This movie is like a total vibe, taking you on a journey through the life of this iconic queer artist.
OMG guys, just caught Scooter LaForge: A Life of Art and I'm shook! This movie is like a total vibe, taking you on a journey through the life of this iconic queer artist. Scooter spills all the tea on his struggles and his epic come-ups, showing us what it's really like in the NY art scene. And let me tell you, his impact is MAJOR, especially in NYC where he's been making waves! His style is EVERYTHING! And guess what? His gear ain't for just anyone, honey! Celebs like Beyoncé be sportin' his threads. So if you're looking for a movie that's gonna hit you right in the feels and make you think, Scooter LaForge: A Life of Art is the one! Don't sleep on it, this flick is lit AF!
A Dangerous Prey (2024)
"A Dangerous Prey" isn't your typical movie.
"A Dangerous Prey" isn't your typical movie. It's breaking through the norm. Starring the dynamic duo TaJa Brittaney and Marlon Ladd, Keisha and Aiden, a couple with their own secrets, dip out from the city hustle, hoping for a better life. Their dreams get crushed by a harsh reality. Racists in their new hood start messing with them, and when Aiden's away, Keisha's left holding it down solo. Now she's gotta tap into her strength and smarts, flipping the script from prey to a force to be reckoned with. If you into femme fatale revenge you must check out A Dangerous Prey. I give it 2 thumbs up.
Un-resolved (2022)
Un-Resolved isn't just your typical redemption story.
Un-Resolved isn't just your typical redemption story. This flick keeps you on the edge with mad tension, old scars getting ripped open, and secrets spilling out like it's nobody's business. The climax? Straight-up heart-stopping, got you clinging to the edge of your seat. But what really makes "Un-Resolved" stand out is the killer performances and storytelling finesse. Each character is deep and complex, making it easy to vibe with their struggles and triumphs. If you're into gripping stories, dope performances, and a real message, "Un-Resolved" is a must. I recommend this one with two thumbs up.
Amy's F-It List (2023)
Straight up, it's a journey that'll have you buggin' from start to finish.
Yo, peep this movie, fam! That flick's got a mad dope message that's straight fire. Amy's "F it list" is like a real talk blueprint for all of us hustlin' in these streets. It's all about throwin' hands at our own fears and livin' in the now, feel me? We stay forgettin' to cherish what we got right this sec, always stuck in the past or dreamin' 'bout the future. Now, let me tell you 'bout the wild ride these two shorties go on. It's like a Thelma and Louise for the modern grind, and the ending? Bruh, that joint hits you with one of the illest surprises in cinema. Straight up, it's a journey that'll have you buggin' from start to finish. Don't sleep on this one-it's a real game-changer in the movie scene!
Whiskey Sour (2022)
A well-crafted narrative that explores the intricate tapestry of human relationships
The brilliance of the film extends beyond the performances to the written word itself. The screenplay is a work of art, displaying a meticulous craftsmanship that elevates the narrative to a level of intellectual and emotional profundity. The dialogue is not merely a means to convey information but a poetic dance that enriches the storytelling, providing the audience with a thought-provoking and immersive experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this cinematic opus to discerning viewers who appreciate the profound impact of a well-crafted narrative that explores the intricate tapestry of human relationships with unparalleled depth and resonance.
What Rhymes with Reason (2023)
The film as a whole didn't live up to expectations.
This movie attempted to address teen struggles with anxiety, depression, and suicide, but unfortunately, it fell short in various aspects. The acting, writing, and production quality were below par, not meeting the usual standards. Despite the attempt to convey a positive message about seeking help without shame, the execution lacked impact. Each character dealt with unique challenges, but the portrayal of their feelings and mental issues felt lacking. The friends' involvement in helping them was somewhat forced, and the film failed to engage the audience effectively. While it touched on the idea that appearances can be deceiving, the overall quality of the movie didn't quite deliver. Despite some moments of laughter, heartache, and perseverance, the film as a whole didn't live up to expectations.
Pay the Lady (2023)
Pay The Lady!
Pay the Lady brings a fresh vibe to the classic crime boss genre, and it's a total win. Lauren Floyd, aka "Star," nails it, showcasing a character with a rollercoaster of emotions - from innocent princess to calculated killer, proving her acting prowess. Maurice Whitfield steals the show, owning every scene he's in. Missira Ross, as "Pam," adds much-needed humor to the intense plot, evolving beyond a supporting role. For an indie flick, the production quality is top-notch, delivering captivating cinematography. For an indie flick, the production quality is top-notch, delivering captivating cinematography. Can't wait for the next one! A must-watch for those craving a unique take on crime dramas.
Broken City (2023)
This movie got some twists!
This movie has got some twists! Like little girl Lucy throws a curveball that puts the robbers on shaky ground. Desmond suggests they bounce with the cash and bling, but the greedy Andy ain't havin' it. Homeboy wants in on Dominic's crypto stash, sparking tension, loyalty shifts, and high stakes drama. It gets real with unexpected bloodshed and even a touch of moral redemption. Despite a tight budget, it navigates the twists with mad skills through the suspense levels it be playin'. The acting ain't always on point, kinda hit or miss, but Ronnie Angel got it going on with that menacing vibe and Darling Darling holdin' it down himself.
Running Through Darkness (2018)
Running Through Darkness ain't your typical jam!
I stumbled on while chillin' on Tubi. Yeah, it's an oldie but it fresh, but let me tell ya, it ain't playin' by the rules. Running Through Darkness ain't your typical jam-it's breakin' all them societal expectations, ya feel me? It's ahead of its time, straight up. So, here's the deal: it's about this regular dude Calvin, played by Landon Beard, who comes across this messed-up chick, Robin, played by Lillian Bornstein. She's been left for dead, and bam! Calvin gets sucked into her shady, messed-up world, yo. No spoilers, but lemme tell ya, this indie gem's a real eye-opener. It's worth a watch, no cap.
Say Goodbye to Hollywood (2022)
A story of hope.
Say Goodbye to Hollywood is set in a dystopian COVID-inspired Los Angeles and follows the lonely life of a LA homeless man. I am pretty sure this movie was made during the pandemic because there is no way to get the shots of the empty Hollywood streets that you see in this movie without paying a lot of money! It's so eerie to see the streets so empty but the scene where a man is executed in the streets by people in hazmat suits was jarring to say the least. That scene getting stuck with me. Having said that this is a story of hope and I am always a sucker for a story with hope. If you like a movie that ultimately is about hope watch Say Goodbye to Hollywood.
The Other Side of Darkness (2022)
Beautiful scenery and nice camera work.
The Other Side of Darkness has some surprises, some suspense and shows just how very beautiful Ohio truly is. Beautiful scenery and nice camera work. Now don't get me wrong. This is not a multi million dollar movie. It was not shot by Roger Deakins. It is an indie film which by definition is a movie that is done way below standard studio budgets and resources. But there is nothing below standard about The Other Side Of Darkness. The camera work is great and honestly at times the scenery almost took me out of the movie because it was so very cool looking. That's probably just the naturist in me though.
As the Village Sleeps (2021)
More mystery than horror
As The Village Sleeps is more of a mystery thriller than a horror movie but I still found it to be enjoyable. Honestly, I'm not sure what's up with the mix of reviews left here. It seems as though people either love it or hate it. Which I guess is a sign that the makers of the movie did something right, right? I mean, as the audience member I think a movie should evoke something from us whether we love it or hate it, just make us feel something. Isn't that why we watch movies? To escape our own worlds for a little while and to feel something different than just the everyday world? As The Village Sleeps did that for me.
Craving (2023)
Craving is a bloody independent masterpiece
In Craving the actors did a solid job building the tension and developing a chemistry on screen between each other. It is a really awesome horror movie with a great concept and a lot of wonderful special effects makeup! There is a lot of blood, gore, and even flying heads which I'm always a fan of. A definite must watch for indie horror lovers! The story starts out a little slow but then kicks into high gear and stays there until the end! If you enjoy indie suspense movies, give this one a go and you will not be disappointed. If you are a low-budget horror junkie, this movie delivers a potent fix. I could give it three thumbs up I would!
Butterfly (2022)
A Gritty yet Beautiful story.
This indie crime drama about a young mother trying to hold her life together and regain custody of her son is gritty, true to life and beautiful. Melanie Elise is the lead as Butterfly, a young homeless mother navigating poverty, unemployment and crime after losing her son Milo. The filmmakers did a nice job of showing the gritty, seedy, not so pretty side of life in a way that studio filmmakers just don't do these days. The locations also play a big role in this movie and really help to give it that gritty yet beautiful look. I really like some of the choices and use of lighting. Hats off to everyone involved.
Jovi & Lou (2023)
God is a woman and she's funny!
Irreverent and sometimes dark, "Jovi & Lou" can be entertaining and thought provoking for those who view it with an open mind. Others may find the concept of God and the Devil as ex-lovers who determine all aspects of our lives by playing party games too offensive. I personally loved the story and think these indie filmmakers created a soon to become Cult Classic Movie. All of the characters are very delightful but I really got a laugh from Chelsea Suh as Lucy and Jared Lucier as Albert. If you're into original and risky but funny content you don't want to miss this indie gem of a film. I give it two thumbs up.
Dirty Beautiful (2015)
What a wild and crazy ride!
Jordan Monaghan as Kat is a force to be reckoned with in Dirty Beautiful. She commands the screen and holds you captive in the most funny and sometimes frightening way. This is not your typical romance comedy which is what I really loved about it. It's weird and funny and at times almost too much to take. The script is well written with several shout outs to past films of the same genre and the camera work is on point. Nothing wrong with this indie movie. I rate it a nine out of ten, give it two thumbs up and highly recommend it. Oh and if your ever looking for a movie to watch with your boyfriend that will make you look like your not as crazy as some, this is the one!
The Stalker (2020)
Vintage feel with todays social issues
The Stalker is an indie movie with a vintage feel to it. I ran across this flick late last night and was mesmerized by it. It really draws you in and keeps your attention. This is not the kind of movie that I usually choose to watch but I actually thought about some of these scenes all night and I guess the movie kind of got into my head. The lengths this stalker went to to get to this family.... it's just creepy I tell you. It still creeps me out. I give it an eight out of ten rating because it is a little bit of a slow burn but again, it more than held my attention. I'm still thinking about this guy. Two Thumbs Up!
Pocket Full of Game 2 (2021)
Can't wait for Pocket Full of Game 3
Pocket Full of Game 2 picks up fifteen years after Pocket Full of Game 1 with Porsha running from her past only now with her daughter Gabrielle with her. Like the 1st movie, Pocket Full of Game 2 does not disappoint. It's true, real life, straight from the streets, feel is still there. Czarissa Moreno as Gabrielle was an excellent choice and Katherine Nunez (Porsha) does a great job as well. Heck I think Gabrielle be worse than her momma. I can't wait to see what happens in Pocket Full of Game 3 so if the filmmakers are reading this.... you people need to be working on making number 3 for us! I give this movie two thumbs up and a nine out of ten. Watch this movie, I recommend it.
Sold Out (2021)
Where can I buy the soundtrack?
I ran across this indie film late one night and was pleasently surprised with what I had stumbled into. Not your typical romance comedy love story but defeniately a story about hope and love. The music is what actually struck me. All of the songs featured are great and I would love to find them available to download. The acting is not bad, better than you would expect from an indie film. I like that we are lead to believe that she is there to save him yet he also saves her. All in all, I give it two thumbs up and a score of nine of out ten. I'm glad a ran across this gem of a movie and recommend it.
Cohabitation (2020)
Psycho thriller that does not disappoint.
WOW what a psychological thriller this is! The roommate from Hell is an understatement. I really enjoyed how the filmmakers show the underlying issues of mental health while incorporating twists into the story that the viewers don't see coming. The acting is great, the story is good, the camera work works and the production value is high for what you would expect from an indie film. If you're looking for something that draws you in and keeps your attention Cohabitation is the movie for you. I give it two thumbs up and recommend this movie.
While former paramedic Emily tries to live a low-key life to cope with her PTSD, her new roommate has other plans--and a long-held vendetta against medical personnel.
