Don't Say My Name (2022)
God saves girls from being Trafficked and Prostitution
This is a bible-thumper movie and does not really expose the reality of surviving life and human trafficking. God will not help you when you are sold into slavery. This movie was stupid and boring and did not convince us that to believe in in something spiritual would save the world from the evil that men do! I'm sorry but I admit I live in the real world where nothing is taken or given without its price. The laws that separate us from animals are not just, and those lawmakers we elect are in it only for themselves and damn the rest of society. There are plenty of better movies that may relate a better version of just how fragile this topic is and why we aren't doing anything about it. This will continue until we stop it at its highest level of those that continue to propagate the lies that got them into office.
Empire of Light (2022)
Empire of the Lost and Hopeless
This movie of a diamond facets will tear your heart to pieces. The entire cast worked brilliantly as a team to make it possible, and the writers' scripts made a pronounced possibility of all the scenes to coherently fall in place. The time period was surpassed by the excellent costumes and camera shots delivered in the movie score. I was blinded in not knowing what to expect but as the movie progressed, I peered into everyday life in a minuscule way of what happens in every-day life of common people. I did not like what I saw! The diamond facets I saw were not really diamonds but a facade of rust and disparity. I viewed into the window of an older woman dealing with depression and had to normalize her life with questionable drugs, a sexual exploit relation between a married man and his subjugated victim, an austerity of an unmarried older woman seeking love in an interracial bonding with a younger person, and yet having to deal with the outcry of racial tensions in their country and witness racial violence that accompany the streets. Wow! Is it not so much to ask for but a little peace in the hearts of the actors that have to endure the conflict and pain? What if it was real-life (but it is), what can mend this hellhole of discountenance and incongruent way of thinking. Nothing comes to mind more than what we teach our children and loved ones. And nothing less comes from politicians with evil ideas that make policies into law and advocates for a malevolent, morally negative and degenerate impact on society. We need another bloody world war to remind us of who our kinship really is if we are to survive the future. Shame on Society and Government for NOT doing their job and shame the men for the evil that they do! God bless the women who give us hope!
Shotgun Wedding (2022)
Shotgun Disaster
This movie is so bad I turned it off after twenty minutes and threw-up. You can't combine a comedy with an action movie from the start and try to make sense with an unpredictable plot. The entire story leads to nowhere. Total waste of time in forced acting and is not realistic. This movie sucks whether you like it or not. It's hard to judge a film after a short time but it is so bad it doesn't bother repeating the stupidity that surely follows. I confess I did not watch the film in entirety, but that's my choice. Scenery was great, the script sucked, and the direction led nowhere. Not only was it confusing but it had accomplished actors with thumbs in their mouths that did not add to make the script better and make it believable. I don't recommend this movie for a happy camper but for an idiot! J-Lo took a dive!
Air Force: The Movie - Selagi Bernyawa (2022)
Top Gun in a third world
I want to say that this is the best foreign movie I have seen in a long time. The cameras and cinematography deserve an award for accuracy of an account of what they exposed and it's nothing more than a perfection of quality, but it is very accurate to the narrative of what happened to these people. All the emotions are surfaced into the situation of killed or be killed in this civil war, if freedom or tyranny result. The camera continues to collect the heroism of what the peasants are fighting for and consistently expands on the fight of truth or Democracy versus subjugation. The actors were great in portraying their contributions to the drama between their acting and the cameras were able to make sense of a civil war destroying a country of non-violent people who only want live and give the same respect to their children or die in vain. The acting met the moments, and the cameras were too perfect to catch the moments, and the direction was extremely excellent. I equate this movie to a higher Hollywood standard.
White Noise (2022)
Rather Watch the Brady Bunch
What an insult and waste of intelligence and acting! This movie is empty with no direction and a moronic ending. This cornucopia of bland drama is complicated but was to be a potential good movie then fell flat and left nothing to be expected or desired in its entirety! There is no comedy, action or drama but a bunch of buffoonery of family antics that get on your nerves throughout the movie then stalls in its entirety. You keep waiting for something exiting but nothing ever comes. Boredom ensues for more than half of the movie. The script is bad, the camera is good, and acting is mediocre. What do the university stunts have to do with this drama, and what role did Hitler have to do with machinations to further the movie? What did the secret pills have to offer Humanity? For whom was this script written for; university elite students that try to charm you by their successes in Society or meander it to an unknown scientific catastrophe set in a location that may be disastrous toward an ambiguous end of civilization? This movie is nothing more than waste of time and tries to settle some sort of miraculous ending one cannot understand. One hopes to tie these miraculous pills to Hitler or ET but falls flat. And the family life is so obnoxious, it does not maintain a family household drama properly, nor does the unexpected train derailment that seems to be the crux of the movie have anything to do with the lives of the cast. The viewer is lost and has nothing to expect but ambiguity. I'm lost, I don't know what I said!
Prey for the Devil (2022)
It is God who commands you, it is I who commands you...
It has been one of the best exorcisms films I have seen in a long time. A great applause to Jaqualine Byers, who strongly carried the film in its entirety. The script rolled as equal to a more expensive film budget; the cameras had the proper response; the acting coordinated in tune with the all the events that followed. I would have liked to see more of the supernatural phenomena between religion and psychology, and interaction between a reality of good and evil that is instilled in us. This is a sorrowful story of a raped woman that that gives into the temptations of evil and not knowing the outcomes. This could happen to anyone, however, without the sorrowful consequences. Although the script should have committed more occult mysticism to balance the Christian doctrines of exorcism and the attempt of expulsion of an evil entity from a person. I appreciated the awaited twist toward the end that confirms the nuns godsent strength and makes her convictions an honest persuasion of her own perceptions but, "Now that you know the devil, the devil knows you!"
WolfWalkers (2020)
Wolfwalkers Is a Fable that Should Not be Forgotten
Excellent movie for children and adults. Although the pictures were not "Disney" standards, the movie was contained to a cohesive moderate. A fantasy ride through the eyes of man and Nature trying to fit in a world of destruction and persecution whereby might is not only ostensibly the only right but is the cause and the problem of an idyllic society. It is a beautiful portrayal of man and Nature co-existing in this planet regardless of time and save for what little time they have living in fear. On this planet or rock, we call Earth, is that we come to lose respect for those who are different from us. Those who have different beliefs and customs that as Human Beings we should ordain a message of truth that is self-evident and should not take the word of a "wolf in sheep's clothing." But clearly, you must investigate that the Truth merits ALL levels of intelligence from child to adult and supports a greater understanding of truth, history and fables that allows this allegory, the hidden truth, the director is portraying. This fable is well written and deserves all recognition from all departments and should consider another like it! All stars from this critic!
Medieval (2022)
Life is Medieval Torture
Best movie I've seen for 2022. Everything is accurate: the direction, cameras, acting, costumes etc., but the realism begins when the TRUTH is revealed during the story; metaphorically and realistically about the hypocrisy of law, war and religion and all attempts to secure power by any means thru politics and religious ambition. Throughout history, class division has occurred whereby the wealthy oppress in order to continue their dominance over the masses. This has perpetuated through history and is still alive today. This window of time lets us see a sample of history that has pervaded freedom and been suppressed by those in power. Not only are you looking into a mirror in history but are realizing that hate and stupidity repeats itself. The actors are secondary to what the true message delivers, and it is to not trust anything sacred told by man but to have each man measure their own freedoms of religion, sanctity and deter sanctions that may limit their happiness and wellbeing. This is not a love story or a story of war, it is a story of existing and trying to live each day without dying. We ask ourselves, is this not what we are trying to do today? Is this what we want for our children and the future of Mankind to so blindly walk the path that false prophets, kings, politicians, and governors want to lead us? Think man! This may be our demise.
The Huntress: Rune of the Dead (2019)
The Huntress is a Hit
If you want to watch a folklore move this is for you! If you want zombies of present day that get killed with bombs and machine-guns find something else. I loved the setting, the acting, and the costumes, altogether believable for the time period. If you like car crashes and bullets flying, good, but don't watch this movie. This is an artistic film that dwells into another time period where magic, religion and reality either comes together or falls apart. For those who liked this film, see it as an altruism for what people feared and felt to be alive and fear death, respectively. This is NOT a Disney film where all will be positively constructed! The movie transcends you to an age where times are not expected to have a happy ending. We live in a secure world where we expect a certain amount of comfort a reality, however, who's to say if our reality is untruth. DO NOT put down this movie because you understand it to be boring, instead, perhaps, your own life is bored and has no aspirations or expectations of what reality is or what to do with your stingy life. If you don't like movies of other cultures then your solution should be to stick with movies that suit your intelligence, like Pee Wee Herman movies. It's low budget but it serves a purpose to enter a time-period when hunter-gathers had no learning or education to lead them to a society that worked for that time. The viewer sees a boring movie but dismisses the content of what the director portrays, and others see that it is a movie filled with wanderlust and expectations of what may really have happened to our ancestors in that period of time. This movie gave me a gape into the past, even if it was a brief one, thank you.
See How They Run (2022)
See How It Fell
Reminiscent of similar English dry humor films, this one fell flat. Saoirse Ronan brought it to a higher level but couldn't support the play. Although her acting was brilliant the movie struggled between pathos of bewildering flashbacks and confused the audience to dwindle on who the murderous culprit was. The detective was obnoxious and added little to its credibility. You expected more and got none. Character development did not appropriately fixate or try at least to build the drama but was left to simple scenes of humorless humor that desperately tried to resolve a rudderless movie going nowhere. I know it's a British movie and slow, but it's dull and even though it tried so hard to be comical, it mixed a certain amount of action that made it improvable of not coercively working to render a true account of the drama that failed this movie. The actors were great, and the settings were spot-on, but it was either the script or the director that could not decide where the movie was going and instead threw it at you hoping it would suffice and gain points with the audience. If the latter were changed, perhaps the kinetic energy would have taken a different and satisfying measure. A man is killed and the "who dunnit" isn't there to place blame on so many characters because the events are huddled into so many stupid directions the viewers lose interest! I watched it but I didn't have to have my teeth pulled to enjoy.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Don't Worry Paycheck, I'll Be There
A movie that has no beginning or end. A hayride to a perfect society with faults that may be of physical opulence or mental manipulations in a world of untruths. But there is no truth because the viewer is not given enough reality into this prism of being. Acting is good and actors portray their part. You lose the realism when one doesn't own the plot; is it mental or is it corporeal? And where is everyone else in this time-period world? This is reminiscence of "Stepford Wives," where women take a subservient role where dominant male actors run the show. You lose interest when the director cannot communicate the past experiences of the lives of actors portraying the roles experiencing past or present precisely. Nice concept with too many irrational holes. But not a bad movie to waste some time. Direction may be great, but the script was ambiguous!
Jikirag (2022)
Nightmare Only Gets Worse
Story had no intro, no beginning, and no plot. You had a Gothic Freddy Kruger-type who kills children and freaks out the parents. You're left in the dark trying to figure out what is happening. The only action that takes place is nonsense between the actors that seem to be scared of something malevolent and the evil doesn't get introduced according to the rhythm of the movie. It drags for two hours, and the structure doesn't change; it leaves it to your own imagination to what is taking place. This movie could have been a half hour long and still not made sense. If you followed this movie the way I did, you automatically win a box of Cheerios to get you thru the next movie, cause this one took a dive. The monster at the end pays for the Cheerios! Cheerio ole boy!!
Emily the Criminal (2022)
It Will Bite Your Ass and Leave a Mark
WoW! This girl doesn't deserve typical TV... she needs to make more movies like this and others. Her talent draws you in so when you look into her eyes, she amazes you thru the moments. She doesn't hold back; she gives and gives. I hope to see her in other star-power films.
As a credit card thief, she does what anyone would do with debt crawling down her back. Must see movie, you won't be disappointed! Acting is sound, actors are tight, and cameras rolled perfect. Wrighters spot-on and kept building her bravado. I am not disappointed, and neither will you. Looking for another winner, this one is excellent! Suprise us darling and thanks.
