The Experts (2024)
Flawed, but this film is second best after Sheriff
The Experts is about 5 siblings who have to steal a ring from 5 ivory after they got caught up by Glasses. They have to make that success to make sure all of them survived.
I will begin all up with the actors. Even though Syafiq Kyle was great in the film with all the emotions, I do think the best here is Remy Ishak. Not just his tango dance steal the show, his character was full of joy. Mimi Lana was my third best. She is very naughty with her temptation and her driving skills. All of the cast are perfect, except Aaron Aziz as big brother. A bit disappointed with him (especially myself as big brother). Cinematography was A+ thanks to Teck Zee. Other than that, it was a solid attempt. Oh, did I mention the music by Ricky Lionardi was a international level? Love the music.
The only cons I discovered is inconsistent editing. I somehow can see huge editing flaw especially on Ray's jump scene. There were also inconsistent cutting. Why there is black frame?
Overall it's a great attempt in crime genre, but have to improve in editing and casting for along. Second best after Sheriff. Congrats Astro Shaw and Blackflag.
Aliff Dalam 7 Dimensi (2016)
Need a sequel!
Aliff Dalam 7 Dimensi (or in English: Aliff in 7 Dimensions) tells the story of these university kids making a theory about 7 Dimensions. In the meantime, Aliff can see Djinns thought himself.
The film was mainly carried by writers' imagination and actors, not director. I mean look at direction. I have doubts about Faisal's direction in this film.
The special effects makeup and visual effects (I was surprised I was 1 day old know that the studio made Ejen Ali in this film) are good for Malaysian level, wouldn't expect much but there was some falling moment were frame lag (are they use animation?).
The film have balanced out islamic, action and horror, but the horror wasn't that much scare. Hope for a better looking ghost.
This film now on YouTube Astro Shaw, so do check out.
Gekijôban Spy x Family Code: White (2023)
Should dubbed as dark satire comedy, not just comedy
Just went to the movie yesterday in TGV 1 Utama (I am from Malaysia, do come to beautiful Malaysia) and it was lot of laugh in the hall. I can't resist that crazy honestly.
The movie was full of fun as expected from an original story, not related to manga. Anya being Anya and everyone being everyone except it's more satire and dark comedy.
What I don't like is there was an offensive part which I don't think that was necessary for joke, kids could have follow that being rude to public. Please fix the comedy and be example to the world.
Nothing to say except it a HUGE worth if you are fan of this franchise or if you are bored of find some movies. Defined that full price.
Pendatang (2023)
High production value makes this film amazing
This film is about a Chinese family, Mr. Wong who recently move to new house. When they are cleaning the house, Bobby found something in the ceiling.
Cinematography by Tan Teck Zee is amazing to give an important viewing to the viewers. It deserves an A+ for that. Besides, the topic that bring is important to us know that rasicm wasn't a topic. Great job by director and producers. Casts are portraying the character well, I don't have problem with that. Production well made by all crews out there! Besides, since it's a thriller genre, I can feel that thrilling in this film.
The ending kinda leaves us big question. Is the sequel currently planning or will leave like that?
Mechamato (2021)
After 2 seasons, I can see the improvement
After I finally finished final episodes, I can say that Mechamato has improved from Season 1 when coming into Season 2 with some freedom to the writers to created their imagination. Kudos to writers room!
I can see in terms of technical, no problem for me. It's was great. It's just the story that should play big things in Mechamato. Monsta finally improving their storytelling imagination and left something for fans. This series can well truly enjoy by all people.
No wonder it's popular around Asia currently, it makes us to be creative and to dealt with difficult situations. Roll on Season 3 and beyond!
The Marvels (2023)
Kamala Khan is freaking rockstar!
First of all, Kamala Khan is a freaking rockstar! She's MVP in this film. A great developed emotion on her and having those Islamics culture makes me feel this film like I'm watching my local film (I'm from Malaysia BTW). Even you don't watch Ms Marvel, you will laugh very much in this film.
The chemistry of The Marvel's simply well build but unfortunately, some of the scenes just doesn't feel right for me. Director and writers', I'm sorry but IT NEEDS AN IMPROVMENT. The villain (or I should say just an additional sprinkle) have no clue of whatsoever motive of her. Feel like I'm watching (once again) my local movie.
Islamic culture been adding here feels amazing respect and it's great to have it in this film. BTW, Kamala's family are full of madness.
Overall, I feel like watching like a local films.
Gemencheh Boys (2023)
Amazing kids actors but need some technical improvement
Gemencheh Boys, a film about 6 Rascals and Cikgu Azman on their journey to win gold medal which stars Pekin Ibrahim as Cikgu Azman Aziz.
What I do love about the film are actors from the kids, not just those 6 Rascals. Great support by them but I hope they have some spotlight too. Cikgu Azman, nothing to say but amazing by Pekin Ibrahim (and Cikgu Azman's journey is really hard. Thank you, teacher). Then, some great jokes by kids which can relate to us, not like Polis Evo 3 and BoBoiBoy Movie 2 overjokes. (And BTW one character from EATM, I did not expect that)
Even though this film good, that one moment of visual effect, sigh. I feel it's not realistic enough but I know why. It could have been better. Editing and slo-mo literally average, not good. Need some improvement on that.
In the end, I hope Malaysia will have inspiration story like this film and MALBATT (or based on).
Malbatt: Misi Bakara (2023)
Actors perfect, CGI bad
First of all, Happy Independent Day to my beloved country Malaysia and thank you so much to all RAMD and 19th Battalion to sacrifice your life for this dangerous mission back in 1993.
Honestly, how actors portrayed them almost the same as real one especially Lans Koperal Ramlee (Shaheizy Sam) and Abdalle (Musa Aden, he's my MVP for this film) for their chemistry and I was emotional when Abdalle's family scene right before morning of 06:00C.
Other than that, Dafi was quite a good actor and chemistry with Shaheizy Sam and Nafiez Zaidi (Pok Nik @ Lans Koperal Nik Zainal) was better than expected. I don't get it why he got hated only for he as a son of Prime Minister + he also human too.
The storyline was straightforward, not catching some strays or drama and easy to understand (also I love some details of it). I love some comedy part especially Leftnan Johan (Syazwan Zulkiply) and Alor Gajah people will be very proud for this haha.
Now to the bad thing, CGI. I feel bad that CGI and explosion (especially RPG) let down this film. If their is more budget and time, I'm 100% sure this film will be top there as one of the greatest Malaysian movies ever. Swear words do even exists back then? I don't know.
Consider the plot, storyline and actors are good, I will give the film 9.5/10 but because of IMDb don't have that .5 at back, I give 10 for this.
Polis Evo 3 (2023)
Polis Evo franchise, the perfect trilogy.
Polis Evo 3 is about Inspector Sani and Inspector Khai have a mission that brings back the time of old time Inspector Khai together with Reza in Ops Sabrum a decade ago. The 'sins' that he made cause the revenge from Reza to target all police family. Reza questioning what is the actual duty of the police? To the family or to the job? This time, Inspector Sani and Inspector Khai team up with Inspector Dani, Inspector Julie and Inspector Dell and led by ACP Farouk. In their mission, Inspector Khai made some questionable decision that made a problem in the mission due to remembered the old times. Reza's character is my MVP due to his emotional feeling and threat. The score of the film feels great to hear. Even though the duration is shorter than the last film, I still didn't feel that long to be honest especially with the fight scenes. Kudos to the whole team!
