I'm a coach of several decades and the portrayal of a coach as is one of the main characters is very far removed from reality. The damn few coaches who have had players at risk via such conditioning are ostracized and don't last long. As the immeasurable and vast majority of coaches care deeply about their student-athletes and are conscientious about any health or safety risks. The minority of coaches the antithesis of those who put their player's health above all else...is only a handful. Thank God.
