The Perfect Couple (2024)
Ahhh it's a bit choppy
First review! And I am disappointed. I was a massive fan of the book and was counting down for the series.
The biggest issue I had was the randomness of it. I feel like because I read the book, I had an understanding however if I hadn't of read the book, I'd have been confused with the timeline and the choppiness of it. There were also a few key character detail changes like Celeste (the main character / the female getting married) to Amelia which I read was done as Nicole Kidman was Celeste in big little lies and they didn't want any confusion surrounding this and the next change was the detective was a female, when in the book the detective was a Greek man in which apart of his charm in questioning was he was attractive and alluring which drew people in and made them vulnerable in how they answered questions. I also think the acting was a little amateurish and I didn't really feel connected to the characters the same way I was connected to them in the book. Their stories weren't cemented enough. Even when key parts happened they didn't make sense (like when shooter was running on the boat). The viewer didn't really understand the impact of that the way they did in the book. Anyway, point is - disappointed. I will say, it slightly got a little more intriguing as the show went on but for the most part, they didn't do the book justice and I just felt for the most part, it didn't really make sense. I hope this is just me and others don't feel the same!
Fake (2024)
WOW
The trailer didn't fully sell me but I thought I'd give it a go as I have loved Asher Keddie in everything from offspring, to the lost flowers of Alice Hart and to nine perfect strangers and let me tell you, I was addicted from the beginning of episode one and that continued all the way through. I stayed up until the hours of the morning binging it. Asher Keddie just sucks you in and makes you feel all of the emotions with her. I felt for her, I was frustrated watching her and I was saddened by what was playing out in front of her. Brilliant Aussie show that exceeded any expectation and fantastic acting. More of this please!
