DRAMA
Adapted from the novel by Stephen Amidon (also credited as executive producer) that is co-written and directed by Peter Chelsom that has the town of Forte dei Marmi being the focus of attention that is near a beach community. At night a young lady is ringing on many buzzers on gateside houses, we then see security- hence the title, Roberto Santini (Marco D'Amore) just driving home from work who then stumbles onto someone driving drunk. As he managed to pull him over, it turns out it he recognizes him adult teenager Dario Nobile (Giulio Pranno) who appears to be wasted. And he drives him home to his mother Elea Nobile (Valeria Bilello) who works sells plants for a living and he hands back her son's keys so that she can retrieve the car the following day. Elena also happens to be the single mother of two boys Roberto is having an affair with who is married to Claudia Raffaelli Santini (Maya Sansa) running for mayor. Both appear to sleep in separate beds with a rebellious teenage daughter, Angela Raffaelli Santini (Ludovica Martino). We learn more about the already assaulted young lady shown at the opening, a student who not only attends the same school but also attends the same class as Roberto's daughter Angela. Her name is Maria Spezi (Beatrice Grannò) who lives with her sometimes drunk, disoriented and disorderly single technician father, Walter Spezi (Tommaso Ragno). That it was presumed that it was the father who provided her with the alcohol before she was assaulted- severely enough to send her to the hospital. Making the situation much more complicated is the fact that she has no memory/ recollection about the assault at all one of the reasons she does not want to press charges on anyone. But because the security, Roberto has access to many of the recorded footage around the area, he was able to piece together who was involved even though he suffers from insomnia and sleeps alone by himself. And once Roberto managed to obtain much of the video footage, he manages to figure out one of his wife's biggest sponsors might be involved with Maria's assault by the name of Curzio Pilati (Fabrizio Bentivoglio); Elena Ventini's oldest son, Dario might be involved as he was employed as Pilati's caretaker; and a 40 year old professor Roberto's teenage daughter, Angela is having an affair with by the name of Stefano Tommasi (Silvio Muccino). Each one of them may or may not have played a role on having Maria get assaulted or humiliated including Maria's peers who recorded her confession during class before she online streamed it for the entire world to see it as well when she was not supposed to.
A few things, any teacher having an affair with one of it's students should not be permitted to teach anymore since it is viewed as a conflict of interest. Also because he is in a position of power it should be enough for him to lose his teaching license as well, but not in this movie. Also, what is Roberto doing with video footage installed inside of Pilati's house? The owner himself supposedly have to have ownership inside of his house and around his own property while security supposed to own footage outside of the premises. That scenario is improbable unless he is able to obtain it illegally or that he was given permission from the judge. I also thought it was way too long for many soap opera-like scenarios to reveal what actually happened and how Maria ended up bruised and battered.

(2023) Princes of the Desert/ Zodi & Tehu, frères du désert
(In French with English subtitles)
ADVENTURE
Co-written and directed by Eric Barbier opens with poachers chasing after a herd of wild camels/ dromedaries injuring and killing the mother, that is reminiscent to Bambi. 12 year old Zodi (Yassir Drief) from a tribe of refugees while coming home from school stumble onto an unique looking black and white orphaned dromedary hidden behind some rocks who then takes over the reigns as it's mother. As soon as the dromedary becomes full grown is when those same poachers sought after Zodi for it's racng skills. And of course, it is also disobedient once it is suggested it belonged in the race track, particularly for the "The Golden Sword" races. Along the way, Zodi meets friends such as Kumail (Jesuthasan Antonythasan) and Julia (Alexandra Lamy) who is like a doctor and trainer as there is a particular dromedary called Al Misk synonymous for winning many of it's races.
Anyways, it is not bad, but it is like it has the ingredients of a feel good movie of the week from the Lifetime Channel as it reuses every cheezy cliche in the book from "The Black Stallion", "National Velvet" and "Duma" to name a few. I'd probably would have liked it had I not seen those other movies and more.
