable and nuance. Not to mention the story itself was heartfelt and real despite the fantasy of the setting.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018)
It Was Great Until Season 5
As my headline implies, i highly enjoyed this show at first. I'd binge every season than wait in anticipation for the next one to come out. It was the perfect thing to get my 'strong female characters with wholesome friendships with a dash of redemption arcs' fix. Highly specific I know, but we all have our preferences.
And then season 5 came along. Oh, boy. It had its moments, but the cons far outweigh the pros for me. The biggest of which being the finale.
Now, before you put words in my mouth, I do not dislike the catradora ship because it is lesbian. I would dislike it just as much if it was straight, probably even more so since it would be a lot more predictable that way.
I didn't even see it coming at first. I knew people were shipping it of course, but it was just like meh, people ship characters all the time. Then the finale came, and I was in shock. I still can't believe they actually did it.
The more I think about it, the more of a bad taste it leaves me. The whole thing plays out like a cliche, badly written fanfic. We have enemies to lovers, misunderstandings, angst, and toxicity. So much toxicity. Noelle doesn't stop there, though. She has headcanons. For her own work. Because apparently the fandom wasn't toxic enough.
Adora deserves so much better than an obsessive control freak who abused her and was probably a large contributor to her self-sacrificing personality. And it makes me queasy that there are tons of people out here that not only have no problem with this, but think it's wholesome and cute. And this show is mainly geared towards kids. Kids should not think that it's okay for people to treat them like this, or they can do bad things, say sorry and that's all it takes to fix things.
Also, there wasn't enough Scorpia.
The Cuphead Show! (2022)
A Great Show And Then Some
This show does a great job of keeping with that old-school feel, without feeling dated. The stories are solid, the humor is good, and every voiceacter fits their characters very well. The thing keeping this from being a 10 for me is that there aren't more characters from the game. I'm hoping that future episodes will fix that, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Happy Tree Friends (1999)
Traumatising
Okay, so I consider myself to be a pretty openminded indevijual, and I always try to respect other people's opinions. But I just don't understand how anyone could find cute fluffy animals being brutally mutilated funny. Maybe it's because I have a habit of becoming overly attached and immersed in fictional worlds, or I always imagine what it might feel like if I were in the situation of the characters on screen. But whatever the reason is, I can safely say that this is not for me. If you do like this show, then I respect that, but hopefully you'll understand why I don't want to be alone with you.
Also, my heart goes out to any little tablet-mashers who stumbled on this by mistake, or were deliberately shown this by their parents because they didn't bother to take five seconds out of their lives to think about what they're putting in the minds of their spawn.
